Abstract

Cianjur Regency is one of the regencies located in West Java Province that is vulnerable to disasters because it is passed by the Cimandiri fault. Furthermore, according to BPS the population of Cianjur districts during year 2013 – 2021 increased by around 12.64%. The increasing number of population may cause various problems, including that is related to the spatial problems and land use issues. Moreover, the vulnerability of natural disasters is highly related to the land use of the area. Hence, research regarding land use in Cianjur districts to seek the its relation with the vulnerability of natural disasters is needed. This study conducted a land use analysis using Landsat 8 satellite imagery for 2013 and 2022 in 6 sub-districts in Cianjur district. To obtain land use classification of study area, an unsupervised classification of Landsat imagery is conducted with using Iso class algorithms. There three classes of land use resulted, namely namely built-up land, high vegetation and low vegetation. The overall accuracy of the data from year 2013 is 82.67% with kappa index of 0.74. Moreover the overall accuracy of the data from year 2022 is 89.33% with kappa index of 0.84. Changes of land use can be seen when these two different year data are overlay. Overall, the main differences are increasing number of built-up area and high vegetation land use classification while the low vegetation shows a decreasing number. It is hoped that this research can contribute to policy makers in establishing decisions related to spatial planning for sustainable development in disaster-prone areas around Cianjur district.

Abstract

The Diponegoro Education Reservoir is located in Tembalang District, Semarang City, Central Java Province. This reservoir was built for academic purposes and also to control floods around its neighbourhood. Semarang City has a high level of floods vulnerability. Located in the northern part of Java Island which is close to the Java Sea added with limited land availabilty and increased number of human population, make Semarang City is prone to flood. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, in 2007 the population in Semarang City was around 1.45 million people, in 2015 it rose to 1.59 million people, and in 2021 it will again increase to 1.65 million people. This increase in population cause various spatial problems that have an impact on flood vulnerability, one of which is the problem of land use. Therefore, a land cover analysis around the Diponegoro Education Reservoir is needed. This study conducted a temporal spatial analysis of land cover for 2007, 2015 and 2022 using Google Earth data. The method used is on screen digitization to obtain 3 classes of land cover classification, namely bodies of water, built-up land and non-built-up land. The hope is that the results of this research can present land cover data around the Diponegoro Education Reservoir in 2007, 2015 and 2022 as input to policy makers regarding spatial planning and disaster for sustainable development.

Abstract

The construction of the Trans Java toll road has brought development to the areas it passes through. As happened in Madyopuro Village, Malang City, which was transformed into a satellite city due to the construction of the toll exit, some unoccupied land in this area began to be looked at by developers to build settlements known from the 2019 image. In addition, supporting facilities in the form of arterial roads were widened so that access to the eastern region of the village became easy. This settlement development factor is an indicator of population growth. The purpose of this research is to analyze changes in the number of settlements with Google Earth Data. The method used is snapshoot analysis through Google Earth Pro image data which is available in full and easily accessible in a multi-spatial and multi-temporal manner. The results are used to predict the amount of population growth. Images from Google Earth are rectified then the amount of built-up land in the form of settlements is calculated through the appearance of the roof. Furthermore, the number of each building is correlated with the population of each building based on SNI-03-1733-2004. The results of this calculation were compared with population data for that year using data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The results of this research show that the population based on predictions in 2015 amounted to 18,604 people, in BPS data 19,566 people. For 2019, predictions with this method show a number of 20,020 people and BPS data shows 20,067 people. The prediction in 2023 is 21,544 people. Through image data from Google Earth Pro, the population predicted by this method is close to data from BPS in 2015 and 2019 with a difference. The conclusion is that data on changes in house buildings from Google Earth can be used to predict the number of people affected by toll road construction.
