Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method on students' reading comprehension skills. This research used a pre-experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were all sixth-grade students at SDN 007 Bangkinang Kota, totaling 15 individuals. Data were collected through reading comprehension tests administered before (pretest) and after (posttest) the treatment. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, normality tests, and hypothesis testing with the Paired Sample T-test via SPSS version 26. The results showed that: (1) The average pretest score was 52.80, with the majority of students (80%) in the very low category; (2) The average posttest score increased to 74.93, with the majority of students (60%) in the moderate category; (3) The hypothesis test results showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) with t-count = -5.034, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, meaning that the implementation of the SQ3R method has a significant effect on improving the reading comprehension skills of sixth-grade students at SDN 007 Bangkinang Kota. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the SQ3R method is effective in improving students' reading comprehension skills. Teachers are recommended to implement this method as an alternative learning strategy, especially for materials requiring in-depth understanding of reading texts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of the active learning method in strengthening Islamic values within Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMA PGRI Padang Cermin, in response to the gap between students’ cognitive understanding and the practical implementation of religious values. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the PAI teacher and students, classroom participatory observations, and document analysis of syllabi, lesson plans, and students’ reflective journals. The participants consisted of one PAI teacher and 32 tenth-grade students. Data analysis was conducted using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings revealed four major themes: the expansion of dialogical participation, the internalization of values through authentic experiences, the integration of cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, and supporting and inhibiting factors in implementation. Discussion-based learning, simulations, and collaborative projects were found to facilitate moral reflection and the enactment of Islamic values such as honesty, responsibility, empathy, and cooperation. This study reinforces the constructivist perspective in value education and offers practical implications for instructional design and character-based assessment policies. Future longitudinal research is recommended to examine the sustainability of value internalization over time.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the demonstration learning model on the psychomotor skills of basic running and jumping movements among elementary school students. The background of this research is the low level of students’ psychomotor abilities in physical education, particularly in performing fundamental movements such as running and jumping, which is often caused by the use of less appropriate teaching methods. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects were 20 fifth-grade students at SDN 007 Pangkalan Kerinci. Data were collected through psychomotor skill tests and learning interest questionnaires. The results showed that the demonstration learning model had a significant impact on improving students’ psychomotor skills in basic running and jumping movements. By observing correct movements directly, students were able to better understand the material, increase their motivation, and actively engage in physical education activities. Therefore, the demonstration method is recommended as an effective strategy to enhance students’ motor skill achievement at the elementary school level.
