Abstract

This research aims to analyze teachers’ perspectives as learning agents on the competency assessment system in graduation determination in SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga. The national assessment includes socialization, practice, teachers’ perspectives, and control. At the same time, an assessment provides literacy, numeration, and character assessment. The researcher took the data by qualitative methodology in this study, consisting of interviews, observations, and documentation. This research had the subject of the principal of SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga, the vice principal of curriculum, and the teacher. This study used interactive model data analysis techniques to check the validity of source triangulation data. The result showed that SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga had been assessed for graduation determination. The teachers understood the purpose of the assessment, although there are several pros and contra to implementation, such as some teachers have complained about several complex assessments. It caused teachers to need a long time for students’ character assessments. Then, most teachers assumed that assessment for graduation determination was appropriate for students because it made students think more critically. Also, it would improve the education field because a national exam is considered not a flexible assessment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine cross-cultural communication in the multicultural environment of PKBM Junggel School Salatiga. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing observation and in-depth interview techniques. Participants were selected through purposive sampling, comprising 13 teachers and 2 principals with over a year of experience working in multicultural teams. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that cross-cultural communication at PKBM Junggel School Salatiga runs effectively despite various challenges. The diverse backgrounds of educators, both local and international, make Junggel School a rich learning space with perspectives that are prone to miscommunication. Key challenges include differences in communication styles (high vs. low context), culture shock, and interpretation of non-verbal cues such as facial expressions, eye contact, and body language. The effectiveness of cross-cultural communication is achieved through specific managerial strategies, including cultural training, reflective forums, and open communication. These strategies have successfully created an inclusive, harmonious, and responsive collaborative environment that meets the needs of global learners. Diversity is viewed not as an obstacle but as a strategic asset that enriches the pedagogical approach and builds education based on values of tolerance and mutual respect.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the utilization of the current E-Report system in managing student assessments, identify the challenges encountered in the assessment process, and explore the development of an enhanced E-Report application to improve assessment accountability. The research adopts a Research and Development (R&D) approach based on the Borg and Gall model, implemented up to the fifth stage, and employs a mixed-methods design integrating both quantitative and qualitative data to obtain a comprehensive understanding of system use and development. The study was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Bandungan, Semarang Regency, Central Java Province, involving teachers, system operators, and the vice principal for curriculum affairs as research participants. Data were collected through interviews, observations, document analysis, and questionnaires. Research instruments included interview guides, observation sheets, assessment documents, and validation questionnaires. Qualitative data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation, while quantitative data validity was established through expert judgment. The findings indicate that the manual process of inputting assessment descriptions requires simplification to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The Microsoft Excel–based E-Report application developed in this study provides flexible access and facilitates more efficient data management. Validation results showed scores of 88% and 94% from two management experts and 94% from an ICT expert. User testing results demonstrated ratings of 98.06% for display quality, 92.50% for technical quality, and 88.33% for accessibility. Overall, the application is categorized as “very good” and proven effective in enhancing assessment accountability.
