Abstract

Women are human resources with potential that can be utilized in various fields. Women's MSMEs can potentially improve coastal communities' welfare, independence, and empowerment. To overcome these challenges and obstacles, women's MSME businesses on the coast of Surabaya must develop several strategies for human resources for MSME actors on the coast. The research method in this study was quantitative; questionnaires were distributed to female MSME actors on the coast of Surabaya in Tambak Wedi, Kedinding, Nambangan, Bulak, Kenjeran, and Wonorejo. Eighty-two female MSME actors have filled out the questionnaire appropriately, and the data entered is processed and analyzed using SEM PLS. This research shows that the training variable has a significant positive effect on the development of human resources for female MSMEs on the coast of Surabaya. Meanwhile, other variables, such as education, health, motivation, and involvement, do not influence the development of human resources for female MSME actors on the coast of Surabaya

Abstract

Work safety is a form of effort that aims to create a work environment that is safety and prevents various accidents. To improve work safety efforts, namely by using the correct Personal Protective Equipment according to applicable procedures. Personal Protective Equipment is work equipment that must be used by the crew when working on the ship. This study aims to examine the importance of the use of Personal Protective Equipment by ship crews during the discharging process. And also to find out the actions and efforts of ship officers to optimise the application of the use of personal protective equipment during discharging. The author uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through data observation, interviews and finally documentation. The author examines how the application of Personal Protective Equipment during discharging to maintain crew safety on board MT NOLOWATI III. After conducting research and analysis, it is known that the use of personal protective equipment during the discharging process on the MT NOLOWATI III ship used by the crew does not meet the applicable standards as evidenced by several work accidents. The ship's officer's actions and efforts to optimise the implementation of the use of Personal Protective Equipment during loading and discharging have been optimised, but indeed the crew's awareness of the importance of safety culture is very low. This, needs to be given more optimal actions and efforts to the crew so that they can use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in order to realise and improve safety for themselves, and others

Abstract

As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has abundant natural resources and the potential to develop various industries. In this case, the Ministry of Industry still relies on Java as a location to encourage industrial activities in Indonesia. One of the largest industrial areas in Indonesia is located in the western area of Java Island, namely in the Pulogadung, Karawang, and Bekasi areas. Geographically, Indonesia, an archipelagic country, has good inter-island connectivity. The maritime transportation sector is a strategic component forming the national transportation system. Apart from that, the competitiveness of Indonesian commodities, goods, and services is developed due to national logistics prices, which are partly determined by transportation costs. The many commodities produced on Java Island have resulted in a high demand for goods from Java Island. The cost of shipping goods plays a significant role in the buyer's price. In this research, several options were analyzed for sending goods from Java to Sumatera, namely by using a truck and then crossing by ship from Merak Port to Bakauheni Port or sending by ship to Panjang Port, from Tanjung Priok Port or Ciwandan Port. This research was conducted to select a mode of transportation with a minimum unit cost to support delivery activities. Then, this research was carried out using an optimization method to make the shipping costs incurred more optimal. The results of this research will provide an analysis of the efficiency of intermodal transportation in transporting goods on the Java-Sumatera route.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of maritime automation through IMO's MASS framework highlights the need for voice-assisted navigation systems to enhance crew efficiency during ship maneuvering. This research aims to design a voice recognition prototype for ship steering, integrate it as an alternative control mode, and improve deck crew productivity. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach with prototype development, the study targeted navigation trainees and officers at Politeknik Pelayaran Surabaya (N=population during 12-month sea practice), using purposive sampling of 5 beta testers plus researcher for alpha testing. Instruments included DFRobot DF2301Q voice module, ESP32 DevKitC microcontroller, MG996R servos, potentiometer, and WS2812B LEDs, analyzed through static/dynamic tests measuring command accuracy (>90%), servo stability (35°-150°), and response time (<3s). Results demonstrated 90%+ recognition of wake word "MERATUS" and 17 navigation commands, stable servo operation, and linear sensor feedback. The prototype proves viable as MASS Level 1 decision support, reducing manual crew dependency during maneuvers.
