Abstract

Learning evaluation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is a crucial aspect to ensure the achievement of educational objectives, which are not only oriented towards the cognitive domain, but also the affective and psychomotor domains. However, practice in the field shows that many educators still equate tests, measurements, assessments, and evaluations, resulting in a less comprehensive assessment process and inability to fully reflect student development. This study employed a qualitative-descriptive method through a literature review of educational evaluation theory books and relevant national and international journals to deeply analyze the basic concepts of evaluation and their urgency in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. The results show that tests only function as measuring tools; measurements provide quantitative values; assessments gather comprehensive information about the learning process and outcomes; while evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of learning effectiveness. The main findings emphasize that evaluation in PAI must be carried out authentically, continuously, and touch on three competency domains in order to encourage the formation of Islamic character, improve the quality of the learning process, and provide a basis for improving teaching strategies. This article provides a theoretical contribution by clarifying the conceptual distinctions between these terms and offers a more relevant evaluation framework for PAI educators. Keywords: learning evaluation, assessment, testing, measurement, Islamic Religious Education, authentic, Islamic character

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology has changed the educational paradigm, including the learning evaluation process, where conventional paper-based evaluations are considered inefficient, slow in providing feedback, and prone to errors or accidents. Therefore, the implementation of technology-based evaluations, such as E-Assessment, Computer-Based Testing (CBT), and digital applications, is an alternative strategy to increase the effectiveness, accuracy, and relevance of assessments. National research uses qualitative descriptive methods based on literature studies, by analyzing literature from scientific journals, educational books, policy guidelines, and research related to the implementation of digital evaluation, to map the benefits, challenges, and best practices in the context of formal education. The results of the study indicate that Technology-based evaluation can improve the accuracy of student competency measurements, accelerate data processing, and provide instant feedback that supports continuous learning. Furthermore, this technology increases learning motivation, reduces the potential for cheating, and facilitates systematic monitoring of learning outcomes. However, implementing digital evaluation faces challenges such as infrastructure readiness, teacher and student digital literacy, and data security. Therefore, its successful use requires support from training, policies, and sound system integration. Keywords: Technology-based evaluation, E-Assessment, CBT, Digital applications, Modern education

Abstract

This article discusses affective spiritual evaluation instruments which include three main subtopics, namely observation, attitude scales, and self-assessment. The purpose of this study is to understand the concept and application of these instruments in early childhood Islamic education. The method used is literature review from various educational psychology and Islamic education sources. The results indicate that observation is useful for identifying behavioral changes, attitude scales help quantify students’ affective responses, and self-assessment supports students’ awareness and reflection of their own spiritual development. These three instruments complement each other in providing comprehensive affective-spiritual evaluations. Keywords: affective evaluation, spiritual, observation, attitude scale, self-assessment

Abstract

Indonesia, as a pluralistic nation, faces serious challenges in the form of increasing intolerance, identity-based conflicts, and the weakening of national character values. This condition indicates that education has not yet fully functioned as a means of managing diversity as a social strength. This study aims to analyze the concept of multicultural education within the social, cultural, and historical context of Indonesia and examine its relevance to strengthening character education. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods through critical analysis of scholarly literature, expert perspectives, and relevant educational policy documents. The findings reveal that multicultural education plays a strategic role as an educational paradigm that emphasizes equality, respect for differences, and social justice, and serves as a foundational framework for strengthening character education grounded in the Indonesian context. The integration of multicultural education and character education is shown to foster tolerant, empathetic, and democratic attitudes among students. The implications of this study highlight the importance of mainstreaming multicultural education within curricula, school culture, and national education policies to develop an inclusive and civilized national character.

Abstract

Indonesian national education is the result of a continuous interaction between government policies and the contributions of civil society, including modern religious organizations such as Muhammadiyah, which has played a significant role in educational transformation since 1912. Amidst the demands of globalization and the need for an inclusive, adaptive, and character-based education system, it is important to understand Muhammadiyah’s influence in shaping the direction of national education policy. This study aims to identify the forms of this influence, including institutional contributions, advocacy roles, curriculum innovation, and strategic partnerships in supporting national education development. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was used to systematically analyze 40 relevant accredited journal articles, resulting in a comprehensive thematic mapping. The results show that Muhammadiyah has a significant influence in four main aspects: expanding access to education through a broad and equitable network of institutions, contributing to policy advocacy involving Muhammadiyah figures and formal institutions, innovating in Islamic-based curriculum and pedagogy, and forming strategic partnerships with the government in equalizing and improving the quality of national education. Analysis of the distribution of articles shows that 35% focused on institutional contributions, 25% on policy advocacy, 20% on curriculum innovation, and 20% on forms of educational partnerships.

Abstract

Mudharabah is an Islamic economic contract based on cooperation between capital owners (shahibul mal) and business managers (mudharib). In practice, its application often faces challenges such as information imbalance, low Islamic financial literacy, and potential deviations from sharia principles. In Ujung Gading Market, West Pasaman Regency, mudharabah contracts have the potential to empower small and medium-sized traders. This study examines the implementation of mudharabah contracts in the market, their effectiveness in improving traders’ welfare, and the obstacles encountered. A qualitative approach was used with data collection through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation studies. Informants included traders, capital owners, and stakeholders managing mudharabah contracts. The findings show that mudharabah contracts contribute to increased income and strengthened business networks. However, obstacles such as low understanding of sharia principles, lack of local regulatory frameworks, and limited capital access hinder their full potential. This study is limited by its narrow area coverage and lack of quantitative data to support qualitative findings. Further research with a broader scope and quantitative methods is recommended to enhance the analysis of mudharabah contract effectiveness in local and global contexts.

Abstract

The transformation of Islamic studies in the digital era has brought significant impacts on research methodologies, accessibility to knowledge sources, and challenges related to scholarly authority. The digitization of Islamic literature has enabled broader access to Islamic sources, but it has also raised challenges concerning the validity and authority of these sources. Technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI) have opened new opportunities for Islamic studies to become more empirical. However, the use of these methods also faces potential biases and data manipulation. Additionally, the phenomenon of "digital preachers" emerging on social media has introduced challenges related to scholarly authority, as not all narratives circulating online are academically accountable. This article analyzes the opportunities and challenges faced by Islamic studies in the digital era, emphasizing the need for strengthening digital literacy and academically grounded research methodologies to maintain the credibility of Islamic scholarship. Thus, while digitization offers numerous opportunities, careful management is required to preserve the integrity and authority of Islamic knowledge in the digital space.
