Abstract

Multiplication fluency among upper-grade elementary school students remains a problem in mathematics learning. Students who are not fluent in multiplication often face difficulties in solving long multiplication, division, fractions, area problems, and word problems. This article aims to examine the root causes of multiplication disfluency among upper-grade elementary school students through a literature review. The method used is a qualitative approach with library research, which involves reviewing journal articles, books, and educational documents related to elementary mathematics learning, multiplication operations, learning difficulties, instructional media, and students’ psychological factors. The findings show that multiplication disfluency is not only caused by weak memorization of multiplication tables, but is also related to weak conceptual understanding, limited mastery of basic multiplication facts, procedural errors, low accuracy, irregular practice, limited variation in instructional media, and mathematics anxiety. Effective multiplication learning needs to combine conceptual strengthening, the use of concrete and visual media, gradual practice, educational games, counting strategies, and a classroom atmosphere that supports students’ courage to try. This review indicates that multiplication fluency should be developed through a balanced process involving understanding, practice, strategy, and support from the learning environment.

Abstract

Pancasila Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of elementary school Pancasila Education plays a strategic role in shaping the character of elementary school students as the next generation with a Pancasila spirit. However, learning Pancasila Education in elementary schools is often still abstract, verbalistic, and less meaningful for students. The contextual approach (CTL) serves as a solution by connecting learning materials with students' real lives. This article aims to examine the application of the contextual approach in Pancasila Education learning to shape students' character through a systematic literature study of eight related journals. Literature search was conducted through Google Scholar and Sinta databases using the keywords contextual approach, CTL, Pancasila Education, and elementary student character, with inclusion criteria of publications from 2021–2024. Results show that CTL, implemented through its seven main components, significantly improves students' understanding and internalization of Pancasila values, including religiosity, honesty, mutual cooperation, responsibility, and nationalism. Although all reviewed literature demonstrates positive outcomes, the main challenge lies in shifting paradigms and teachers' readiness to consistently implement CTL.

Abstract

Civic Education (PKn) plays a crucial role in shaping character and enhancing children's ethics in elementary schools. This study aims to analyze how PKn learning can help students understand moral values and apply them in their daily lives. The research method used is a literature study by analyzing various relevant scientific sources. The findings indicate that active learning methods such as group discussions, case studies, simulations, and role-playing are effective in increasing students' ethical awareness. Furthermore, the teacher's role as a role model significantly influences children's moral attitudes. PKn not only improves students' politeness and discipline at school but also positively impacts their behavior at home. By gaining a deeper understanding of ethical concepts, students become more responsible, empathetic, and honest in their social lives. This study contributes to the field of education by highlighting the importance of an interactive approach in PKn teaching to shape children's character. However, the limitation of this study lies in its scope, which is restricted to a few literature sources.

Abstract

Reading comprehension represents a critical literacy skill that must be cultivated in elementary school students, as it constitutes the cornerstone for knowledge acquisition across all academic disciplines. Nevertheless, a considerable number of primary-grade students continue to encounter substantial challenges in comprehending written texts, particularly when instruction relies exclusively on conventional pedagogical approaches. This study aims to examine and describe the implementation of animated video learning media as a strategy to enhance reading comprehension abilities among Grade III elementary school students. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, data were gathered through classroom observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers and students, and systematic documentation. Findings indicate that the integration of animated video media substantially elevated students' engagement, enthusiasm, and concentration during reading sessions. Students demonstrated markedly improved ability to grasp textual content compared to instruction conducted without visual media support. Furthermore, animated video facilitated more active student participation in classroom discussions and yielded greater accuracy in answering comprehension questions. These results affirm that animated video constitutes an effective and innovative instructional tool capable of meaningfully advancing reading comprehension competencies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

In the Society 5. 0 era, technological developments are undergoing rapid change, both in the fields of digital technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (loT), bringing various changes, particularly to learning in elementary schools. This article aims to examine the role of digital technology in the Society 5.0 era on learning in elementary schools. The method used in this article is a literature riview, reviewing several relevant journals on the role of digital technology in elementary school learning. The results of the study indicate that the use of technology such as interactive videos and e-books can increase student learning interest. Thus, the integration of digital technology plays a crucial and innovative role in supporting effective and interactive learning in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the readiness of elementary school teachers in implementing the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) within the Merdeka Curriculum. The study employed a descriptive quantitative approach involving classroom teachers and teachers engaged in P5 implementation in several elementary schools. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire, short interviews, and documentation of project modules, teaching tools, and school activity reports. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of mean scores, percentages, and readiness categories, while interview and documentation data were used to clarify the main findings. The results show that teacher readiness falls within the fairly ready to ready category, although it is not evenly distributed across all aspects of implementation. The strongest readiness appears in teachers’ acceptance of the policy, willingness to carry out projects, and efforts to adjust learning to students’ needs. Challenges are still found in preparing project modules, mapping the dimensions and sub-elements of the Pancasila Student Profile, conducting reflection activities, and developing assessment tools that can capture students’ learning processes more comprehensively. Factors influencing teacher readiness include conceptual understanding, training experience, principal support, teacher collaboration, and the availability of supporting facilities. These findings indicate that teacher readiness is closely related to the quality of P5 implementation in elementary schools and needs to be strengthened through continuous training, technical assistance, and a collaborative culture within the school environment.

Abstract

Cooperative Learning Model type Jigsaw is a learning model that can be used in the learning process to improve the reading skills of the student's understanding. The background of this study is poor reading skills, learning processes that are still centered on the teacher, students who have difficulty understanding the reading text and identifying the key ideas or basic ideas as well as important details contained in the text they read. The study aims to describe improved reading skills and understanding of the student using the Cooperative Learning model of the Jigsaw type. The research was carried out at the SDN 03 Pakan Kurai City of Bukittinggi. This type of research is class action research that consists of four stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research uses both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research was carried out in two cycles, Cycle I consisting of two meetings and Cycle II consisted of one meeting. Subject of the research is the student of V SD State 03 Pakan Kurai City Bukittinggi. This study showed that there was an improvement in the reading skills of learners using the Cooperative Learning model of Jigsaw. Thus, the cooperative learning model of jigsaw can be an effective option for enhancing the learning skills of students.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum emphasizes learning through a series of topics. The objectives of this study are. To analyze the needs of teachers in implementing appropriate learning models based on the 2013 Curriculum, especially in elementary schools. To develop effective and efficient thematic learning materials on the topic of natural resources. To test the effectiveness of the developed learning model. Research Steps, Development of learning materials The research team developed thematic learning materials on the topic of natural resources. Four experts in the field of education provided input and suggestions to improve the first draft of the thematic textbooks. Trial of learning materials The revised learning materials were tested on elementary school students. The effectiveness of the learning model was measured using tests and data analysis. Research Results. The developed thematic learning materials were proven to be useful and effective in helping students understand natural resource materials. Students achieved a minimum mastery of learning of 72% and a classical mastery of 91.6%. Test results showed an increase in student learning scores after using the workbook.
