Abstract

This study aims to describe the moral development of elementary school-aged children through a qualitative approach based on observation. Two fifth-grade students were observed to identify differences in moral characteristics and the influence of social interaction on the formation of moral values. The study also examines the teacher’s role as a facilitator of moral growth, support strategies for students with difficulties, the relationship between moral development and cognitive ability, and the role of parents. Findings reveal that children's moral development is significantly influenced by contextual, relational, and reflective learning approaches. Personalized support from teachers and collaboration with parents positively contribute to students’ moral maturity. The study recommends integrating moral values into the curriculum, training for teachers, and strengthening school–family cooperation.

Abstract

This research investigates the factors contributing to low understanding of environmental degradation among sixth-grade students at SDN 12 Padang Koto Gadang. The study aims to identify internal and external factors affecting students' comprehension of environmental issues within the IPAS (Natural and Social Sciences) curriculum. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with the class teacher, classroom observations, and document analysis of lesson plans and student assessment records. The findings reveal that internal factors include low learning motivation, where students perceive environmental materials as mere memorization tasks, and a significant mismatch between students' kinesthetic-visual learning styles (78%) and the predominantly auditory-lecture teaching methods. External factors encompass conventional teaching approaches dominating 85% of classroom time, limited technological infrastructure, and insufficient interactive learning resources. A paradoxical finding shows that while 70% of students claim environmental concern, only 23% consistently practice eco-friendly behaviors, indicating a substantial gap between cognitive knowledge and behavioral application. The study recommends implementing a hybrid learning model combining Problem-Based Learning with local contexts, utilizing simple nature-based media, and establishing strategic community partnerships. These findings contribute to developing more adaptive and contextual teaching methods aligned with Merdeka Curriculum principles for elementary environmental education.

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the importance of instilling Pancasila values ​​in grade IV elementary school students as the main basis for children's moral development. This study was conducted using a literature review method through analysis of various articles from sources such as academic journals and Google Scholar, using the keywords "Instilling Pancasila Values ​​in Elementary Schools" that are relevant to the topic discussed. Pancasila functions as the nation's philosophy of life, which builds national identity while providing guidelines for acting morally and ethically for all individuals. Therefore, Pancasila values ​​must be instilled from an early age so that children can develop personalities that are in line with these values. The results of this study show that instilling Pancasila values ​​has a significant impact on the formation of behavior, character, and ethics of students at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Civic and Pancasila Education (PPKn) in instilling the spirit of unity and integrity among elementary school (SD) students. Using a qualitative approach through a literature review method, this research examines various scholarly works and relevant studies to develop effective and contextual PPKn learning strategies. The findings reveal that PPKn plays a strategic role in shaping national character through the understanding of national values, legal norms, and national identity. Programs such as “Sahabat Pancasila” serve as successful examples of implementing unity values in real school settings. However, challenges remain, such as the lack of variety in teaching methods and the low level of students' affective engagement. Therefore, recommended strategies include value-based learning models, contextual approaches, and regular teacher training. This research is expected to contribute to the development of character education policies and strengthen the role of PPKn in nurturing a young generation that is patriotic and tolerant.

Abstract

Pancasila learning at the elementary school level has a strategic role in forming the ethical and moral foundations of the younger generation from an early age. This article aims to analyze the influence of Pancasila learning on the formation of ethical and moral character of elementary school students with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and documentation studies in several elementary schools in urban and rural areas. The results of the study indicate that Pancasila learning that is implemented consistently and contextually can foster an attitude of tolerance, responsibility, mutual cooperation, and a sense of love for the homeland in students. Pancasila values ​​conveyed through a thematic approach and based on real experiences have proven to be more effective in forming positive student behavior in the school environment and at home. However, challenges remain, such as the lack of teacher understanding of effective learning methods and low support from the environment outside of school. Therefore, there needs to be continuous teacher training and synergy between schools, families, and communities so that Pancasila learning can function optimally in forming children's character. In conclusion, Pancasila learning has a significant influence on the formation of ethics and morals of elementary school students, but the success of its implementation is highly dependent on the method, consistency, and support from various parties. This article is expected to be a reference for educators and policy makers in designing a more adaptive and applicable value curriculum.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan membaca siswa kelas V di SDN 04 Sintuk Toboh Gadang dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Membaca adalah keterampilan dasar yang krusial dalam proses belajar dan perkembangan kognitif anak. Pendekatan kualitatif dipilih untuk mendalami kemampuan membaca serta faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhinya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara dengan guru dan siswa, serta dokumentasi hasil belajar. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya variasi dalam kemampuan membaca di antara siswa. Beberapa siswa mampu membaca dengan baik dan memahami isi teks, sementara yang lainnya mengalami kesulitan dalam mengenali kata, kelancaran dalam membaca, dan pemahaman bacaan. Berbagai faktor yang mempengaruhi kemampuan membaca mencakup aspek kognitif, motivasi, metode pengajaran yang digunakan, dukungan dari lingkungan sekitar, serta kematangan emosional siswa. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar metode pengajaran yang digunakan menjadi lebih interaktif dan efisien, disertai dengan penyediaan fasilitas membaca yang memadai, serta mendorong keterlibatan aktif orang tua dalam mendukung kebiasaan membaca anak. Diharapkan, hasil dari penelitian ini bisa menjadi panduan bagi guru, sekolah, dan orang tua dalam meningkatkan keterampilan literasi siswa secara efektif dan berkelanjutan

Abstract

The low interest in reading of students in elementary school is a serious problem that has a direct impact on the quality of learning, especially in Indonesian subjects. This article aims to identify and analyze various factors that affect student’s low interest in reading through a literature review approach. The results of the analysis showed that these factors included limited literacy facilities, lack of active role of teachers and parental support, negative influence of digital technology, less attractive teaching methods, and low motivation and reading habits of students. The impact of low interest in reading includes difficulty understanding reading, weak vocabulary mastery, and low learning achievement. This article also reviews various strategies that teachers can do to increase student’s reading interest, such as reading habits, the use of storytelling methods, reading corners, the use of technology, as well as thematic approaches and creative literacy programs. Cooperation between schools, families, and communities is needed to create a literacy ecosystem that supports the growth of reading interest from an early age.

Abstract

Seorang guru memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam proses pembelajaran siswanya, terutama seorang guru yang mengajar anak-anak pada jenjang sekolah dasar. Pada dasarnya, anak-anak yang masih menempuh jenjang Pendidikan sekolah dasar cenderung masih sangat belia dan sifatnya masih sangat kekanak-kanakan. Maka dari itu, guru harus bisa memberikan pembelajaran yang bukan hanya dari segi materi, tapi juga dari segi karakter. Karakter yang baik harus diajarkan sejak usia dini agar mereka terbiasa hingga mereka dewasa. Artikel ini membahas cara-cara yang sederhana namun berarti yang dapat dilakukan oleh para calon guru agar disenangi oleh murid-muridnya. Dengan memberikan pendekatan yang ramah, menyenangkan, empatik, dapat memberikan suasana belajar yang hangat dan positif bagi siswa-siswanya. Artikel ini merupakan hasil penelitian observasi pada SDIT Ridhotullah Padang yang dilakukan mahasiswa PGSD. Artikel ini juga ditujukan sebagai bekal untuk memahami peran emosional dan peran sosial seorang pendidik.

Abstract

Kesehatan memiliki peran penting dalam kehidupan setiap orang, baik secara jasmani maupun rohani. Beragam kegiatan seperti belajar, bekerja, berolahraga, dan berpikir biasanya dimulai dengan mengonsumsi makanan bergizi dan seimbang. Sarapan menjadi sumber gizi pertama yang masuk ke dalam tubuh setiap hari. Rutinitas sarapan dapat berdampak pada kemampuan seseorang dalam berkonsentrasi saat belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji hubungan antara kebiasaan sarapan dan konsentrasi belajar. Metode yang digunakan adalah studi literatur, yakni mengumpulkan dan merangkum berbagai sumber literatur yang relevan dari database internasional dan nasional seperti EBSCO, ScienceDirect, dan Proquest. Selain itu, peneliti juga memanfaatkan Google Scholar dan PubMed untuk pencarian tambahan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara kebiasaan sarapan dengan konsentrasi belajar. Lingkungan keluarga memiliki peran besar dalam membentuk gaya hidup sehat, terutama dalam membiasakan sarapan. Mengingat banyaknya faktor yang dapat memengaruhi konsentrasi belajar, diharapkan penelitian di masa mendatang dapat menelusuri faktor-faktor lain yang turut berkontribusi, sehingga temuan yang dihasilkan menjadi lebih beragam dan komprehensif.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the causes and efforts to address Reading Fluency Issues among Elementary School Students: Case Study of Fourth Grade Students at SD Negeri 09 Kayu Aro. This study conducts a descriptive qualitative research with a case study. Abid Aqila Pranaja, a 10-year-old fourth-grade student, is the subject of the study. Interviews with teachers and direct observations in the classroom are part of the data collection methods. The results of the survey and observations conducted in the fourth-grade elementary school class show that one student is experiencing reading difficulties. The types of reading difficulties experienced by the student include difficulty recognizing letters, difficulty reading words, difficulty distinguishing between vowels and consonants, difficulty blending letters and syllables into a single word, and lack of attention to punctuation while reading. The teacher identified several factors causing reading difficulties, namely two internal factors and external factors.
