Abstract

Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah mass organizations in Madura are considered to be different mass organizations in the midst of Madurese society. Views like this result in some Madurese people having an exaggerated view of other mass organizations that are different from the ones they follow. The excessive views in question are like views that are often found in public dialogue which then say that other mass organizations are bi'ah organizations, not in line with Islam and so on. The aim of this research is to neutralize excessive views, namely through the concept of Bergama moderation which was initiated by the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenag RI). The method used in this research is the library research method. The data analysis stage is carried out by searching for data that is appropriate to the research context and the data is presented and analyzed by conveying the data found (descriptive), and the last is the conclusion drawing stage. The results of this research are that the Bergama conception of moderation can be instilled in the community in order to provide a straight understanding of the two mass organizations and to develop moderate thinking without being excessive towards adherents of NU or Muhammadiyah mass organizations. This can be achieved by inserting the concept of religious moderation in education, in the form of special studies on religious moderation or in the form of direct application in society.

Abstract

This study explores the role of indigenous ecological narratives in shaping sustainable environmental practices through an ecosemiotic-cultural perspective. By employing a retro-prospective analysis, the research examines traditional ecological knowledge embedded in Indonesian literary texts, revealing how past wisdom informs contemporary and future environmental consciousness. The primary data for this research comprises three contemporary Indonesian novels that encapsulate indigenous ecological wisdom and human-nature relationships: Mata dan Manusia Laut (2019) by Okky Madasari, Tanjung Kemarau (2020) by Royyan Julian, Sanggarguri (2021) by Lalu Agus Fathurrahman. The findings demonstrate that indigenous narratives function as semiotic systems that encode ecological values, communal responsibility, and harmonious relationships with nature. Through cultural symbols, myths, and folklore, these narratives offer sustainable models of environmental stewardship rooted in collective memory and local traditions. The study also highlights the potential of integrating these narratives into modern sustainability policies and education, ensuring their relevance in addressing contemporary ecological challenges. By bridging historical ecological wisdom with future sustainability efforts, this research contributes to the broader discourse on ecosemiotics and sustainable development. The implications of this study underscore the significance of interdisciplinary approaches in preserving cultural heritage while fostering environmental resilience.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of children's novels as a medium to integrate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) values into teacher education. It aims to examine the extent to which children's novels can enhance reading interest, internalize sustainability concepts, and foster systemic thinking among prospective educators. The methods used include interviews, observations, and theoretical analysis based on Literacy Transformation, UNESCO guidelines, and a Systems Thinking approach. The findings show that the use of children's novels significantly boosts reading engagement and effectively connects theory with practice through contextual and emotional narratives. Children's novels also prove effective in fostering a deep understanding of social justice, equality, and environmental sustainability. Despite challenges such as limited teacher training and curriculum integration, the study highlights the strategic potential of children's novels in shaping critical, creative, and systemic educators. The results recommend strengthening story-based literacy programs and providing teacher training focused on integrating sustainability values to enrich learning in teacher education programs.

This analysis is guided by positive discourse analysis which focuses more on progressivity using lexical items, delivery strategies, metaphors, diction selection, and modalities. With this strategy, we try to describe how a state leader constructs a discourse of peace and suggest people to stay calm in the community amid panic caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This research highlights how rhetoric can be interpreted as a message, hope, protection, and giving peace. The results showed that Joko Widodo used metáfor and diction to support the stability and tranquility of society in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. Abstract

The use of proper and correct Indonesian on public signage reflects professionalism and the image of a region in the eyes of tourists and the general public. This study aims to analyze the use of Indonesian on tourism signage and street signs in Central Maluku Regency. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach to reveal the reality of Indonesian language usage in public spaces. The findings of this study include two main results. First, the portrayal of Indonesian usage on tourism signage and street signs in the areas of Tulehu, Waai, Liang, and Morella, which contains 16 data points (10 tourism signage data and 6 street sign data). These are only three tourism signs (in Tulehu, Liang, and Morella) adhered to normative theory, while the rest did not, especially those in Wai, Liang, Tulehu, and Morella. Second, there are four areas where the signs align with communicative theory (Tulehu, Waai, Liang); however, two data points in Tulehu and Morella do not align due to incorrect writing on street signs, which causes confusion among road users. This study makes a significant contribution to the development of language policy, particularly in organizing Indonesian language in public spaces in Central Maluku Regency. The results can serve as a reference for local governments, tourism destination managers, and the public to raise awareness and skills in using proper and correct Indonesian, thus creating a positive regional image and facilitating public communication

Abstract

The role of women as breadwinners is often considered unusual in Muslim societies, which traditionally associate this role with men. However, in Konang Galis Village, Pamekasan, the phenomenon of women working or even being the main providers for their families has become a common occurrence, unbound by local religious or cultural norms. This study aims to understand the reasons women become breadwinners, their feelings about this role, and the responses from those close to them. Additionally, the research explores their income levels and their hopes for the future of their households. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach in Konang Galis Village, Pamekasan. Data were collected through documentation from interviews with two female breadwinners and direct observations in the field. The findings indicate that the reasons for women working vary, ranging from personal desires to economic factors, such as husbands who are unable to work. There is no coercion from any party; in fact, there is support from family and the surrounding environment. The informants earn sufficient income to meet their family needs and express a desire to continue working in the future. This research provides insights into gender dynamics within household economic roles in rural Muslim communities. The results of this study can serve as a reference for gender studies, social policies, and economics, as well as for further research in sociology and Islamic studies.
