Abstract

It was a correlational research studying about social relationship harmonization among teachers (X) and teacher performance (Y) at State Senior High School 8 Pekanbaru. This research aimed at knowing teacher performance level, social relationship harmonization level among teachers, and the correlation between both variables. All teachers that were 83 teachers were the population of this research. Questionnaire and documentation were the techniques of collecting the data. The data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment correlation formula. Based on the analysis results, it showed that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. It meant that there was a positive significant correlation between social relationship harmonization among teachers and teacher performance at State Senior High School 8 Pekanbaru. It could be seen from the difference between robserved 0.409 and rtable 0.2159 at 5% significant level with N=83, so robserved was higher than rtable (0.409>02159). Based on the data results of the coefficient of linear regression, it showed that the probability score or the significant score 0.000 was lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.05). Based on the coefficient of determination, it was obtained the score that was 0.167 or 16.7%, and it was merged into 17%. It meant that the contribution of the variable of social relationship harmonization among teachers toward the variable of teacher performance at State Senior High School 8 Pekanbaru was 17%, and the rest was influenced by other variables. So, it was needed to build the harmonic social relationship among teachers to increase teacher performance.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the students' mathematical problem-solving abilities in solving higher order thinking skills (HOTS) oriented mathematics problems in algebra material, particularly reviewed from their learning styles. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The subjects of this research consisted of 6 students of Class VIII Science 4 at MTs Negeri 1 Surakarta. Data collection techniques consist of questionnaires, tests, and interviews. Data analysis techniques consist of data presentation, data reduction, and conclusion. The results of this research are the mathematical problem-solving abilities of Class VIII Science 4 students based on the visual learning style type which is the same as the auditory learning style in solving problems on linear equation system in two variable material, namely being able to carry out up to the fourth stage of Polya (understanding problems, planning, solving problems, and looking back at the process). Meanwhile, the mathematical problem-solving abilities of Class VIII Science 4 students are based on the kinesthetic learning style, namely implementing up to the third stage of Polya (understanding the problem, planning, and solving the problem).

Abstract

This study aims to describe the efforts of supervisors of the Tanah Datar Regency education office at Batusangkar Progressive Vocational School in optimizing the supervisory function to improve the quality of education. The type of research is qualitative with a case study approach carried out online through google meet—research data obtained utilizing in-depth interviews. The data shows that the optimization of the supervision function follows the purpose of supervision, which is carried out regularly and continuously. The method used to optimize the supervisory function is academic and managerial supervision. All problems can be solved independently at the time of supervision. Follow-up for other problems is to provide alternatives in creative supervision, modeling, and OKE PDKT techniques. This study offers a supervisor to better understand and improve his quality as a school supervisor to realize a highly competitive education.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills in addressing contextual mathematical problems by implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in Grade X at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Surakarta. Using a classroom action research approach with two cycles, data collection included learning observations and critical thinking skills tests. The findings indicate that the implementation of the PBL model effectively enhances students' critical thinking skills in solving contextual mathematical problems. This is evidenced by an increase in students' critical thinking test scores from Cycle I to Cycle II. Furthermore, learning observations revealed improvements in students' engagement, enthusiasm, and proficiency in analyzing and solving contextual mathematics problems. This study underscores the importance for mathematics educators to integrate the PBL model into their teaching practices to enhance students' critical thinking skills. The PBL model has been proven effective in fostering student motivation, increasing participation in learning activities, and cultivating critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning is the ability of a person's brain that includes the presentation of statements, making conjectures, performing mathematical manipulations, and presenting conclusions. This study aims to analyze or describe the ability of mathematical reasoning in solving trigonometric problems based on Van Hiele's level of thinking among high school students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques consist of tests and interviews. Data analysis involves data presentation, reduction, and conclusion. The results of this study show that students at level 0 (visualization) of Van Hiele's level of thinking have one indicator of mathematical reasoning ability, which is to present statements. Students at level 1 (analysis) of Van Hiele's level of thinking have two indicators of mathematical reasoning: presenting statements and making conjectures. Students at level 2 (informal cut) of Van Hiele's level of thinking have three indicators of mathematical reasoning: presenting statements, making conjectures, and mathematical manipulations. Students at level 3 (deduction) of Van Hiele's level of thinking have four indicators of mathematical reasoning ability: presenting statements, making conjectures, mathematical manipulations, and drawing conclusions. Therefore, the higher the thinking level of the students at Van Hiele, the higher their mathematical reasoning ability. Whereas, the lower the Van Hiele thinking level of students, the lower their mathematical reasoning ability.

Abstract

Technological literacy among high school mathematics teachers is a crucial aspect in realizing creative, interactive, and relevant learning to meet the demands of the 21st century. However, the reality on the ground shows that most mathematics teachers still have limited experience in improving technological literacy, particularly in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) as a learning support medium. This condition has implications for low innovation in the mathematics learning process. This community service activity aims to optimize the use of AI, specifically Generative-AI technology, in supporting mathematics learning in high schools. The target group is members of the High School Mathematics Subject Teachers' Conference (MGMP) throughout Grobogan Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia. The implementation method includes workshops, interactive discussions, hands-on practice, and mentoring in the development of AI-based mathematics teaching materials, assessments, and learning media. The training materials include an introduction to the basic concepts of Generative-AI, effective prompting techniques, and practice using various AI applications to produce interactive and contextual teaching materials. Evaluation results showed that all training participants agreed or strongly agreed that this activity successfully improved their understanding of the basic concepts of Generative AI and their skills in operating AI applications for mathematics learning. Participants also reported increased confidence in integrating AI technology into their teaching practices, as well as gaining various relevant practical ideas for classroom implementation. High enthusiasm was evident in the 100% commitment of participants who expressed their readiness to implement AI technology in mathematics learning. Thus, this training not only contributed to improving teachers' technological literacy but also became a strategic step in encouraging innovative and adaptive transformation of mathematics learning in the digital era.

Abstract

Using schemes of Euclid's geometrical concepts in long-term memory to understand hyperbolic geometry and elliptic geometry concepts with assimilation and accommodation allows for cognitive conflict. This study aims to reduce the occurrence of cognitive conflict by understanding the mathematical content of the three of Euclidean geometries, hyperbolic and elliptic. The research was conduct used descriptive exploratory. The results indicate that Euclid's geometry representation is still used in representing hyperbolic and elliptic geometry so that cognitive conflict occurs. Cognitive conflicts that occur are related to the position of two lines, parallels, two triangles with the same that correspond angles, intersects one of two parallel lines, the number of angles in a triangle, and Sacherri's valid hypothesis. The efforts that can be made to reduce the occurrence of cognitive conflict are to change existing schemes or create new schemes so that the information obtained can be combined into existing schemes in a deductive axiomatic approach to material content through the accommodation process
