Abstract

Many new learning models in the 21st century have emerged in improving students' academic skills, one of which is research-based learning (RBL). This pedagogic and constructivist model connects research and learning in improving students' critical thinking skills (CTS). The results of the study show that studies in empowering students' CTS using RBL are still limited. Therefore, exploration and deeper measurement of CTS with the RBL model were carried out through this study. The purpose of this study was to improve students' CTS using the RBL learning model. The results of the ANCOVA test showed that there was an effect of the RBL model in improving students' CTS. Descriptive data also shows that the average value of CTS is 72.70 using RBL, while students who take part in learning using conventional models show an average value of critical thinking skills of 58.30. Thus, RBL can be recommended in increasing the CTS of elementary school students in science learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the correlation between self-awareness, mitigating learning loss, and student science learning outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Data was collected using a correlational study, a questionnaire, and data analysis using linear regression using the SPSS 16.00 application. The analysis results found that the correlation value or R correlation between self-awareness and learning outcomes was 0.020. The coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.000. In contrast, the regression between learning loss and learning outcomes was R, which was -0.073, the coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.005. The self-awareness regression coefficient on the correlation between self-awareness and learning outcomes is 0.018 or only 0.02%, so the equation becomes Y = 83,287 + 0.018X. In the correlation between self-awareness and learning outcomes, the regression coefficient of learning loss is -.119 or only <0, so the regression equation formed is Y = 94.480 -.199X. Therefore, it can be concluded that self-awareness has no correlation with students' cognitive learning outcomes, and there is no correlation between learning loss mitigation and student learning outcomes during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Learning on small islands in Maluku still has many obstacles. It is limited by inadequate supporting facilities and infrastructure in the form of internet availability in accessing learning materials. Maluku's natural resources, both biological and non-biological, are very abundant. However, they have not been managed properly in improving the community's welfare. Therefore, education is one of the spearheads in improving the quality of students so that they can manage the existing nature well in the future. One of the recommended lessons is IBL-STEWeb to improve the academic quality of students. The use of IBL-STEWeb can take into account the involvement of students' preconceptions, provide in-depth basic knowledge, help students make connections within the context of a conceptual framework, and can map students' knowledge in a way that facilitates the search and application of information

Abstract

Contemporary culture has disturbed the local community's culture, which has been maintained since the time of the ancestors. The Tanimbar culture has been preserved and maintained. Tifa Tanimbar is a small musical instrument used for arts and cultural performances of the community. It is one of the heritage and wealth of an area different from other regions. This study shows something different, namely Tifa, in learning physics. This study aimed to analyze the conceptual physics of students based on ethnoscience on the Tifa concept in the Tanimbar Islands. The research was conducted in 10 elementary schools in the Tanimbar Islands Regency with 300 students with 175 male students and 125 female students. The questions given to test students' conceptual tests were physics diagnostic tests, totaling 6 questions. The study results informed that the average conceptual physics of students related to Tifa was 55.42. It indicates that the conceptual physics of elementary school students is still very weak with a good category. Therefore, there is a solution to develop ethnophysics-based teaching materials with orientation to local potentials affiliated with science in improving students' conceptual physics. This research implies that teachers can develop teaching materials that foster students' cognition with surrounding phenomena based on local culture

Abstract

In this study investigated Gardner's intelligence in physics students. The sample surveyed was 360 physics students, namely physics education study programs, physics and elementary school teacher education at several universities in Maluku. The instrument used is Gardner's 1999 intelligence with 24 questions out of 9 intelligences. The results obtained indicate that the intelligences that are superior to ethnic physics students in Maluku are Mathematical Logic, Music, Interpersonal and Naturalistic. While verbal, kinesthetic, intrapersonal, and spatial intelligence is still weak. Therefore, it is necessary to apply models, strategies, and approaches and techniques that are appropriate in increasing student intelligence. To increase Gardner science student intelligence, at least pay attention to Gardner intelligence (GI) theory in the science curriculum. These findings may help to provide some practical implications for the development of effective problem-solving, creativity, critical and communicative skills in teaching physics

Abstract

This study discusses students' difficulties in learning science related to writing simple scientific papers. So far, teachers in the classroom have focused more on providing knowledge without involving a good understanding of concepts related to writing scientific papers. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the causes of students' difficulties in writing scientific papers. This research is a servei study in the form of 24 questions in the form of questionnaires for 148 people consisting of 57 male students and 91 female students in the Science class at SMA Negeri 14 Central Maluku. The findings prove that the dominance of language in research has become an obstacle in publication. This has made writing scientific papers difficult. Another aspect is the interference of different cultural views, linking the text with the views of the scientific community, arguments, grammar rules, and so on. All of this must be supported by a good understanding of scientific concepts by utilizing the original surrounding environment as a strength value that is different from other regions. This study then proposes suggestions for further research when students write for publication in a way to make claims to their knowledge. Future research is to focus on deeper investigation of ways to make knowledge claims and how students deal with that aspect so that the publication of scientific papers can be achieved.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze students' scientific creativity in each domain with an essay test referring to the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. This research was conducted on 50 teachers and 500 students in 10 elementary schools in Cluster 2, Nusaniwe District, Ambon City. The results of this study report descriptive demographic results of respondents and the level of creativity, namely fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration among students is very good. The results of the study as a whole show that most of the students are at a good level after being taught with the PjBL model. Students increase their creativity with the teacher's instructions and directions. Initially in detail, many students lack the dimensions of fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration so they cannot provide more ideas, and cannot provide answers. So that the originality becomes less and they have no ideas to elaborate further than the answers given. However, based on the findings from several student meetings, there has been a significant increase. This is because it applies a problem-oriented learning model that enhances each realm of creativity in science subjects. In addition, the researcher also recommends conducting more in-depth research on creative thinking processes among students based on the local advantages of each school based on geographical location which has its own unique value. Therefore, teachers are expected to be able to better understand cognitively, affectively and psychomotor in students' minds and possibly improve students' creative thinking skills on each dimension of creativity
