Abstract

Accelerating the reduction of maternal and child mortality rates can be done by accessing quality maternal health services by antenatal care. This study aimed to identify the spatial distribution pattern of antenatal service coverage in Jambi Municipality in 2019-2021. Global and local Moran Index using Local Indicator for Spatial Autocorrelation (LISA) analysis was used in this study to map hotspots and lowspots of antenatal service coverage. This research used an ecological study with the unit of analysis of all sub-district in Jambi Municipality, totalling 62 sub-districts. Data on antenatal care coverage (K1 and K4) from 2019 to 2021 at the sub-district level were obtained from 20 community health centers. The results of this study found a positive autocorrelation of K1 and K4 from 2019 to 2021. The results of the analysis using LISA found that K1 and K4 coverage hotspots have the same pattern in the northwest direction of Jambi Municipality covering Danau Teluk, Pelayangan, Pasar Jambi districts and K1 and K4 lowspots with the same pattern in the Southwest, Southeast, and South directions covering Alam Barajo and Kota Baru districts. Knowing the pattern of distribution of antenatal service coverage (K1 and K4) can determine the priority areas that need to be improved antenatal service coverage in Jambi Municipality.

Abstract

Abstract

Malnutrition cases nationally are still high, namely 21.6% in 2022. Limited knowledge and skills of cadres in monitoring growth and development affect the assessment of nutritional status (PSG) in children under five. Wrong methods of measuring and using anthropometric tools will give inaccurate measurement results. The validity and reliability of the data will influence the results and policy plans chosen. Campuses and the academic community must play an active role in assisting promotive and preventive efforts to overcome public health problems.Tangkit Village, Sungai Gelam District, as an Integrated Laboratory Village (DLT), is the village at the locus of integrated stunting reduction interventions in 2022, with the highest number of stunting cases in Muaro Jambi Regency, namely 127 cases. Kader Posyandu are volunteers or volunteers who carry out activities at Posyandu. During the last four years there has never been any posyandu management training or refreshing of materials relating to PSG using anthropometric tools so that the practice of monitoring growth and development for Kader Posyandu is important. The results obtained from this service are that the majority of Kader Posyandu in Tangkit Village already have quite high knowledge, good attitudes and good PSG practice skills. There was an increase in knowledge, attitudes and practices of Nutritional Status Monitoring (PSG) among Tangkit Village Kader Posyandu after Community Service activities were carried out.

Abstract

Smoking and tuberculosis (TB) are still health problems in Indonesia, Jambi Province and Jambi Municipality. Smoking is a risk factor for TB. Activities to eradicate smoking and TB need to be carried out in RT.08, Beliung Subdistrict, and need to be carried out taking into account the wishes of the chairman of RT.08, Beliung Subdistrict, to establish a Smoke-Free Zone (KTR) in that area. The solution offered is to create a smoke and TB free area. The aim is reducing the impact of smoking on public health and increasing the finding of TB cases through community-based activities. Community service activities that have been carried out include discussions with residents regarding planned activities to be carried out, outreach and education regarding KTR and TB, and declaring smoke and TB free. Activities to establish a smoke-free and tuberculosis-free area in RT 08 Beliung Village have been carried out well. This is indicated by support from various parties and the participation of residents in activities. There needs to be monitored and evaluated by related parties to ensure that RT 08 Beliung Village is truly free from cigarette smoke and TB.

Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) is a manifestation of malnutrition characterized by an inadequate energy intake over a prolonged period in pregnant women, resulting in adverse health outcomes due to a relative or absolute deficiency of one or more essential nutrients. The 2023 SKI results indicate that malnutrition among pregnant women remains a problem, with nearly 3 out of 10 pregnant women experiencing anemia and 17% at risk of CED. According to data from the Jambi City Health Office, Putri Ayu Public Health Center (Puskesmas Putri Ayu) has the highest number of CED cases, with 67 affected pregnant women. The main objective of this study is to explain the underlying factors contributing to the high prevalence of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) and to inform the development of evidence-based health interventions aimed at reducing this condition. This study employed a quantitative research method with a case-control design. The sampling technique used was purposive total sampling, involving 78 pregnant women in the Putri Ayu Public Health Center area, Jambi City. Data collection was conducted in October 2024, using a questionnaire as the research instrument. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between CED and parity (p=0.034), anemia (p=0.013), attitude (p=0.000), and the role of health workers (p=0.000). No significant relationship was found between CED and age (p=1.000), pregnancy spacing (p=0.615), and knowledge (p=0.359) in pregnant women. The findings indicate that parity, anemia, attitude, and the role of health workers are significantly associated with the occurrence of CED in pregnant women, while age, pregnancy spacing, and knowledge are not significantly associated.

Abstract

Dental caries in children remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia, including in Jambi City. Based on data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey, the prevalence of caries in school-aged children reached over 40%, impacting quality of life, academic achievement, and the economic burden on families. Low knowledge and inappropriate tooth-brushing behavior are the main factors contributing to the high incidence of caries. The objective of this community service is to improve students' dental health knowledge and behavior, and to implement a professional collective toothbrushing program in elementary schools. This activity consisted of five stages: coordination with partners, dental health education, collective toothbrushing practice, mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation. The community service activity successfully improved children's knowledge about dental health and brushing skills.
