Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Islamic literacy-based STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) multimedia in enhancing students' computational thinking skills in a basic physics practicum course. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a mixed-methods approach, involving two groups: an experimental group that received instruction through Islamic literacy-based STEM multimedia and a control group that used conventional methods. The instruments used included a computational thinking skills test, designed to measure four primary indicators: abstraction, algorithm, decomposition, and pattern generalization, as well as in-depth interviews to explore students' learning experiences. Quantitative data were analyzed using a t-test to determine significant differences between the two groups, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The findings indicated a significant improvement across all computational thinking indicators in the experimental group. Qualitative analysis further revealed that integrating Islamic literacy deepened students' understanding of physics concepts, offering a spiritual context that enriched their learning experiences. These findings suggest that Islamic literacy-based STEM multimedia is not only effective in enhancing computational thinking skills but is also well-suited for educational contexts that integrate technology and spirituality. The implications of this study support the development of a holistic curriculum in STEM education aligned with spiritual values.

Abstract

Music has been used in Islamic education from classical times to the modern era for various purposes. However, there are differences in the views of scholars and changes in the method of their use as the times develop. This research aims to examine the use of music as a teaching tool in Islamic education in various historical periods, explore the views of scholars, and analyze the factors that influence the development of music in Islamic learning. This study uses a literature study method (library research) with content analysis techniques. The data sources consist of Islamic classical literature, journal articles, books, previous research results, and digital documents that discuss music in Islamic education. Source triangulation is done to ensure the validity of the data by comparing and confirming information from various references. The results of the study show that music has been used in Islamic education since the classical period to aid the learning of the Qur'an and Islamic science, as acknowledged by Al-Farabi and Al-Ghazali. In the Sufism tradition, music is a spiritual means and moral education. In the middle period, there was a difference of opinion on its use. In the modern era, technology expands access to music in education through digital media and interactive applications. Cultural acculturation also plays a role in its implementation, such as the use of gamelan in Java and gambus in Sumatra. Globalization has further encouraged the use of modern musical instruments in contemporary Islamic education. The results of this study provide insight into the dynamics of the use of music in Islamic education and its contribution to teaching methods. These findings can serve as a reference for educators and academics in developing innovative approaches that are in line with the times and still pay attention to Islamic values.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of Law of Attraction (LoA) and its relationship with Islamic spirituality, focusing on the comparison of the basic principles of LoA and Islamic teachings in building a positive mindset, affirmation, visualization, and confidence in the desired results. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach through a literature review of the concept of LoA explained in the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and Quranic Law of Attraction by Rusdin S. Rauf. The analysis was carried out by comparing the principles of LoA with values in Islamic teachings, such as prayer, tawakkal, and gratitude. The results show that LoA and Islam have similarities in emphasizing the importance of positive thinking, focusing on goals, and affirmation and visualization as tools to strengthen beliefs. However, there are fundamental differences in the sources of power that are believed; LoA relies on the energy of the universe, while Islam affirms that everything happens by Allah's will. Therefore, the application of LoA for a Muslim must remain within the framework of the Islamic faith, without replacing belief in Allah with belief in the power of the mind alone. The principles of LoA can be applied in the life of a Muslim as long as it remains in harmony with the teachings of Islam, namely by understanding that human efforts must be accompanied by prayer and tawakkal to Allah. This study is expected to be a reference for the development of a more balanced understanding of LoA from an Islamic perspective. Further research is suggested to explore the application of this concept in practical aspects of life as well as how LoA can contribute to improving the motivation and spiritual well-being of Muslims.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze research trends in gamification focusing on science education and explore opportunities for further development. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, a total of 126 relevant publications were identified from the Publish or Perish database indexed by Scopus, with 43 documents from the 2019–2023 period selected and analyzed based on inclusion criteria. These criteria include articles discussing gamification in science education, English-language articles, open-access publications, and Scopus-indexed articles. The literature review process followed PRISMA guidelines to ensure the quality of results, and data were analyzed using bibliometric methods with the assistance of VOSviewer 1.6.20 software. The results indicate significant fluctuations in the number of publications and citations year by year, reflecting the dynamics of research activity. Most publications originate from Spain, the United States, and Malaysia, with quantitative methods being the most widely used approach (51%). The main themes explored include student engagement, motivation, and conceptual understanding, particularly in STEM subjects. Collaborative networks highlight the importance of diverse perspectives in advancing gamification research. Density analysis reveals that the long-term impact and scalability of gamification in educational science still hold substantial potential for exploration. Therefore, further studies are urgently needed to optimize the role of gamification and maximize its benefits in the learning process.
