Abstract

The bangle plant (Zingiber montanum) is a plant that has been used traditionally as a medicinal ingredient, both for prevention and treatment by the community. Parts of the bangle plant contain active compounds that act as antioxidants, one of which is flavonoids. This research aims to determine the total flavonoid content in bangle plants from the extraction results measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The method for separating flavonoid levels used is maceration. The research results showed that positive test results were obtained for flavonoid compounds in bangle rhizomes as evidenced by qualitative test results which produced a red color in the sample extract and the average total flavonoid content in bangle rhizomes from the extraction results measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer was 23. 1mg/100g.

Abstract

Durian seeds have a high starch content, making it possible to be used as a raw material for making tempeh as an alternative to soybeans This research aims to make tempeh using durian seeds as raw material and determine the taste of durian seed tempeh using organoleptic tests. The method used to make tempeh from durian seeds is by fermentation, the durian seed samples are washed, cleaned, then boiled and the hard skin removed, then sliced and steamed until soft. The final stage of the two-day fermentation process continues with packaging. To determine suitability for consumption, an organoleptic/taste test (color, taste, texture and aroma) is carried out. The panelists who determined the taste consisted of several people from the Chemistry Study Program, FKIP UNTAD. The results of the study showed that durian seed tempeh was less white compared to soybean tempeh. The panelists' organoleptic tests for color liking levels stated that they liked 50% and disliked 50%, for taste 60% liked, liked 10% and disliked 30%, and texture panelists stated that they liked 60% and disliked 40% and 70% liked the aroma and 30% disliked it. The conclusion obtained in this research is that durian seeds can be used as an alternative for making tempeh and can reduce durian seed waste

Abstract

The herbaceous Belugas leaves (Pluchea indica L.) belong to the Asteraceae family and are commonly utilized as food and hedges. They typically grow wild. Alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, tannins, triterpenes, and steroids are among the substances found in belugas leaves that may have insecticidal properties. The purpose of this study is to use the leaf extract of Beluntas (Pluchea indica L.) as a foundational component for liquid mosquito repellant. In order to produce a thick extract of beluntas leaves, this study used an extraction process that involved evaporating 96% ethanol solvent. Several concentrations of the thick extract were diluted, including 15%, 25%, 35%, 45%, and 55%. The collected data, which was mosquito mortality, was subjected to a One-Way Anova test with a significance level of p = 0.000 <0.05, and then the Duncan test.  The findings demonstrated that the number of mosquitoes that perished varied depending on the concentration fluctuations of beluntas leaf extract, with the highest concentration of beluntas leaf extract killing mosquitoes at a rate of 55% and a mosquito mortality percentage of 98.4%.

Abstract

This service activity aims to improve the ability of teachers to utilize ICT and make ICT-based learning media. The activities carried out include material presentation and practice of making learning media. In the material presentation, the teachers were provided with information about the forms of learning media and the use of ICT in making learning media. In the practical activity, the teachers were guided to make learning media in the form of bulletins and integrate character education into the bulletins. The learning media in the form of bulletins made by teachers is integrated with character education, therefore the learning media made is called BICE (Bulletin Integrated Character Education) learning media. The results of the activity show that the activities carried out can improve the ability of teachers to utilize ICT and create ICT-based learning media through BICE. The ability of teachers in this case increased from the Poor category to the good category. Abstrak Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan ICT dan membuat media pembelajaran berbasis ICT. Kegiatan yang dilaksanakan meliputi penyampaian materi dan praktek pembuatan media pembelajaran. Pada penyampaian materi, para guru dibekali dengan informasi mengenai bentuk-bentuk media pembelajaran dan pemanfaatan ICT dalam membuat media pembelajaran. Pada kegiatan praktek, para guru dibimbing untuk membuat media pembelajaran dalam bentuk bulletin dan mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter di dalam bulletin tersebut. Media pembelajaran dalam bentuk bulletin yang dibuat oleh guru diintegrasikan dengan pendidikan karakter oleh karena itu media pembelajaran yang dibuat disebut dengan media pembelajaran BICE (Bulletin Integrated Character Education). Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan yang dilakukan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan guru dalam memanfaatkan ICT dan membuat media pembelajaran berbasis ICT melalui BICE. Kemampuan guru dalam hal ini meningkat dari kategori cukup baik menjadi kategori baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji kesalahan berbahasa pada tataran fonologi dalam penulisan spanduk di Kota Watampone. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk kesalahan fonologi pada spanduk di wilayah tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, dengan data tertulis yang bersumber dari spanduk di Kota Watampone. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data meliputi (1) pengumpulan data, (2) reduksi data, (3) penyajian data, dan (4) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya kesalahan fonologi bahasa Indonesia pada spanduk di Kota Watampone, yang mencakup (1) perubahan fonem, (2) penambahan fonem, dan (3) penghilangan fonem. Kesalahan fonologi ini dapat digunakan sebagai acuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai kaidah-kaidah bahasa Indonesia yang benar, serta untuk mengaplikasikan Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia (PUEBI) dan Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI) dalam penulisan yang lebih sesuai.

Abstract

Desa Tanah Harapan Kecamatan Palolo Kabupaten Sigi merupakan salah satu daerah yang anggota masyarakatnya umumnya adalah petani persawahan (petani padi) dan buruh tani. Luas lahan persawahan yang ada di kecamatan Palolo mencapai 2951 ha, yang tersebar pada 11 desa. Desa Tanah Harapan luas lahan persawahannya 766 ha dengan produksi gabah kering giling 1225 ton pertahun, kebun tanaman keras berupa kakao dan kelapa luasnya sekitar 1002 Ha. Padi/gabah yang masuk dalam penggilingan padi di desa Tanah Harapan dan desa sekitarnya rata-rata sebesar 12,8 ton perhari. Pada penggilingan padi akan di hasilkan sekam sekitar   20-30%   sekam   padi. Berdasarkan hal tersebut maka setiap harinya akan dihasilkan limbah sekam padi 2,6-3,8 ton. Masalah yang dihadapi masyarakat adalah belum adanya teknologi pemanfaatan limbah sekam padi tersebut ke arah yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi agar dapat memberi nilai tambah pada masyarakat sehingga dapat meningkatkan tarap hidup masyarakat di desa Tanah Harapan dan desa sekitarnya. Program pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan petani dalam mendesain teknologi pembuatan arang briket dan asap cair dari sekam padi serta arang sekam padi sebagai salah satu bahan penjernih air dan teknologi asap cair sebagai salah satu bahan pengawet alami. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penyuluhan dan pelatihan serta demplot aplikasi yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Kegiatan pelatihan dan workshop dilakukan dalam upaya meningkatkan pengetahuan sedang pelatihan dan demplot dilakukan dalam upaya mempercepat proses alih teknologi kepada masyarakat. Hasil akhir dari program ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan petani serta tersedianya paket teknologi pembuatan arang briket dari sekam padi dan teknologi pembuatan asap cair dari sekam padi sehingga kelompok sasaran tersebut dapat mandiri dalam menjalankan kegiatan usaha pemanfaatan limbah sekam padi menggunakan rakitan teknologi yang telah dipraktekkan tersebut secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Penyalahgunaan antibiotik masih menjadi tantangan serius di masyarakat, terutama akibat rendahnya pemahaman mengenai perbedaan antara infeksi bakteri dan virus. Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) bertema “Antibiotik Bukan untuk Semua Penyakit” dilaksanakan di RW 02 Kelurahan Tobuuha, Kecamatan Puuwatu, Kota Kendari, dengan tujuan meningkatkan literasi masyarakat terhadap penggunaan antibiotik yang rasional. Metode kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan participatory community engagement melalui penyuluhan interaktif, simulasi edukatif, dan pembagian media informasi seperti leaflet. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan pre-test dan post-test untuk menilai peningkatan pengetahuan peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dari 60% peserta yang menjawab benar pada pre-test menjadi 90% pada post-test, menandakan efektivitas kegiatan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang penggunaan antibiotik yang tepat. Kegiatan ini juga mendorong peran aktif keluarga dalam pengawasan penggunaan obat serta mendukung program nasional pengendalian resistensi antimikroba. Edukasi berbasis komunitas terbukti menjadi strategi efektif untuk membentuk perilaku rasional dalam penggunaan antibiotik dan menekan risiko resistensi di masyarakat.

Abstract

Menerapkan Kurikulum Merdeka di Indonesia, diperlukan pergeseran paradigma menuju pembelajaran berpusat pada siswa. Pendekatan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) adalah salah satu cara untuk mencapai hal ini. Metode ini menjamin bahwa pembelajaran disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan unik siswa, latar belakang budaya mereka, dan tahap perkembangan mereka. Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran Kimia (MGMP) Kota Palu menemukan beberapa masalah dalam penerapan TaRL. Beberapa masalah termasuk pemahaman guru yang kurang tentang pendekatan TaRL; kesulitan dalam memilih metode, bahan ajar, media, skenario pembelajaran, dan teknik evaluasi yang sesuai dengan berbagai karakteristik dan kebutuhan siswa. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, 40 guru kimia SMA anggota MGMP Kimia Kota Palu menerima pelatihan dan pendampingan dengan menggunakan kerangka MERDEKA. Kegiatan ini mengajarkan peserta untuk membuat metode evaluasi pembelajaran kimia yang sesuai dengan pendekatan TaRL. Pendaftaran hak kekayaan intelektual, publikasi ilmiah, peningkatan kapasitas guru, dan dokumen instrumen penilaian berbasis TaRL adalah luaran dari kegiatan.

Abstract

Interpretative reading ability is a crucial skill in English language education, as it requires students not only to comprehend literal meanings but also to critically interpret and evaluate information. However, instructional practices in higher education remain dominated by conventional, decontextualized teaching materials, which insufficiently support the development of higher-order thinking skills. This study aimed to (1) identify students’ needs regarding interpretative reading materials and (2) design and develop task-based instructional materials to enhance interpretative reading ability. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg & Gall model, encompassing needs analysis, design, development, expert validation, revision, and limited field testing. Data were collected through needs questionnaires, interviews, and expert judgments, and were analyzed using descriptive qualitative and quantitative techniques. The findings indicate that students require more contextualized and interactive interpretative reading materials equipped with explicit strategies to help them overcome difficulties in understanding implicit meanings, making inferences, and analyzing text structure. Questionnaire data reveal that most students need a variety of authentic tasks, step-by-step reading guidance, task completion models, and collaborative activities to enhance engagement and interpretative comprehension. Based on these findings, task-based materials were successfully designed by integrating pre-task, task-cycle, and post-task stages, complemented by interpretative strategy exercises, analytical tasks, group collaboration, and formative evaluation in each unit. This design is considered responsive to students’ needs and has the potential to effectively improve interpretative reading ability in English language learning contexts at the tertiary level.

Abstract

Tea dregs are household organic waste materials that can be utilized as low-cost adsorbents for heavy metal removal. Previous studies mainly employed green tea dregs and focused on Cu(II) adsorption, while studies on Fe(III) adsorption using black tea dregs and their direct application to Fe-contaminated water remain limited. This study evaluates the adsorption performance of black tea dregs toward Fe(III) ions and their application in water samples. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted using FeCl₃ solutions at pH 4.8 to determine the optimum contact time (15–90 minutes) and initial concentration (100–300 ppm). Fe(III) concentrations were analyzed using UV–Vis spectrophotometry. The results demonstrated an optimal contact time of 60 min and an optimal concentration, achieving 99.26% adsorption efficiency. Adsorption followed the Langmuir isotherm model with a maximum capacity of 37.04 mg/g (R² = 0.998). Application to well water samples resulted in 83.74% Fe removal, confirming the potential of black tea dregs as adsorbents.
