Abstract

Scientific literacy is an ability that students must have. Selection of the right module can improve scientific literacy skills. This study aims to analyze the effect and effectiveness of using electronic modules with an ethnoscience approach to increasing scientific literacy skills. The research used a quasi-experimental study with 64 research subjects in class VIII C as the experimental class and VIII D as the control class at SMP Negeri 1 Limbangan 2022/2023 academic year. Analysis of the effect of using electronic modules with an ethnoscience approach with the independent sample t-test formula on the posttest obtained tcount = 2.379> ttable (1.999) with sig(2-tailed) = 0.02 <0.05, so that there are differences in the test scores of the experimental class higher than the control class. The increase in scientific literacy skills after using an electronic module with an ethnoscience approach was analyzed using the N-Gain test in the experimental class, it was found that 0.396 was in the medium category and 0.217 in the control class was in the low category. So it can be concluded that the electronic module with an ethnoscience approach has an effect and can improve students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

21st century learning emphasizes the integration of technology and communication (ICT) in teaching and learning activities. The use of ICT is able to support the learning process. Based on the results of interviews at SMPN 1 Pucakwangi, cognitive learning outcomes were still low due to the use of inappropriate learning models and students' lack of understanding of the subject matter. In addition, students' digital literacy is still low due to the lack of application of technology in learning activities. This study aims to analyze students' cognitive abilities and digital literacy using the TPACK-based CUPs learning model. This research method is a quasy experiment using the pretest-posttest control group design method. The results showed that the gain in the experimental class was higher than the control class by 0.712. The results of the effect test using the Independent Sample t-test found a significant difference after treatment with t count > t table of 2.2103 which indicates that there is an effect of using the TPACK-based CUPs learning model on cognitive learning outcomes. Questionnaire data experienced an increase in the average value of digital literacy in the experimental class 81.02, which was greater than the control class. The results of the influence test on the second hypothesis obtained a t count > t table of 2.00452 so that there was a significant difference after treatment.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability is one of the core skills that must be developed in elementary school education, considering its importance in forming analytical thinking and effective problem solving. The right learning model can be the key to facilitating the development of students' abilities. This research aims to identify the role of learning models in improving students' critical thinking abilities, by emphasizing the importance of these abilities in the current educational context. The literature review method is used to collect data from various related literature sources. This type of research is analytical descriptive which examines theories about learning and critical thinking. The results of the literature review show that the application of relevant learning models can significantly influence the development of students' critical thinking skills, especially through student-centered learning (Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL), flipped classroom, and technology-based learning), collaborative learning (jigsaw and integration STEM), and the use of problem solving models (Problem Based Learning (PBL), inquiry-based learning, and project-based learning). The implication of this research is the importance of integrating learning models that support the development of critical thinking in learning design in schools. This research provides a strong theoretical basis for the development of more effective learning strategies in the context of elementary school education. Further research is recommended to empirically test the effectiveness of these learning models in different classroom contexts.

Abstract

21st century skills that must be mastered by students in an era of rapid technological development, one of which is digital literacy and HOTS. Therefore, there is a need for innovation in form of E-worksheet with the TPACK approach to train students' digital literacy and HOTS. TPACK can integrate technology with learning. This study aims to analyze the validity of E-worksheets with the TPACK approach to train students' digital literacy and HOTS, and also to analyzing students' digital literacy and HOTS profiles after using the product. This type of research is Development which uses the ADDIE model. The average value of Aiken's E-worksheet products with the TPACK approach which was validated by 5 experts was 0.94 indicating that E-worksheet products developed were valid to be used to train students' digital literacy and HOTS. The digital literacy profile of 27 students is 7% very good criteria, 48% good criteria, and 45% good enough criteria. The HOTS profile of 27 students is 67% good criteria and 33% good enough criteria. It can be concluded that the E-worksheets with the TPACK approach is valid and can be used to train students' HOTS digital literacy.

Abstract

Many countries are transitioning from conventional energy to renewable energy sources. This transformation requires support through socialization and training activities targeting all sectors of society, including educators in schools. The Al-Hidayah Waqaf Foundation in Thailand is an educational institution with educators who have limited knowledge regarding the implementation of renewable energy as part of energy diversification efforts. Collaborative activities were conducted with the Al-Hidayah Waqaf Foundation in Thailand through socialization and training on renewable energy. The outcomes of these activities provided educators with increased knowledge, information, and perspectives on renewable energy.

Abstract

The Indonesian government mandates that science teachers must have competence in designing science experiments for learning purposes so that science content can be learned optimally by students while preparing them to have the ability to face the 21st century. This is development research that aims to develop a measurement instrument for science experiment design skills for prospective science teachers that meets good psychometric characteristics. The rubric development procedure refers to the Churches rubric development method, which consists of four stages: define, design, do, and debrief, involving 10 experts (lecturers and teachers) and 124 prospective science teachers as research participants. The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the analytical rubric developed by measuring ten aspects, namely title, research objectives, relevant theories, variables, materials, equipment and instrumentation, method, an appropriate number of data, references, and systematic and technical writing was valid in content (CVI=.96), valid in construct (GFI=.94; RMSEA=.071; NFI=.99; CFI=1.00; PNFI=.91), and reliable (α=.968). The use of a standardized rubric certainly allows the assessment to provide consistent, accurate, and objective results and helps students understand what competencies they must achieve.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Ethnoscience-based PjBL model in improving the understanding of Biotechnology concepts through a systematic literature review. The research method uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that follows the PRISMA standard, with data sources obtained from the Scopus and Google Scholar databases for the period 2013–2025. A total of 15 articles that met the inclusion criteria were analyzed using a bibliometric approach and qualitative thematic synthesis. The results of the study show that PjBL-Ethnosains consistently provides a significant improvement in the mastery of Biotechnology concepts across cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Adaptive models such as CEL-BaDiS and CEL-BaDiS Up resulted in increased high-level thinking skills, including creativity and problem-solving, with gains reaching the medium-high category. In conclusion, Ethnoscience-based PjBL effectively strengthens understanding of Biotechnology concepts by integrating local cultural context into the scientific inquiry process. This study suggests developing a PjBL-Ethnoscience model with a more explicit syntax and rigorous experimental testing to produce a more comprehensive quantitative effect measure.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach that aims to explore in depth the factors causing science learning difficulties in students at CLC Holy Trinity. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and interviews to obtain comprehensive data on students' learning experiences. The results of the study indicate that students' learning difficulties are influenced by several main factors, namely less varied learning methods, minimal use of interactive learning media, and a less supportive learning environment. Although some students show sufficient interest in science lessons, many of them find it difficult to understand basic concepts such as force, motion, and energy, especially during independent learning. These findings emphasize the importance of the role of teachers in creating an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, as well as the need to provide relevant learning media. Collaboration between schools, teachers, and parents is needed to overcome these learning barriers. This study is expected to be an input in developing more effective and adaptive learning strategies to the needs of students in the CLC environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the problem solving ability and self-efficacy of students. The results of the problem solving ability research found that students who reached the KKM limit amounted to 2 people. The highest percentage of analysis of students' problem solving ability is in the indicator of understanding the problem, namely 51.7%. The lowest percentage is in the indicator of implementing the plan which is 24.6%. In addition, it was found that the level of self-efficacy of students was in the high category with three self-efficacy variables, namely the level of difficulty of the problem (level), resilience in solving problems (strenght), and breadth (generality). After the analysis, it was found that the relationship between high student self-efficacy was not directly proportional to the problem-solving ability of elementary school students at CLC Kemajuan Insan Inanam. Therefore, a comprehensive approach is needed to overcome the difference between student self-efficacy and student problem solving ability. So as to encourage the development of students' academic potential and thinking skills.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the trend of artificial intelligence (AI) utilization in the development of professionalism of student teachers through literature review and bibliometric analysis. In this study, the methods used include data collection from the Scopus database using a combination of relevant search terms, as well as data selection based on relevance criteria using the PRISMA method. The collected data was then analyzed using Bibliometrix and VOSviewer software to identify patterns and trends in AI-related publications in education. The results showed that since 2022, the number of publications related to AI in education has increased significantly, with the peak occurring in 2024. The research also identified several challenges faced in the application of AI, such as the lack of AI literacy among prospective teachers, limited infrastructure, and ethical and data privacy issues. Nonetheless, with the right approach and a comprehensive strategy, AI has great potential to revolutionize education and improve teacher professionalism in the future. This research is expected to provide insights for educators and policy makers in effectively integrating AI in the learning process. ABSTRAK Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tren pemanfaatan kecerdasan buatan (AI) dalam pengembangan profesionalisme mahasiswa calon guru melalui tinjauan literatur dan analisis bibliometrik. Dalam penelitian ini, metode yang digunakan meliputi pengumpulan data dari database Scopus dengan menggunakan kombinasi istilah pencarian yang relevan, serta seleksi data berdasarkan kriteria relevansi menggunakan metode PRISMA. Data yang terkumpul kemudian dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak Bibliometrix dan VOSviewer untuk mengidentifikasi pola dan tren dalam publikasi terkait AI dalam pendidikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sejak tahun 2022, jumlah publikasi yang berkaitan dengan AI dalam konteks pendidikan mengalami peningkatan yang signifikan, dengan puncaknya terjadi pada tahun 2024. Penelitian ini juga mengidentifikasi beberapa tantangan yang dihadapi dalam penerapan AI, seperti kurangnya literasi AI di kalangan calon guru, keterbatasan infrastruktur, serta isu etika dan privasi data. Meskipun demikian, dengan pendekatan yang tepat dan strategi yang komprehensif, AI memiliki potensi besar untuk merevolusi pendidikan dan meningkatkan profesionalisme guru di masa depan. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan wawasan bagi pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan dalam mengintegrasikan AI secara efektif dalam proses pembelajaran.
