Abstract

Penyakit infeksi tergolong jenis penyakit yang penyebabnya karena infeksi dari mikroorganisme seperti bakteri. Bakteri yang sering menyebabkan infeksi antara lain Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli. Tanaman yang dapat dijadikan alternatif adalah tanaman puring anting (Codiaeum variegatum var. Pictum.F. Appendiculatum) yang merupakan tanaman perdu dengan bentuk daun memanjang dan kecil yang terhubung dengan tulang daun. Penelitian ini bertujuan guna mengetahui aktivitas anti bakteri fraksi aktif dan ekstrak daun puring anting terhadap E.coli dan S. aureus menggunakan uji difusi cakram, serta kandungan metabolit sekunder pada fraksi aktif daun puring anting. Dalam penelitian ini, dipilih pelarut etanol 96% untuk mengekstraksi daun puring anting dan difraksi pelarut yang digunakan n-heksana, kloroform, dan metanol 80%. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa fraksi aktif daun puring anting yang terdapat pada fraksi metanol 80%, dan hasil uji antibakteri dengan metode uji difusi cakram menunjukkan penghambatan E.coli dan S.aureus masing-masing adalah 5,4000 ± 2,0553 mm (1000 µg/ml) dan 5,2250 ± 3,2043 mm (30,125 µg/ml). Dalam fraksi metanol 80% tereteksi metabolit sekunder seperti saponin, steroid, dan alkaloid.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan kebun kopi pada saat ini berkembang sangat pesat dan salah satunya di Desa Kucur, Kabupaten Malang, Jawa Timur. Terdapat kelompok tani dengan nama Republik Tani Mandiri (RTM) yang dibentuk untuk memproduksi kopi. Namun, proses pembuatan kopi masih tradisional dan omset penjualan belum maksimal, sehingga diperlukan inovasi dan penambahan alat produksi untuk meningkatkan harga jual dan kapasitas produksi kopi. Salah satu inovasinya adalah pembuatan kopi fermentasi. Kelompok pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Ma Chung telah melakukan penelitian dan menemukan kondisi yang optimum untuk proses fermentasi kopi. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih para petani kopi dalam membuat dan mengembangkan kopi fermentasi, serta penyerahan mesin dan alat yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan produksi kopi fermentasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini berupa peningkatan pemahaman pembuatan kopi fermentasi dan peningkatan produksi kopi fermentasi. Peserta berharap kegiatan pendampingan fermentasi kopi terus berlanjut.

Abstract

Bajakah kalalawit (BK) secara empiris digunakan sebagai obat tradisional untuk meningkatkan daya tahan seksual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pemberian ekstrak dari batang BK terhadap aktivitas seksual tikus putih (Rattus norvegicus) jantan dengan parameter pendekatan, menunggang, dan kawin. Desain penelitian yaitu rancangan acak lengkap dengan 5 perlakuan dan induksi selama 3 hari. Batang BK dimaserasi dengan etanol 96%. Kontrol negatif diinduksi dengan CMC-Na 0,5% dan kontrol positif diinduksi dengan sildenafil sitrat pada dosis 10 mg/KgBB. P1, P2, dan P3 masing-masing diinduksi ekstrak batang BK pada dosis 150 mg/KgBB, 200 mg/KgBB, dan 250 mg/KgBB/hari. Aktivitas pendekatan, menunggang, dan kawin pada hewan uji yang telah diinduksi diamati menggunakan libidometer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian ekstrak batang BK dapat meningkatkan aktivitas seksual tikus putih jantan pada dosis 150 mg/KgBB/hari jika dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol dan kelompok perlakuan yang lain. Kata Kunci: Uncaria gambir Roxb, Tikus Jantan, Afrodisiaka, Libidometer Bajakah kalalawit (BK) is empirically used as a traditional medicine to increase sexual endurance. This study aimed to analyze the effect of administration of BK stem extract on the sexual activity of white male rats (Rattus norvegicus) with the parameters of introduction, climbing, and coitus. The research design was a Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and three days of induction. BK stems were macerated with 96% ethanol. Negative control was induced with 0.5% CMC-Na and positive control was induced with sildenafil citrate at 10 mg/kg BW. P1, P2, and P3 were induced by BK stem extract at dose of 150 mg/kg BW/day, 200 mg/kg BW/day, and 250 mg/kg BW/day, respectively. Introduction, climbing and coitus activities in the induced test of male rats were observed using libidometer. The results showed that the induction of BK stem extract could increase the sexual activity of male rats at dose of 150 mg/kg BW/day compared to the control group and other treatment groups.

Abstract

Latar belakang: Penyakit diabetes di Indonesia menduduki peringkat ketiga penyakit kronis terbanyak dengan prevalensi 5,6%. Terapi penyakit diabetes memerlukan waktu yang panjang dan memiliki resiko efek samping yang tinggi. Tanaman bihanong secara empiris digunakan untuk menurunkan kadar gula darah. Daun binahong memiliki metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, saponin, dan tanin yang secara ilmiah dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah. Tujuan: Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh induksi ekstrak etanol daun binahong terhadap penurunan gula darah tikus putih galur Wistar. Metode: Desain penelitian adalah post test control group desaign yang menggunakan 25 ekor tikus dan dibagi menjadi 5 kelompok. Dilakukan induksi streptozotocin (STZ) secara intraperitoneal dengan dosis 150 mg/KgBB untuk meningkatkan kadar glukosa pada hewan uji. Kontrol negatif diberikan 0,5% Na-CMC, kontrol positif diberikan glibenklamid, kelompok perlakuan I diberi ekstrak dengan dosis 80 mg/KgBB, kelompok perlakuan II dengan dosis 100 mg/KgBB, dan kelompok perlakuan III dengan dosis 120 mg/KgBB. Pengukuran kadar glukosa darah dilakukan setelah penginduksian STZ dan pemeriksaan dilakukan setiap harinya. Kadar glukosa dalam darah dianalisis menggunakan uji statistik one way ANOVA dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Post Hoc LSD. Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan bahwa setiap kelompok memiliki perbedaan yang signifikan pada efek terapi  (p ≤ 0,05).  Simpulan: Konsentrasi yang direkomendasikan untuk memberikan efek penurunan kadar gula darah yaitu pada dosis 80 mg/KgBB.

Abstract

Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan fraksi air ekstrak metanolik kulit batang faloakdilakukan secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif menggunakan senyawa radikal 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH). Prinsip metode DPPH adalah penurunan intensitas absorbansi larutanDPPH yang berbanding lurus dengan kenaikan konsentrasi senyawa antioksidan yangdinyatakan dengan Inhibition Concentration 50 (IC50). Penentuan kandungan fenolik totaldilakukan dengan pereaksi Folin-Ciocalteu dengan menggunakan standar baku asam galat.Prinsip metode Folin-Ciocalteu adalah senyawa fenolik teroksidasi oleh reagen Folin-Ciocalteusehingga larutan uji berwarna biru yang dapat diukur dengan spektrofotometer visibel padapanjang gelombang 750 nm. Kandungan fenolik total dinyatakan dengan massa ekivalen asamgalat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa fraksi air ekstrak metanolik kulit batang faloaksecara kualitiatif mempunyai senyawa antioksidan dan secara kuantitatif mempunyai nilai IC50sebesar 45,628 ± 1,474 μg/mL yang tergolong dalam antioksidan sangat kuat. Fraksi air ekstrakmetanolik kulit batang faloak memiliki kandungan fenolik total sebesar 6,971 ± 0,167 mgekivalen asam galat per gram fraksi air ekstrak metanol kulit batang faloak.

Abstract

Faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br) was used empirically as a traditional medicinal plant. The information of the active compounds contained in the faloak bark was not specifically published. This study aims to determine the active compounds contained in the fraction of ethyl acetate of faloak bark which has cytotoxic effect on breast cancer cell type T47D. Extraction method use maceration, isolation compound using gradient isolation method, structural elucidation using information from IR, H-NMR, C-NMR and LC-MS. Cytotoxic activity test on breast cancer cell line T47D using MTT method. The result show the isolate compound was 2-iminoethyl 2- (1-hydroxypentan-2-yl) phenyl) acetate with IC50 value on T47D breast cancer cell 7, 12 μg/mL and with selectivity index value was 47, 53.Keywords: Sterculia quadrifida R.Br, 2-iminoethyl 2-(2-(1-hydroxypentan-2-yl) phenyl) acetate, T47D.

Abstract

Zingiber purpureum Roxb. was a plant that has the potential to be developed as a chemotherapy agent. Bioassay guided fractination aims to examine the anticancer activity of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol fractions from ethanolic extract of bangle plant rhizome to colon cancer cell type WiDr and Vero cells. The apoptotic test and modulating cell cycle were observed by flow cytometry method. Isolation process of the most active fraction. The pure isolates obtained were identified by structures with structural elucidation using ultraviolet, 1D-NMR, 2D-NMR and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer. Obtained 2,3-dihydro-5-hydroxy-7-methoxy-2-phenylchromen-4-one compound of ethyl acetate fraction number 21. With a value of CC50 to a WiDr cell of 11.24 ± 3.44 μg/mL and 342.22 ± 4.98 μg/mL to Vero cells.

Abstract

Objective: Indonesia is known with its natural resources, one of them is abundant herbs. The herbs are basic ingredients of herbal medicine which is called jamu. Jamu started to develop since hundred years ago and passed through generation which is trusted to cure many diseases without giving any side effect. Lately, there are many cases of combining jamu with some chemical substances. The most common chemical substances used in jamu are acetaminophen and phenylbutazone. Methods: This research develops method to detect acetaminophen and phenylbutazone by using spektrofotometric UV-Vis which is combined with chemometrics. The most common chemometrics multivariate calibration used is Partial Least Square (PLS) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). From this method, the data analysis used is R Studio software. This research generates a regression equation. Results: Based on this research, the regression equation indicates that the result is significance which can be seen from the value of P < 0.05. Besides that, the value of correlation coefficient of acetaminophen as 0.9889, and phenylbutazone as 0,9728. Conclusion:  This method can be considered as qualified and meet the requirement.

Abstract

Faloak bark extract has antibacterial, antioxidant and anticancer potential but no optimal solvent has found to extract the active compounds of faloak bark. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the solvent against the faloak bark. This study aims to determine the optimum solvent of methanol, ethyl acetate, petroleum ether, and water in order to produce an optimal response value in the extract, total phenolic, and inhibitory results in antifungal tests. Extracts obtained through reflux extraction for 2 hours and extract yield calculated. The extract results tested to determine the total phenolic content and inhibition of antifungal test. The determination of the optimum solvent composition carried out using Rstudio v.3.2.2 software with ANOVA parametric test or Kruskal-Wallis non-parametric test and using Design Expert v.11 software with Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method. The results showed that the solvent composition of faloak bark extract (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br) in giving the yield of extract, total phenolic, and optimal antifungal inhibition was methanol:water 0,438:0,562.

Abstract

The purpose of the current study is to review ethno-medicinal plant used by natives in West Kalimantan Province in last five years. The methods used is gathering earlier publications in journals completed with pharmacological evidence of local medicinal plants. The present review result reported that 346 specieses belonging to 95 families have been utilized in West Kalimantan Province. Zingiberceae has the top number of plant of families (25) followed by Rubiaceae (17), Fabaceae (16), Asteraceae (14), Euphorbiaceae (13), Poaceae (13), Verbenaceae (13), Liliaceae (10), other families (<10).  The tabulated plant species in this study are frequently used as herbal medicine for the treatment of miscellaneous deseases and the medication safety of local people. Parts of plant used as herbal medicine are leaves (46.1%) followed roots (15.7%), fruits (9.5%), rhizomes (6.7%), all parts (5.9%), stems (5.4%), seeds (2.3%), saps (1.3%), pericarps (1.0%), flowers (0.8%), shoots (0.8%), stalks (0.8%), tubers (0.8%), and twigs (0.3%). The majorities of used methods for traditional medicine are decoction and infusion. The information of this current review includes local names, species, families, used parts, and medical uses. All the medicinal plants reported in this study have been used by West Kalimantan people for the treatment of various deseases
