Abstract

This study aims at determining the effectiveness of powerpoint games in developing initial mathematical abilities. The approach used was quantitative with a quasi experimental method type pretest-posttest group design. The population of this study was all of the group B early young learners in Koto Tangah Subdistrict, Padang City 2018/2019 academic year. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a total sample of 30 children. The data were collected by using an initial mathematical ability test adopted from REMA the Research Based Early Mathematics Assessment. Data analysis technique was an independent t-test, seeing a comparison of differences in average scores. The result shows that powerpoint games were effective in developing early mathematical abilities in the experimental group compared to the control group. The use of powerpoint games can be an alternative learning media in developing other aspects of development.

Abstract

This study aims at finding out the effectiveness of traditional Lore games on the ability to recognize the concept of numbers in kindergarten. This research used a quantitative approach implemented in the form of the quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest design. The population of this study is all early childhood students of group B in South Pariaman District, Pariaman City. Sample withdrawal technique using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques use a test of the ability to recognize the concept of numbers that self-designed, refer to aspects and indicators.  Hypothetical testing using data analysis techniques is a paired t-test by looking at each difference from the average score comparison. The result shows that traditional Lore games are effective in developing the ability to recognize the concept of numbers in early childhood. Therefore, the use of traditional games can be a strategy for teachers to teach math, particularly about the concept of numbers.

Abstract

Character education in early childhood is crucial for shaping behavior and morals, especially by integrating local cultural values. This study develops interactive Google Sites media to teach Sumbang Duo Baleh character values to children aged 5-6, using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model. Validated by education and technology experts, the media achieved a "Highly Valid" rating with a 95.31% content feasibility score and 87.96 for media presentation in functionality, usability, efficiency, and portability. It was also rated highly practical, scoring 85.7 for ease of use by teachers in daily activities. Integrating Sumbang Duo Baleh values into interactive media offers an effective strategy for enhancing character education and fostering culturally relevant learning in Indonesian early childhood education.

Abstract

English vocabulary acquisition forms the foundation for language development in early childhood. While Information Technology (IT) platforms like YouTube offer multimedia resources for language learning, research examining teacher perspectives on YouTube's role in vocabulary development remains limited. This phenomenological study explores how early childhood educators perceive and integrate YouTube for English vocabulary instruction. Twenty teachers from 18 institutions across three Indonesian provinces participated through interviews and documentation analysis. Data analysis employed open coding and axial coding to identify patterns and themes. Findings reveal two main themes: teachers recognize YouTube's effectiveness for vocabulary recognition and contextual usage, yet emphasize the need for structured implementation. Teachers perceive YouTube as effective when combined with three strategies: selecting age-appropriate content, providing active guidance during viewing, and implementing reinforcement activities such as storytelling and interactive games. This study contributes phenomenological insights into teacher experiences with IT-mediated language instruction and offers practical frameworks for integrating digital platforms into early childhood vocabulary development.
