Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop valid, practical, and effective statistics learning worksheets based on realistic mathematics for eighth grader of junior high school. This development research uses a 4D development model with stages: definition, design, development, and deployment. The subjects of this research trial were the students of class VIII SMP Negeri 7 Bengkulu City, as many as 27 people. The research instrument consisted of product validity sheets, practicality sheets, and student learning outcomes tests. The data analysis consisted of validity analysis using Aiken's V index, rater agreement test, and N-gain test. This study resulted in realistic mathematics education-based student worksheet for statistical material for class VIII SMPN that met the following criteria: (1) Valid with an average Aiken's V index score of 0.86 in the high category and the results of the agreement test between raters with an intraclass correlation coefficient score of 0.99 categories. Very good. (2) Very practical in terms of the average practicality score of students of 81.51%. (3) Effective from the N-gain score of 0.72 high categories with classical completeness reaching 81.48%.  Keywords: students worksheet, development research, realistic mathematics education DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1395-1408

Abstract

This study aims to describe the problems of the PISA model in mathematics textbooks which are in terms of the aspects contained in the components of the PISA model. The research subjects were competency test questions in the 2017 revised edition of the 2017 curriculum 2013 math textbooks, totaling 180. This study used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research instrument was an analysis guide sheet based on the aspects of content, context, and cognitive level of the PISA model questions. Data analysis uses the stages of unit purchasing analysis, categorizing, and coding. The results showed that there were 17.22% of the PISA model questions. The questions are distributed based on each content consisting of number, space & shape, change & relationship, and impossibility & data. In the context aspect, the questions only fulfill three contexts, personal work, and social judging from the level of cognitive questions that are applied at the level of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, and assessing levels. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of attitudes and habits of learning mathematics through online learning on students' cognitive learning outcomes. This type of research is correlation research using ex post facto design. The research population was all class X IPA students at senior high school 7 Bengkulu City for the 2020/2021 academic year with 320 students. The research sample of 107 students from three classes was selected by a simple random sampling technique where the distribution of students' abilities in each category was not different. The study results show that attitudes toward learning mathematics in online learning have a direct positive effect on students' cognitive learning outcomes. The habit of learning mathematics in online learning has a direct and positive effect on students' cognitive learning outcomes. Suggestions from this study in improving student learning outcomes teachers need to develop student attitudes and learning habitsKeywords: mathematics attitudes, study habits, learning outcomes, online learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v24i1.pp203-212

Abstract

The achievement of high school graduates' competence is continuously improved by the government in Indonesia, one of which is by implementing the Minimum Competence Assessment. The main problem in its application is the limitations of similar problem models provided in classroom learning so that students are not accustomed to solving them. The purpose of this research is to produce mathematical reasoning questions using the Minimum Competence Assessment model for junior high school students that are valid, reliable, and have a potential impact. This research is development research with two stages of developing Tessmer’s model, namely: (1) Preliminary and (2) formative evaluation stage, which consists of self-evaluation, prototyping (expert reviews and small group), and field tests. The trial subjects of this study were 25 students of class VIII Bengkulu state junior high school 7 in Bengkulu City. The results of the study obtained questions that met valid criteria with an Aiken index each of which was more than 0.5. The questions meet reliable criteria with a count of more than 0.6 and are in the high category. The questions have a potential impact with sufficient students' selection abilities on average and students giving a good response of more than 50.00%. The suggestion from the research is that the teacher encourages choosing a real context to present the problem in mathematics learning. Keywords: development research, instrument test, mathematical reasoning, minimum competence assessment.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i4.pp1515-1526

Abstract

This study seeks to delineate the numeracy competencies of students in the geometry domain, framed by the cultural context of Bengkulu. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the research involved 35 students from Grade  XI. A of State High School 1 Bengkulu Tengah. The methodology included the use of open-ended numeracy tests specifically designed for geometry. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics to delineate the spectrum of numeracy competency levels among the students. The findings showed that 4 students (13.33%) were at a low level of numeracy, 24 students (80.00%) at a medium level, and 2 students (6.67%) at a high level. Further analysis of students' numeracy skills across different geometric levels highlighted average proficiency scores of 81.66% in visualization, 66.67% in analysis, and a notably lower 40.00% in deduction. These results underscore the influence of culturally relevant numeracy problems on student performance. Consequently, these insights have significant implications for educational practices, particularly in the curation of instructional materials aimed at enhancing students' numeracy competencies.       Keywords: descriptive analysis, geometry domain, numeracy competency, cultural context of Bengkulu. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i3.pp1518-1531

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the discovery learning model on student learning outcomes in social arithmetic material. This research is a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design. The population of this study was seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Bengkulu City. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling technique, namely class VIID as the experimental class with 20 students and class VIIC as the control class with as many as 23 people. Data was collected by using a social arithmetic material test. The data were analyzed descriptively and statistically by using an independent t-test. The results showed an effect of the discovery learning model on improving student learning outcomes in social arithmetic material. Statistically descriptive, the average student learning outcomes using the discovery learning model are higher than in conventional learning classes. Keywords: discovery learning, quasi experiment, learning outcomes.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v23i3.pp1006-1016
