Abstract

General Background Numeracy is a fundamental competence in elementary education because it enables students to interpret numbers, reason logically, and solve contextual mathematical problems. Specific Background Word problems require students not only to calculate but also to understand contexts, identify relevant information, select appropriate operations, and organize solution steps systematically. Knowledge Gap Previous studies have largely emphasized learning outcomes or instructional models, while limited attention has been given to how students’ numeracy profiles, thinking processes, and difficulties differ according to their initial mathematical ability. Aims This study analyzes elementary students’ numeracy ability in solving word problems based on initial mathematical ability and identifies the characteristics and difficulties found in high, moderate, and low ability categories. Results Students with high initial mathematical ability demonstrated integrated skills in reading problems, organizing information, selecting strategies, and presenting systematic solutions. Students with moderate ability showed adequate but inconsistent numeracy performance, particularly in processing complex information and presenting accurate answers. Students with low ability experienced fundamental difficulties in understanding problem contexts, choosing operations, and avoiding number grabbing strategies. Novelty This study provides a differentiated analysis of numeracy by examining final answers, solution processes, error patterns, and ability characteristics across initial mathematical ability levels. Implications Numeracy instruction should integrate reading literacy with basic mathematical concepts and apply differentiated contextual learning according to students’ initial ability profiles. Highlights • High-performing students showed systematic reasoning in interpreting word problems.• Moderate-performing students completed tasks adequately but lacked consistency.• Low-performing students struggled with context, operations, and structured reasoning. Abstract

The problem in this study is that student learning outcomes in Mathematics for Class III SD Negeri 111/II Bukit Telago Pelepat are still relatively low, the interaction between educators and students has not been seen, and the learning process is teacher-centered or educator-centered. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of the Team Assisted Individualisation model in class III SD Negeri 111/II Bukit Telago Pelepat on learning processes and outcomes This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subjects of this study were Class III students of SD Negeri 111/II Bukit Telago Pelepat with a total of 15 students, this study consisted of 2 cycles, and each cycle was carried out through 4 stages, namely planning, observation, and reflection. And each cycle did two meetings. The results showed that using the Team Assisted Individualization model could improve third-grade mathematics' process and learning outcome at SD Negeri 111/II Bukit Telago Pelepat. This can be seen from the test results in the first cycle, only 7 or 46.66% of students who scored in the maximum completeness criteria were 62 and 8 or 53.33% had not reached the maximum completeness criteria. Student learning outcomes increased very well in cycle II. From 26.66% (initial observation), to 46.66% (cycle I) and 86.66% (cycle II) and the learning process of students in the first cycle of the first meeting was 68.33% and at the second meeting increased to 75, 00%, while in the second cycle of the first meeting 79.17% and at the second meeting it increased to 90.00% this has exceeded the predetermined category.

Abstract

This research is based on a lack of understanding by educators regarding the independent curriculum in science and science learning, a lack of integration in science and science learning, and a lack of training among fellow educators regarding the independent curriculum in science and science learning. This research aims to interpret the planning, implementation and assessment of science and science learning at SDN 101/II Muara Bungo. This research uses a qualitative and phenomenological approach; the research was carried out at SDN 101/II Muara Bungo. Participants in qualitative research with a phenomenological approach are Class IV and Class V teachers. The procedure for selecting participants in this research uses purposive sampling, interviews, observation, and documentation to carry out data collection techniques, and activities in data analysis are carried out by data collection, data reduction, data presentation. and conclusion. Data analysis was strengthened using the IT atlas application and triangulation as data validity. The results of this research show that: 1) science AS learning planning is designed by analysing the independent criteria platform, which contains learning outcomes, learning objectives, flow of learning objectives and open modules; 2) educators collaborate with colleagues to design science AS learning, 3) implementation Independent curriculum science and science learning is suitable for using the Think pair score (TPS) strategy and the Discovery Learning model, 4) assessment of science and science learning using diagnostic assessments (physical and psychological assessments), formative (games, quizzes, appreciation), summative (daily tests, UTS, UAS ).

Abstract

The problem in this study stems from the number of students who are still passive in teaching and learning activities in the classroom, the absence of creative, innovative, interesting and fun learning models. This study aims to describe the improvement of the process and student learning outcomes. This research is a class action research. The research subjects were fifth grade students of SD Negeri 202/II Simpang Tebat. In its implementation, this research consisted of two cycles conducted by the researcher. Each cycle consists of planning activities, action implementation, observation and reflection. The results of this study indicate that the use of the Predict, Observe, Explain learning model can improve the process and learning outcomes of students. This can be seen from the performance process of educators in cycle I with an average percentage of (60%) in the sufficient category and cycle II with an average percentage of (83%) in the very good category. The learning process of students in cycle I with an average percentage of (27%) in the failure category and in cycle II with an average percentage of (100%) in the excellent category. For the Minimum Completion Criteria standard of 70, this can be seen from the completeness of the learning outcomes of students in cycle I with a percentage of (70.67%) with a good category and cycle II with a percentage of (85.33%) with a very good category that reaches KKM.
