Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the literacy and numeracy scores of students at SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Lubuk Besar through an analysis of their report cards in 2024 and 2025. This research was conducted using a qualitative-descriptive method by reviewing educational report cards. The results of the study show that literacy scores increased from 76.74% in 2024 to 91.11% in 2025, while numeracy scores increased from 58.14% to 86.84%. The increase in the education report card scores is related to improvement efforts involving the entire school community. Several improvement measures that were taken included teacher training, the implementation of deep learning, and the strengthening of literacy and numeracy activities. Several challenges that still need to be addressed include the implementation of innovative literacy and numeracy activities, the lack of interest in reading among students, and the low level of prior knowledge among students. Recommendations from this study include improving the quality of learning, particularly in literacy and numeracy activities at school. The results of this evaluation are expected to help improve the quality of learning in order to improve students' literacy and numeracy skills.

Abstract

Peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru menjadi kebutuhan penting di abad ke-21. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah melalui edukasi penggunaan model pembelajaran inovatif yang berpusat pada peserta didik. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi mengenai penggunaan model pembelajaran inovatif dalam rangka meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik guru SMA Negeri 9 OKU Selatan. Fokus kegiatan diarahkan pada penguatan pemahaman konseptual guru tentang karakteristik, sintaks, dan keterkaitan model pembelajaran dengan pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis, komunikasi, kolaborasi, dan kreativitas peserta didik. Kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan edukatif dan partisipatif melalui penyampaian materi, diskusi interaktif, dan refleksi bersama guru. Materi yang disampaikan mencakup konsep dasar pembelajaran inovatif, ragam model pembelajaran yang relevan, serta tantangan implementasinya dalam konteks pembelajaran di kelas. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa guru menunjukkan antusiasme yang tinggi dan memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih baik mengenai pentingnya penggunaan model pembelajaran inovatif sebagai bagian dari penguatan kompetensi pedagogik. Diskusi yang berlangsung juga mengungkap berbagai kendala yang dihadapi guru, seperti keterbatasan waktu, karakteristik peserta didik yang heterogen, dan pengelolaan kelas aktif. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan pengabdian ini berperan sebagai tahap awal dalam proses peningkatan kompetensi pedagogik guru dan diharapkan menjadi dasar bagi pengabdian lanjutan yang lebih aplikatif dalam perancangan dan implementasi pembelajaran inovatif di kelas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze teachers’ needs in developing project-based learning (PjBL) modules to address students’ learning requirements on the topic of viruses. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Selatan, SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya, SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara, and SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Raja. Data were collected through documentation and interviews, and analyzed using a descriptive qualitative approach. The findings reveal that the application of PjBL in teaching virus-related material remains suboptimal. Teachers face several challenges, including: (1) difficulties in understanding and designing teaching modules; (2) uncertainty in selecting appropriate learning models; and (3) continued reliance on manually created, non-digital modules. From the students’ perspective, challenges include: (1) being required to study independently with minimal support; (2) limited engagement in practical or hands-on activities; and (3) low motivation due to the predominance of lecture-based instruction. In light of these findings, the study suggests the development of electronic project-based teaching modules using the Kodular application as a solution to enhance students’ critical thinking skills and provide more meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are important for students to have when facing the challenges of the 21st century. This skill can help students overcome problems in the real world, one of which is the problem of environmental change. This research is qualitative with a descriptive approach, to evaluate the critical thinking abilities of students in class X SMA Negeri 3 Tanjung Raja on environmental change material. The number of research subjects was thirty. The critical thinking ability test consists of five questions that refer to five indicators: providing simple basic explanations, building basic skills, drawing conclusions, providing further explanations, and organizing strategies and tactics. The results showed that participants had a low level of critical thinking, especially in terms of indicators of concluding.

Abstract

This research aims to create an electronic teaching module for high school phase E students based on project-based learning about viruses. This kind of study uses a 4-D model for research and development. The four phases of the 4-D model are definition, design, development, and dissemination. The 4-D model is modified in this study for the validation stage of development. Eight high school teachers and two biology lecturers made up the research subjects. Using a modular application, an electronic teaching module for viral material based on project-based learning is the research object. A validity questionnaire is used as the data-gathering tool. The average value of the language expert assessment is 89.58% very good credentials, and the average value of the material expert assessment is 88.27% very good qualifications, according to the research findings. The expert evaluation assessment has 80.00% good credentials, the media expert assessment has 86.19% very good qualifications, and the teaching equipment expert assessment has 95.13% very good qualifications. With very good credentials, the entire average validity value is 87.83%. We may infer that an electronic teaching module for high school phase E students based on project-based learning about viruses has been created using very reliable criteria and is appropriate for usage.

Pseudomonas plecoglossicida as a novel bacterium for phosphate solubilizing and indole-3-acetic acid-producing from soybean rhizospheric soils of East Java, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 21: 578-586. The use of synthetic fertilizers to grow soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) in a long time, can increase the risk of environmental damage. Therefore, the current study aimed to find phosphate solubilizing bacteria that can produce indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) hormone to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers. Superior isolates selected through characterization of phosphate solubilization activity on Pikovskaya medium, screening of IAA producing bacteria, quantitative estimation of phosphate solubilizing activity using a spectrophotometer, hypersensitivity assay, antagonist within isolate assay, and molecular identification of selected bacterial isolates using 16S rRNA sequencing with primer forward 63f and primer reverse 1387r. Among the isolated bacteria, isolate Arj8 showed the highest phosphate solubilizing activity and IAA production. Molecular identification indicated that isolate Arj8 shared 100% similarity with Pseudomonas plecoglossicida. The highest phosphate solubilizing activity (75.39 mg/L) and IAA production (38.89 ppm) recorded on day-3. Multiple potentialities of P. plecoglossicida as phosphate solubilizing and IAA producing bacterium are a novel finding in the development of bioinoculants as bio-fertilizers that can reduce dependency on synthetic chemical fertilizers.

Biodiversitas 21: 2377-2382. Pakoba (Syzygium luzonense (Merr.) Merr) as an endemic and ethnomedical plant of North Sulawesi was investigated for its phytochemical constituents and biological activities. The presence of phytochemicals constituents, antibacterial, antioxidant activities, and antihyperglycemic of pakoba stem bark ethanolic extract (PSBEE) were also investigated. Pakoba stem bark was extracted using ethanol. The extracts were evaluated for antimicrobial activity using the Kirby Bauer method, whereas antioxidant activity was determined by using 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging assay. Alloxan-induced diabetic rats investigation was used to determine the antihyperglycemic activity. The phytochemical analysis revealed that tannins, alkaloids, and flavonoids were present in PSBEE. PSBEE has potent antioxidant activity with antioxidant activity index = 1.02. PSBEE significantly reduced the blood sugar of hyperglycemic rats with an optimum dose of 300 mg/kgbw. In this study, PSBEE has weak antibacterial activity against in Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji kebutuhan bahan ajar IPA berbasis kearifan lokal sebagai upaya hasil belajar serta menumbuhkan sikap peduli lingkungan siswa SMP. Hasil angket menunjukkan bahwa guru masih menggunakan buku cetak sebagai bahan ajar utama dalam proses pembelajaran di dalam kelas , sementara pemanfaatan modul, LKPD, dan media lain masih rendah. Metode penelitian merupakan tahap awal dari model pengembangan 4D yaitu tahap analisis kebutuhan. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket dan wawancara. Responden penelitian terdiri atas 3 guru IPA SMP dan 2 kelas siswa kelas VII SMP yang masing-masing berjumlah 24 siswa, sehingga total siswa yang terlibat adalah 48 orang. Hasil angket guru juga memperlihatkan bahwa 100% peserta didik memiliki hasil belajar sangat kurang, serta 66% siswa menunjukkan masih rendahnya sikap peduli terhadap lingkungan. Integrasi kearifan lokal belum ada dalam pembelajaran IPA, hasil wawancara kearifan lokal lelang lebak lebung memiliki peluang untuk diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran. Sehingga, penelitian ini sebagai langkah awal untuk pengembangan bahan ajar terintegrasi kearifan lokal lelang lebak lebung pada pembelajaran IPA untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar dan sikap peduli lingkungan.

Abstract

Pendidikan lingkungan di sekolah cenderung masih teoretis dan minim visualisasi, sehingga berdampak pada rendahnya literasi lingkungan serta lemahnya retensi murid. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kebutuhan media pembelajaran berbasis sanitasi Open Defecation Free (ODF). Subjek penelitian melibatkan 10 guru IPA dan 136 murid di SMPN 1 dan SMPN 2 Banyuasin I. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa kuesioner kebutuhan teruji, wawancara, dan analisis dokumen. Hasil analisis data mengungkap kendala nyata di lapangan sebesar 90% guru belum mengaitkan materi dengan isu lokal, 89% masih bergantung pada media cetak konvensional, dan 94% menghendaki model PBL. Sementara itu, 70% murid dinilai kurang kesadaran lingkungan dan 68% mengalami masalah retensi ingatan. Dari aspek preferensi, 65% murid menyukai media digital, dengan 85% di antaranya menginginkan inovasi berbentuk E-Poster Interaktif, serta 73% berminat tinggi pada model PBL. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan media pembelajaran yang dibutuhkan berupa E-Poster Interaktif berbasis PBL terintegrasi isu sanitasi ODF sangat urgen dan dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan literasi lingkungan sekaligus mengunci retensi murid sekolah menengah.
