Abstract

Kopi merupakan komoditas unggulan di Indonesia dengan tren peningkatan luas areal perkebunan dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Peningkatan ini diikuti oleh kebutuhan bibit kopi bermutu yang semakin besar. Selain itu, limbah kulit kopi dari sentra pengolahan kopi berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai pupuk kompos dan pupuk cair. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui dampak pemberian kompos limbah kulit kopi dan pupuk cair kulit kopi terhadap pertumbuhan pembibitan kopi Robusta. Pelaksanaan penelitian di kebun pembibitan Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Politeknik Negeri Jember pada November 2022–Maret 2023. Penelitian menggunakan RAK factorial, terdiri dua faktor yaitu faktor pertama komposisi kompos limbah kulit kopi (M) yaitu 30% (M1), 50% (M2), dan 70% (M3); dan faktor kedua adalah konsentrasi pupuk organik cair kulit kopi (P) yaitu 100 mL/L (P1), 200  mL/L (P2), dan 300  mL/L (3) sehingga terdapat 9 kombinasi perlakuan. Parameter pengamatan meliputi tinggi tanaman, klorofil daun, jumlah daun dan volume akar. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan uji lanjut DMRT 5%. Hasil  penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan tunggal M3 memberikan perlakuan terbaik terhadap tinggi tanaman bulan ke 2; dan perlakuan tunggal M2 dan M1 menghasilkan nilai klorofil daun tertinggi pada bulan yang sama.  Pemberian kompos limbah kulit kopi dan pupuk cair kulit kopi tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata pada variabel pengamatan lainnya.

Abstract

The production of crystal ice cubes poses a high risk of contamination because they are consumed without prior heating; therefore, the quality of the water used as the primary raw material is a crucial factor in ensuring product safety. At the micro enterprise level, water quality control is often not carried out systematically, even when filtration systems are in use. This situation was also observed at UD Frozen Ice, Jember, where water quality management remains reactive and lacks structured procedures or monitoring systems. This community service activity aims to enhance the partner’s capacity in water quality control through a simple and practical approach to strengthening operational systems. Implementation methods include identifying initial conditions, determining critical control points for water quality, designing a control system, providing implementation support, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The developed system includes the creation of a filtration maintenance schedule, tank cleaning procedures, and the implementation of a monitoring logbook. The results of the activity demonstrate improved consistency in water quality management, marked by the implementation of a more regular maintenance schedule, periodic tank sanitation, and the use of a recording system as a monitoring tool. Additionally, the partners demonstrated improved ability to identify potential deviations in water quality. Thus, system-strengthening-based assistance proved effective in enhancing raw material quality control at the micro industry. This approach has the potential to serve as a first step toward implementing a more comprehensive and sustainable food safety system. In practice, the implementation of maintenance schedules and monitoring logbooks provides easy-to-follow operational guidelines for maintaining consistent water quality throughout the production process.

Abstract

Background: Postharvest deterioration of tropical fruits is strongly influenced by respiration activity, which is highly sensitive to storage temperature. However, respiration kinetics data for underutilized fruits, such as namnam (Cynometra cauliflora), remain limited, restricting the development of effective storage strategies. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effects of storage temperature on respiration kinetics and estimate the preliminary shelf life of namnam fruit using kinetic modeling approaches. Method: Namnam fruits were stored at 10°C, 20°C, and 30°C and evaluated using a closed-system CO₂ absorption method with triplicate measurements. Respiration rates were analyzed using linear regression, the Arrhenius model, Q10 temperature coefficients, and a zero-order degradation model for shelf-life estimation. Result: Respiration rates increased with increasing temperature, showing a strong linear relationship (R² = 0.9984). Arrhenius analysis yielded an apparent activation energy of 27.3 kJ mol⁻¹ with a moderate model fit (R² = 0.6682). Q10 values ranged from 1.45 to 1.68, indicating moderate temperature sensitivity. The estimated shelf life decreased from 13.46 days at 10°C to 9.06 days at 20°C and 6.26 days at 30°C. Conclusion: Lower storage temperatures effectively reduced respiratory activity and extended shelf life; however, respiration-based estimates should be validated using direct quality parameters before commercial application.
