Abstract

Learning that focuses on achieving product mastery is not optimal in facilitating students to create quality research ideas. In this research, we implemented MPBR to analyze the quality of science research ideas from students. To collect research ideas from students, the documentation method is used. Documents as qualitative instruments obtained through this method are assessed based on four criteria. They are suitability to the scope of scientific studies, the presence of research problems, the accuracy of the editorial title formulated from the research problem, and the urgency of the study variables. The data obtained was analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The quantitative analysis that we carry out is proportion analysis. The qualitative analysis includes data reduction, visualization, and conclusion. We found that all research ideas are within the scope of scientific studies and are based on research problems. However, only some scientific research ideas have appropriate title formulations, and the variables need to be studied further through the research process. This has implications for the overall quality of research ideas. The quality of research ideas in the outstanding category is 44.06%. The proportion in the good category is 14.68%, and the remainder is in the fair category, with a ratio of 41.26%. The conclusion is that implementing the PBR model effectively trains students to create scientific research ideas based on problems they find in the surrounding environment.

Abstract

The Kerandangan TWA conservation area has high biodiversity, but much of it is unknown, including grasshoppers. This research aims to analyze the diversity of grasshoppers in the area. Grasshopper samples were collected on two transects determined purposively. This collection was carried out over two months, namely October to November 2022. Data on species and numbers were analyzed descriptively. This analysis includes abundance, richness index, diversity index, and species evenness index. Our findings show that there are 8 species of grasshoppers from the families Acrididae, Pyrgomorphidae, Catantopidae, and Tettigoniidae. The most abundant species was Stenocatantops splendens, whose proportion was 66.67%. The species richness, diversity, and evenness indexes were 2.06, 1.27, and 0.61, respectively. This shows that grasshopper biodiversity in Kerandangan TWA is relatively low. However, it must be conserved because of its essential role in maintaining regional ecological processes.

Abstract

Excessive use of chemical insecticides on plants has had a negative impact on the environment and human health. To overcome this, the use of plant-based pesticides is an attractive alternative, but not yet fully optimal in Indonesia. This research aims to study the potential use of neem leaf extract (Azadirachta indica) as a plant insecticide, with a focus on local knowledge of the Samawa tribe on Sumbawa Island. Extraction methods and phytochemical analysis were carried out, as well as insecticidal power tests against several common pest species in the area. The research results show that neem leaf extract has the potential to be an effective natural insecticide in controlling pest populations. Factors such as extract concentration and drying method of neem leaves influence its effectiveness. The use of neem leaf extract at a dose of 80 gr/liter has proven to be more effective than the Dane brand of vegetable pesticide at three times the dose. However, the use of synthetic pesticides at the recommended dosage still shows faster and more effective results in controlling pests. This research contributes to the development of environmentally friendly and effective plant protection materials, and expands understanding of the potential of local natural resources for sustainable agriculture.
