Abstract

The community of RT 01 Jalan Sudirman III, Pintu Batu Sub-district, is a densely populated urban settlement in the center of Bengkulu City that faces environmental problems such as unmanaged household waste, air pollution, limited green open space, and high traffic accident risk at blind-spot corners and intersections. The Thematic Community Service Program (KKN-T) of Universitas Dehasen Bengkulu was implemented to optimize the quality of this settlement environment through a series of interventions, including the installation of neighborhood navigation maps and emergency numbers, convex mirrors and reflective road markings, routine community clean-up activities, educational signage, environmental awareness campaigns, and the distribution of plant seedlings suitable for narrow spaces. The method consisted of situation analysis, problem identification with local partners, participatory program planning, field implementation over one month, and evaluation with follow-up plans involving local actors. The results indicate improved awareness of cleanliness and safety, a reduction of waste accumulation at several points, better traffic safety at blind-spot areas, and the emergence of small-scale greening initiatives that enhance the aesthetics and comfort of the neighborhood. These findings show that KKN-T in RT 01 Jalan Sudirman III contributed to optimizing a dense urban settlement environment through the synergy of simple technical interventions, continuous environmental education, and active community participation

Abstract

Evaluation in early childhood education plays an important role in understanding children's developmental progress comprehensively. One of the approaches that can be applied is authentic assessment, which evaluates children's abilities through real activities carried out during the learning process. Along with the rapid development of information technology, the implementation of authentic assessment has begun to integrate digital technology to support the evaluation process. This study aims to analyze the implementation and benefits of digital-based authentic assessment in evaluating early childhood learning. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a literature study method. Data were obtained from various scientific sources, including academic books, national and international journal articles, and research reports related to authentic assessment and the use of digital technology in early childhood education. Data collection was carried out through documentation and literature review, while data analysis used content analysis techniques to identify concepts, patterns, and relationships among the reviewed literature. The results of the study indicate that digital-based authentic assessment provides several advantages in evaluating early childhood learning. The use of digital media such as photos, videos, audio recordings, and digital portfolios enables teachers to document children's learning activities more systematically and accurately. In addition, digital systems facilitate the storage, organization, and monitoring of children's developmental data continuously. Digital-based assessment also encourages greater parental involvement because parents can access information about children's learning progress more transparently. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, such as teachers' digital competence and the availability of technological infrastructure in early childhood education institutions. Therefore, support in the form of teacher training and adequate technological facilities is needed to optimize the implementation of digital-based authentic assessment.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the traditional bakiak game can improve the social–emotional development of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Sinar Mentari, South Bengkulu Regency. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR), which focuses on classroom situations and is commonly known as classroom action research, using a cyclical procedure. The main subjects of this study were 15 children aged 5–6 years. The study applied the John Elliot model, in which each cycle consists of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in two cycles. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive qualitative and quantitative methods. The results showed that children’s cognitive development through the implementation of the Montessori method in Group B at PAUD Sinar Mentari, South Bengkulu Regency, reached 74.16% (BSH) in Cycle I and increased to 89% (BSB) in Cycle II. The conclusion is that the traditional bakiak game can enhance the social–emotional development of children aged 5–6 years at PAUD Gemilang, Kepahiang Regency. This was evidenced by a significant improvement in Cycle II, with a percentage result of 89% (BSB).

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low early literacy skills of children at PAUD Kasih Ibu, particularly regarding recognizing letter symbols, articulating letter sounds, and matching letters with images. The study aimed to enhance children's early literacy skills through the use of the "Smart Wheel" (*roda pintar*) learning aid. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was employed, conducted over two cycles; each cycle comprised the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects consisted of 12 children. The results indicate that the use of the Smart Wheel effectively improved the children's early literacy skills. In Cycle I, Meeting 1, the achievement rate was 36.45%, falling into the "Beginning to Develop" (MB) category. In Cycle I, Meeting 2, this increased to 48.43% (MB category). Subsequently, in Cycle II, Meeting 1, the rate rose to 63.02%, meeting the "Developing as Expected" (BSH) criterion, and in Cycle II, Meeting 2, it reached 80.72%, achieving the "Developing Very Well" (BSB) category. This improvement demonstrates that the Smart Wheel creates an engaging, enjoyable, and interactive learning atmosphere, thereby fostering greater active participation and enthusiasm among the children. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Smart Wheel is an effective tool for enhancing the early literacy skills of young children at PAUD Kasih Ibu.
