Abstract

The title of this research is An Analysis of Social Conflict in Toer’s “Midah, Simanis Bergigi Emas”. This research attempts to analyze the social conflict in the novel and how the author conveyed the social conflict. This research used a descriptive qualitative method in order to answer the research question and used A. J. Greimas theory namely “Actant Scheme and Functional Structure” to process the data. Greimas’s theory used in this research is aim to know the structure of the story and how the conflict happen, because this theory shows the character and the story have a function that interplay with each other such as subject, object, sender, receiver, opponent, and helper. And the result from this research, the researcher found the conflict occurred in the story by the characters connected to the theory used. The researcher choose the book because the story contained in the work mostly talk about social life. Through this research, it can concluded that through literature, the author conveyed their opinion and message about social life and social conflict. In this research, the researcher found that the author conveyed the social conflict based on its acts of characters, sequences of events, and conversations between the characters.

Abstract

Hotel is one of the places that people choose to spend their time while on vacation or in the context of business. Each hotel certainly has its own way of attracting people to come to their hotel to stay and come back later. Galeri Ciumbuleuit Hotel is one of the hotels that has a unique way of conveying information, especially regarding hotel promos to guests. They use online media (Whatsapp Broadcast) to provide information about hotel promos. Of course they have their own way of sending broadcast messages. They definitely choose a certain style of language to attract customers. As will be discussed in this study, "The Use of English on Online Media (Whatsapp Broadcast) in Front Office Department at Galeri Ciumbuleuit Hotel". This study uses a qualitative approach as the research method which will be explained descriptively. After doing some research and discussion, the results of this study indicate that Hotel Galeri Ciumbuleuit uses two language styles, namely formal and casual style in conveying hotel promos. The final result of this study also shows that the style of language they use tends to be casual style, the choice of words is simple but sufficient to convey the essence of the promos they provide. This explains that they want to make guests feel comfortable when reading the broadcast messages from the hotel. Thus the choice of language style they use in hotel promos is very simple but quite interesting

Abstract

One of the sign languages used in Indonesia is BISINDO (Indonesian Sign Language) created by the deaf. BISINDO is like the mother tongue for the deaf in Indonesia, although it is not as popular as SIBI (Indonesian Sign System). Therefore, the researchers propose to develop an Android-based prototype to promote BISINDO to others and help the deaf in daily communication. This prototype was built using coding in React Native framework and code editor of Visual Studio Code, then it was compiled to an Android Smartphone. The features include BISINDO's basic dictionary, translation from hand gesture to text, voice to sign language, text to sign language, and voice to text. This prototype is expected to introduce basic BISINDO vocabulary and practice using BISINDO. This prototype ia expected to be developed further into a more useful application, especially to assist communication between deaf people and the general public, but not as a substitution of BISINDO teachers.

Abstract

Kelompok Bermain dan Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Permata Hati (KB-TKA) adalah salah satu lembaga pendidikan anak usia dini yang dikelola oleh Yayasan Bakti Muslimah. Sumber daya manusia dan manajemen keuangan yang efektif dan berfungsi saat ini sangat penting untuk mendukung kelancaran fungsi lembaga pendidikan tersebut. Sistem Manajemen sumber daya manusia dan manajemen keuangan yang terdapat di Kelompok Bermain dan Taman Kanak-Kanak Islam Permata Hati (KB-TKA) dapat dikatan masih manual, hal tersebut terjadi karena pencatatan, manajemen sumber daya manusia dan manajemen keuangan masih menggunakan Microsoft Excel dan tulisan yang menyebabkan pendataan data memekan waktu yang lama dan membuat pekerjaan kurang maksimal. Oleh Sebab itu tujuan dilakukkanya penelitian ini adalah pembuatan sebuah system informasi berbabsis web yang dapat membantu dalam kegiatan manajemen Sumber daya manusia dan manajemen Keuangan. Perancangan proses system menggunakan metode waterfall. Metode ini mencakup required analysis, system and software design, implementation and unit testing, integration and system testing, and operation and maintenance. Sistem dibuat dengan menggunakan aplikasi Code Editor, web browser, web server. Sistem informasi ini diuji menggunakan metode Black Box Testing. Sistem ini memungkinkan manajer fasilitas untuk lebih efektif mengelola informasi staf seperti informasi pribadi, kehadiran, dan riwayat kerja. Selain itu, sistem ini juga memudahkan pengelolaan keuangan, termasuk gaji, pengeluaran, dan pembelian barang. Oleh karena itu, disarankan agar lembaga pendidikan lain juga mempertimbangkan untuk menggunakan sistem informasi serupa untuk meningkatkan kualitas manajemen.

Abstract

Penerapan kecerdasan buatan (artificial intelligence, AI) dalam pendidikan telah membawa perubahan signifikan dalam metode pembelajaran dan manajemen kelas. Paper ini membahas pelatihan Penerapan AI untuk Pembelajaran yang diselenggarakan untuk dosen Universitas Muhammadiyah Madiun (UMMAD) dengan tujuan meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam penerapan teknologi AI. Metode pelatihan mencakup kombinasi sesi teoretis dan praktis. Sesi teori berjalan dalam beberapa tahap yaitu diskusi pengenalan AI, demonstrasi tools dan teknologi AI seperti ChatGPT, Copilot, dan Gemini. Praktik penggunaan AI dalam pembuatan materi pembelajaran, asesmen hasil pembelajaran, dan penulisan artikel ilmiah. Pelatihan yang diikuti oleh 24 dosen ini memberikan pengalaman langsung dalam penerapan AI di dunia pendidikan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta, dengan 91,67% peserta merasa puas dan berharap adanya pelatihan serupa secara rutin. Evaluasi pelatihan mencakup analisis umpan balik peserta yang menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini membantu dalam mempersiapkan pembelajaran, pembuatan modul ajar, dan perangkat pembelajaran lainnya. Evaluasi terhadap hasil pelatihan mengarah kepada kesimpulan bahwa pelatihan ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kompetensi dosen dalam menggunakan AI, mendorong kreativitas dalam pembelajaran, dan diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di UMMAD melalui adopsi teknologi AI.

Abstract

This research purposes to know the results of the Supreme Court's decision on fake news by implementing linguistic forensic and critical discourse analysis based on Fairclough's 1995 grand theory approach. Some categories of analysis include representation, relations, identity, and sociocultural practices. Individual who break the law by spreading fake news may imprisonment. This is in accordance with the rules stated in Article 45A paragraph (2) of law number 19 of 2016, which amends law number 11 of 2008.The research method used is descriptive qualitative by collecting and analyzing data from defendants who are proven to have committed acts of insult and hatred of Ethnic Religion and Intergroup. The results of data analysis are in the form of representation of news information, power relations contained in it, the identity of the defendant formed, and the sociocultural practices that arise. Sociocultural practices that occur in this context, such as discrimination, controversy, and manipulation of information. The results of this study can become a foundation to sensitize the public about the dangers of fake news, encourage changes in creating truth in media practices, and increase defendants' awareness of the importance of justice in the criminal justice system.

Abstract

The Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) movement is an important pillar in the effort to realize a waste-free area. Through a participatory and educative approach, PKK actively involves the community in waste prevention, reduction, and management efforts. This abstract explains the PKK's role in raising environmental awareness, promoting clean living behavior, and empowering families to practice concrete actions in household waste management. In this context, the abstract outlines the approaches adopted by the PKK, including extension campaigns, waste management training, and the establishment of joint working groups. Through the implementation of these programs, PKK seeks to create sustainable behavior change and build a clean, healthy and sustainable area. The evaluation results show that through active community involvement, PKK can successfully achieve the goal of realizing a waste-free area, which in turn will improve welfare and quality of life at the local level.

Abstract

Field Work Practice (PKL) is a manifestation of students in applying the knowledge gained when attending lectures so that it aims to improve students' skills in developing mindsets, expressing ideas, and gaining insights to become a skilled and qualified workforce. Practice carried out the second Field Work Practice at the YAFSI Integrated Public House. The problems faced by the members of the YAFSI Integrated Public House are meeting the needs and overcoming the risks of climate change. For this problem, practitioners participate in ecoprint training which is a form of inclusive climate change literacy and adaptation. The author uses the method presented by Kirst-Ashman (2010) regarding the level of social worker practice at the mezzo level, namely the intervention unit is a group with a group work method. As for the results of this second Employment Practice, it is hoped that the group that is the main target of the ecoprint training program becomes a group that can run independently. Ecoprint is one type of batik whose manufacturing method utilizes natural dyes from tannins or dyes of leaves, roots, or stems that are avoided on a piece of cloth and then the cloth is boiled.

Abstract

In the era of the rise of online games among underage children which can be freely accessed via mobile phones, and causing children's interest in learning to continue to decline over time. Apart from the fact that online games are increasingly mushrooming among children, the decline in children's interest in learning is also due to a decrease in the learning methods used which are also boring. this is also very visible among children who live in rural areas due to the lack of updating of parents and the existing education system in rural areas, which is still monotonous. This will become a very serious problem if it continues. This also happened to several children in sialang village. because of this the process of providing assistance is also carried out through field work practices or PKL II students of social welfare sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of North Sumatra by applying the discussion method in learning. This method has the aim of increasing children's interest in learning and training children to exchange ideas and learning processes as well as daily activities. Apart from that, a mini project was also carried out at the practicum this time, namely by making an intervention, specifically an intervention that aims to help several children in the unlucky village in solving the problems they are experiencing.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, children are required to be able to learn the language of other countries in order to become their guide in exploring a world full of fierce competition from various directions in obtaining the necessities of life such as work, education, and so on. The language that is most recommended to be mastered is English, because English has been designated as a universal language that is commonly used to interact with people around the world. This activity was carried out with a comprehensive mentoring method for Rupin Yafsi's children through socializing the importance of using English in the era of globalization, using the Duolingo application, and testing out the learning achievements obtained after using the Duolingo application. The Intervention Program used in this practicum is the Mezzo Intervention by Zastrow which consists of; Preparation (with a Non-Directive Approach), Intake / Engagement, Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Action Plan, Evaluation and Termination. The final output achieved from this activity is the increase in the digital literacy skills of Rupin Yafsi's children in utilizing digital learning applications that are very useful to increase their new knowledge and insights
