Abstract

The present research aims to investigate and describe the provision of inclusive education services in early childhood education institutions, focusing on TK Hj. Isriati Baiturrahman 2 and PAUD Lab School UNNES in Semarang, Indonesia. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive case study approach, the study comprehensively examined various aspects, including curriculum, student demographics, educator training, infrastructure, and financing. Key findings indicate the utilization of a collaboratively developed "Merdeka Curriculum" aimed at holistic child development. Both schools have incorporated a specialized student selection process to identify and accommodate special needs students. Educators are rigorously trained in inclusive education methods and continuously monitored for program effectiveness. Infrastructure and funding support are pivotal for the actualization of inclusive practices. These findings have profound implications for practice and policy in inclusive education, reaffirming the necessity for inclusive school management and stakeholder involvement. However, the study is constrained by its localized focus and calls for further research to broaden its generalizability and investigate the long-term impacts of these programs.

Abstract

This study explores the planning of character education projects to strengthen the Pancasila student profile through local culture in early childhood education at TK Sukoharjo 1 and TK Desa Majasto 02. Employing a descriptive qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through interviews, observations, and document studies. The findings reveal comprehensive strategies for planning, implementing, and evaluating character education projects. At TK Sukoharjo 01, the project involved forming a facilitator team, identifying readiness stages, and developing specific learning modules. Implementation utilized real-life experiences such as gardening and local markets, while evaluation focused on cooperation, communication, and care. At TK Desa Majasto 02, the project preparation included curriculum development, facilitator team formation, and methods centered around the local culture of "Ngapem," emphasizing global diversity, cooperation, and independence. The implications of these findings are profound for educational policy and practice. Integrating local cultural practices into character education effectively strengthens the Pancasila student profile, fostering values essential for national cohesion and global citizenship. These insights suggest that policymakers and educators should adopt similar culturally embedded educational frameworks, ensuring that character education is theoretically sound, practically relevant, and contextually appropriate. Despite the promising outcomes, limitations include the study's scope confined to two early childhood centers and reliance on qualitative data. Future research should explore applying similar projects in diverse settings, investigating long-term impacts, and integrating quantitative measures to enhance the evidence base.

Abstract

Verbal aggression in early childhood, often characterised by behaviours such as mocking, cursing, and insulting, is a growing concern influenced by parenting stress and parenting styles. This study aims to analyse the relationship between parenting stress and parenting styles and their effects on verbal aggression in young children. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed, involving 125 parents from seven kindergartens in Pemalang Regency. Data collection utilised validated questionnaires, and the sample was determined through proportional sampling. The analysis included descriptive statistics, partial significance testing (T-test), and linear regression. The findings reveal that parenting stress has a significant effect on verbal aggression, with a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.050). Parenting style was also shown to significantly influence verbal aggression, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.050). Collectively, these variables were found to substantially contribute to the level of verbal aggression in early childhood. This research underscores the importance of addressing parenting stress and promoting positive parenting styles to mitigate verbal aggression in young children. Limitations include focusing solely on parenting variables and the absence of longitudinal analysis. Future research should explore additional contributing factors, such as socioeconomic status and child temperament, to develop comprehensive intervention strategies.

Abstract

Unaddressed behavioral problems in early childhood often persist into later life stages. This study aimed to analyze how empathy levels influence behavioral problems among young children and whether this relationship remains significant after controlling for gender. Using an explanatory quantitative design, data were obtained from 141 kindergarten and RA B teachers in Semarang City through a structured questionnaire. The results of frequency analysis showed that children’s empathy levels were entirely within the high category (100%), while behavioral problems were mostly in the low category (70.9%) and moderate category (29%). Multiple regression testing confirmed that empathy significantly reduced problem behaviors (p < 0.05). Emotional contagion, concern for others, and prosocial behavior were the most influential dimensions. When gender was controlled, empathy remained a significant predictor, whereas gender had no direct effect. This study contributes to the growing body of global scholarship on early childhood socio-emotional development by highlighting empathy as a key psychological mechanism for behavioral regulation. It strengthens the theoretical integration between empathy development and behavioral adjustment, offering empirical evidence that supports cross-cultural understanding of emotional and behavioral competencies in early childhood education. The findings suggest that interventions emphasizing emotional contagion, caring, and prosocial responsiveness can effectively reduce behavioral issues regardless of gender. Further studies are recommended to explore cross-contextual factors such as emotional regulation, family interactions, and teacher–child relationships to enrich the explanatory model of empathy’s influence on children’s behavioral outcomes.
