Abstract

Abstract

Kecombrang fruit is used by the community as a food ingredient but actually the skin of this kecombrang fruit can be used as a mouthwash for the development of dental caries. This study aims to evaluate the preparation of mouthwash formulations with the addition of kecombrang fruit peel extract. The work procedure starts from extraction, phytochemical testing, antimicrobial testing of extracts, and evaluation of mouthwash preparations. The results contained secondary metabolites in the form of alkaloids, fla-vonoids, tannins, and saponins. Evaluation of mouthwash preparation with pH test is 5.0-5.6, organoleptic test which does not change significantly, viscosity test at 20% and 30% concentration is 1.0193 cP and 1.0061 cP, and antimicrobial test with inhibi-tion diameter on Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans is 11.3 mm and 11.1 mm. In conclusion, mouthwash with added extracts can inhibit the growth of microbes that cause mouth ulcers and tooth decay.

Abstract

Conventional biology learning methods make students less active during the learning process. The lack of interactive media also causes students to have difficulty understanding the material, resulting in low critical thinking skills. This study aims to develop a Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based quartet card media assisted by QR codes on the topic of environmental change to improve students’ critical thinking skills. The research method used was Research and Development with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The research subjects were 34 students of class X4. The assessment instruments included needs analysis, expert validation sheets, teacher and student response questionnaires, and pretest–posttest evaluations. The results showed that the PBL-based quartet cards assisted by QR codes obtained a validity score of 89% from media experts and 98% from material experts. The quartet cards were also categorized as very practical based on students' responses score of 90% and teachers' responses score of 93%. The N-Gain test obtained a score of 0.76, with a percentage of 76%, which falls into the high category. Therefore, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based quartet card media assisted by QR codes is declared valid, practical, and effective for supporting biology learning.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a type of disease that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion. Many cases occur patients are not compliant in using drugs due to lack of patient knowledge and understanding. This study aims to see if there is an influence of knowledge already and before the provision of Flash card media as education for diabetes mellitus patients at the Paal Merah I Health Center in Jambi City. Methods: Pre-experimental pretest-posttest research. The sample of this study consisted of 57 samples. Data collection in this study was using pretest-posttest and secondary data. The analysis used Wilcoxon's statistical test with p Value = 0.000. Results: There was an increase in knowledge in diabetes mellitus patients who used insulin with p value = 0.000. Determinants associated with the incidence of diabetes mellitus are gender, age and occupation. Conclusion: Increased knowledge in diabetes mellitus patients using insulin

Abstract

Green beans (Phaseolus radiatus) are one of the commodity of legume plants that are generally grown on dry land, Green beans are included in plants that are tolerant of water shortages, the important thing is that the soil has enough moisture. The problem that is often faced in mung bean cultivation in dry land is the low production achieved by farmers, so it is necessary to conduct research on the resistance of mung beans (Phaseolus radiatus) to drought and the effect of watering frequency on productivity. The purpose was to determine the watering interval to the growth response of mung bean plants (Phaseolus radiatus). This study used an experimental design using a Group Random Design (RAK) consisting of 4 treatments with 3 replicas of each treatment. F0U1, F0U2, F0U3 : Control Treatment (No Watering), F1U1, F1U2, F1U3 : Watering frequency 1 (one) time a day. F2U1,F2U2, F2U3 : Watering frequency 2 (two) times a day. F3U1, F3U2, F3U3 : Watering frequency 3 (three) times a day. The parameters in calculating the growth response are the length of the plant, the number of leaves and the height of the plant. The best watering interval for plant length is watering once every 1 (one) day, where the highest plant length is 56.16 cm in the F1 treatment. The best watering interval for the number of leaves of the plant is watering (once) a day, where the average number of leaves is 13.11 leaves in the F1 treatment. The best watering interval for plant height is watering once every 1 (one) day, where the average height of the highest plant is 51.16 cm in the F1 treatment.

Abstract

This study aims to develop website-based instructional media using a scientific learning approach on regulation material for eleventh-grade students that is valid, practical, and effective for use in the learning process. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The developed website-based instructional media includes regulation materials, learning activities based on the scientific approach (observing, questioning, experimenting, reasoning, and communicating), interactive practice exercises, and links to instructional videos to support students’ understanding. The feasibility of the media was evaluated through validation by subject-matter experts and media experts, as well as limited trials with eleventh-grade students. The validation results indicate that the website-based instructional media is categorized as highly feasible for use in learning. Students’ responses show that the website-based instructional media is easy to use, engaging, and helps improve students’ understanding of regulation material. Therefore, the website-based instructional media using a scientific learning approach can serve as an innovative and effective alternative learning medium to support the learning process.   Keywords: ADDIE, Webssite-Based Learning Media, Scientific Approach, Regulation, Research and Development (R&D)
