Abstract

Smoking is a habit or behavior that is very difficult to quit, especially for adolescents. To be able to stop smoking behavior, a strong belief (self-efficacay) is needed from the adolescent to stop smoking. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of empowerment through digital media on the self-efficacy of adolescent smokers at Senior High School. Method This study used a quasi-experimental design through a group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique was through convenience sampling, which amounted to 28 respondents. Collecting research data using the SEQ 12 (Smoking Self-Efficacy Questionaire) questionnaire instrument given at the pre-test and post-test stages. The collected data is then analyzed, which includes univariate analysis, namely analysis of demographic data and bivariate analysis to determine the effect of empowerment using digital media on the self-efficacy of adolescent smokers at SMA Negeri 2 Ciamis using the Wilcoxon test because the normality test results show abnormal data distribution. The results of the Wilcoxon test with a p-value of 0.002 <0.05, which means that there is a significant effect of empowerment using digital media on the self-efficacy of adolescent smokers at Senior High School. The conclusion based on the research that has been done is that empowerment with digital media has an effect on increasing the self-efficacy of adolescents to quit smoking.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which spreads mainly through the air, especially attacking the lungs but can infect any organ, including the brain, kidneys, bones, and lymph nodes. One factor contributing to non-compliance in TB patients is irregular treatment. If treatment is not consistent, it can lead to drug-resistant germs, prolonging treatment and reducing success. Objective: The aim of this study was to improve medication compliance through evidence-based nurturing practices. Method: This study employed two phases including a systematic review to determine the EBNP and the second phase was the implementation of the EBNP. We gathered the participant using total participant but stricly applied the inclusion and exlcusion criteria. Fifteen elderly aged 63±3.314 years in Karanganya, Sawah Besar, Jakarta Pusat were participated in this study. The data analysis using Jamovi aimed to assess the impact of counseling and medication supervision on medication compliance in elderly TB patients. Results: Surprisingly, there was no significant increase in compliance after the intervention (p-value of 0.134). However, the X2 continuity correction analysis revealed that counseling and supervision doubled medication adherence in the elderly. Conclusions: health counseling, consisting of 30-minute sessions from diagnosis to recovery, utilizing media such as posters, is highly recommended by health workers. This intervention aims to improve medication compliance and adherence to the recommended schedule effectively.

Abstract

Sepsis is one of the most common infection complications in intensive care units (ICU). Sepsis causes organ dysfunction, including respiratory failure, that requires ventilator breath support. However, patients often experience ventilator weaning failure. We analyse the relation of predictor ventilator weaning failure in sepsis patients in ICU. This study was a cross-sectional study with study population consisting of sepsis patients who used ventilators in the ICU of Sulianti Saroso Hospital, and there were as many as 58 patients. We studied age, gender, body mass index (BMI), PCO2 value, prolonged ventilator use, pneumonia, malnutrition, vasopressor use and ventilator weaning with secondary data. The data collection instruments used were case report formulas. Descriptive statistical analysis in the form of frequency distribution (n) and proportion (%) and further analysis with binomial logistic regression (α<0.05). Three factors significantly influenced weaning failure were vasopressor use, malnutrition, and BMI (p<0.05). There is a significant influence of vasopressor use, malnutrition, and BMI with ventilator weaning failure.

Abstract

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a leading microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus (DM), primarily caused by chronic hyperglycemia. It leads to vascular occlusion, increased vascular permeability, retinal abnormalities, and detachment, ultimately resulting in visual impairment and blindness. Implementing Evidence Based Nursing Practice using diagnostic tests to determine the sensitivity and specificity of the assessment instrument for Diabetic Retinopathy Risk Factors in Type II DM Diagnostic tests are descriptive observational studies with a cross-sectional study design. This application is classified as descriptive observational because only observations are made without any intervention (treatment). The test is carried out with ROC where to see the sensitivity and specificity of the application instrument. The results of the analysis showed that the sensitivity of the application of the assessment of diabetic retinopathy risk factors using the ROC Curve Test was 100%. Meanwhile, the specificity of the instrument for the application of the assessment of diabetic retinopathy risk factors was 81.3%. The application of diabetic retinopathy risk factor assessment can be used to assess the risk of diabetic retinopathy because it has good sensitivity (%) and specificity (%) values. However, when applying the diabetic retinopathy risk factor assessment, only the risk value of diabetic retinopathy was obtained where the application patient did not experience complaints and decreased visual acuity.

Abstract

Hemodialysis remains the main therapy for patients with kidney failure. During the cannulation process, which is the insertion of a needle into a vascular access, hemodialysis patients often experience pain. The combination of music therapy and the use of stress balls is an example of a non-pharmacological intervention that can be used to overcome pain during cannulation. Objective to identify the effectiveness of the combination of music therapy and stress balls on pain in hemodialysis patients during the vascular access cannulation process. This study used a phased cross-over design, where each respondent received both treatments alternately. A total of 42 respondents were divided into two groups: the experimental group (n = 21) received music therapy and stress balls , while the control group (n = 21) received standard hospital therapy, namely deep breathing relaxation. Furthermore, the two groups exchanged treatments. The level of pain was measured using a VAS (Visual Analog Scale). The results showed that the combination of music therapy and stress balls was effective in reducing pain during the cannulation process, with significant changes in pain levels after insertion (p < 0.001). Cohen's d effect size of -0.632 indicates that combination therapy has a stronger effect in reducing pain than deep breathing relaxation therapy.

Abstract

HIV infection continues to be a significant public health problem worldwide, including Indonesia, with impacts spanning social, economic, and cultural aspects. People living with HIV (PLHIV) are faced with various pressures and are in dire need of coping strategies. This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and spiritual well-being with the use of coping strategies in PLHIV. This study is an analytic study with a cross sectional approach. A sample of 39 ODHIV was selected using purposive sampling method. Data were collected by filling out the GSES questionnaire to assess self-efficacy, the SWBS questionnaire to measure spiritual well-being, and the BRIEF RCOPE questionnaire to determine coping strategies. Logistic regression multinomial inferencial test found no association between self-efficacy and spiritual well-being with the use of coping strategies. Most were male (76.9%), high school education level (64.1%), and married (59%). Descriptive analysis obtained respondents who used problem-oriented coping strategies (28.2%); emotion-oriented (38.5%); and religious-oriented (33.3%). Multinomial logistic regression test showed no significant association between self-efficacy and the use of coping strategies and no association between spiritual well-being and coping strategies (p-value > 0.05). Spiritual aspects are important to consider as they can be a source of coping and motivation to help patients cope with sudden illness and reduce the level of pain due to the perceived condition so as to quickly move towards healing. Nurses need to apply nursing care using coping instruments, comprehensively from the assessment process to the evaluation process.
