It involves seventh graders class in aschool at Libureng in academic year 2010/2011 with number of students, 30 students(15 males and 15 females). In collecting the data, the present study used pre-test andpost-test as the instrument then calculated them by using normality, validity, reliability, gain test and t-test. The findings show that the value of t-obtained was 11,82 and thevalue of t-table at significance level of 5% was 2,045 with the degree of freedom(df=29). The result of t-obtained (11,82) indicates that H0 is rejected and consequentlythe H1 is accepted. It means that the use of mind map method can improves students’vocabulary mastery. The students claim that this method offers interesting learning, challenge creativity, and serves new simple method to memorize some vocabularies. So,it is recommended for further researcher to conduct a research for other skills andother methods.

The type of this research is descriptive quantitative research. The sample of this research is 64 students. The data collection techniques are questionnaires, observations, and documentation, with data analysis techniques using Normality test, linearity test, simple linear regression, and T-Test. The results of this research can be proven from the results of the first normality test, the significant value of 0,200 > 0,05 it can be concluded that the data is normally distributed. The linearity test shows that the significance value of deviation from linearity is 0,179. It can be concluded that the deviation significance value of 0,179 >0,05 means that there is a relationship between the X variable (proximity) and the Y variable (Students Activeness). Then, the hypothesis test through simple linear regression that there is an influence between the X and Y variables because the significant value is 0,0001 < 0,05. Second, the T-test shows a significant value of 0,0001 < 0,05, which means H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected. There is a 38% significant influence of proximity towards students activeness.

Abstract

Vocabulary teaching, especially in early childhood, must be emphasized, because having sufficient vocabulary will make it easier for children to communicate. The Lontara script is a regional language that is now almost forgotten by the younger generation; therefore, this research tries to integrate the Lontara script in learning English vocabulary. The type of research used in this research is quantitative research with experimental methods. In this study, researchers used the One-Group Pre-Test-Post-Test Design. The data obtained can be interpreted to be in positive ranks, with an average value (mean ranks) equal to 24.50, and a total value (sum of ranks) equal to 1176.00. This means that there is an increase in post-test scores after treatment, which means that the integration of Lontara Bugis script in learning English vocabulary is effective in improving understanding of English vocabulary for fifth-grade students at MI Darul Abrar Balle Village, MIS Arrahman Labuaja, and MIS UKI Siputanre Cakkela, which are in Kahu District, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi Province.

Abstract

The implementation of the independent curriculum continues to raise numerous questions among educators. Teachers face the challenge of adapting to and successfully implementing this curriculum by employing engaging media and effective learning strategies tailored to their respective disciplines. This is especially crucial in the context of English language instruction, a subject often perceived as difficult by students. One potential solution to address these challenges is the adoption of differentiated learning strategies. Differentiated learning aims to unlock and maximize the potential of every student by aligning instructional methods with their individual needs, readiness levels, interests, and learning profiles. Within this framework, Cultural Responsive Teaching (CRT) emerges as a valuable approach, enabling educators to create inclusive and culturally relevant learning experiences that resonate with diverse student backgrounds. This study investigates the implementation of CRT in supporting differentiated learning strategies in English language education. Utilizing a pre-experimental design, the research was conducted at MAS Darul Qalam Bulukumba. Data collection methods included administering questionnaires to assess student interest and conducting pre- and post-tests to measure learning outcomes. The findings reveal a significant positive improvement in students' interest in learning English after the introduction of CRT, compared to their interest levels prior to its implementation. Additionally, the analysis of test results indicates a notable increase in students' academic performance, demonstrating the effectiveness of CRT in fostering both engagement and achievement. These results highlight the potential of CRT as a transformative tool in enhancing English language learning in the context of the independent curriculum.
