Abstract

Supplements for pregnant women are one of the treatment strategies that have important benefits in fulfilling the nutrition of pregnant women with poor nutrition in increasing fetal growth. One strategy for handling stunting cases at an early age is with additional interventions that can have an impact on reducing stunting cases. The purpose ofthis study was to systematically review the intervention of pregnant women with supplements and their benefits in preventing stunting. This systematic review was conducted using the 2009 PRISMA checklist. This study used databases namely PubMed, Cochrane Library, Springer Link, Base. The inclusion criteria for this study were English articles with a randomized controlled trial design (RCT) published in the last 10 years. This study found that seven studies met the inclusion criteria. Supplement interventions for pregnant women are divided into three types of supplements, namely lipid-based nutritional supplements (LNS-SQ), zinc supplements, and protein-energy food supplements that can be used as stunting prevention interventions. The LNS-SQ intervention can increase fetal growth but it is necessary to consider the intervention procedure and dose, content of supplements, and side effects of the intervention. The supplement intervention uses a holistic community approach strategy that has a positive impact on stunting prevention.

Abstract

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a common sensorimotor disorder in patients with chronic renal failure who undergo hemodialysis (HD). Pharmacological therapy is the main choice of RLS treatment that is at risk of side effects. Physical optimization of HD patients through stretching exercise is considered potentially effective in treating restless legs syndrome. This study aimed to identify the effect of stretching exercise on RLS in patients with chronic renal failure who underwent HD at Hasanuddin University Hospital. This research method used quasi experiment with pre- and post-test with control group design. The subjects in this study were 20 HD patients divided into two groups: 10 patients, Intervention and 10 control patients. Stretching exercise is given twice a week during the hemodialysis process, for 4 weeks. The RLS scale is measured using IRLS Scale. The collected data were then analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the respondents who received stretching exercise intervention experienced a decreaseof the RLS scale more significantly than the control group with ρ = 0.001 (ρ

Abstract

Aims: The purpose of this literature review is to determine the factors that affect the value of the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: Search articles through Pubmed, Science Direct, Scopus and Researchgate. The articles obtained were filtered based on full text, 20 articles were found, and six articles were analyzed through analysis of objectives, suitability of topics, research methods used, characteristics of respondents, and the results of each article, published 2017-2021, in English and Indonesian. Results: ABI value in people with diabetes is influenced by age with a lower prevalence of ABI higher in men, treatment with oral anti-diabetic or insulin, mean arterial pressure, the severity of diabetic foot, and the presence of symptoms of complications of diabetes mellitus such as diabetic retinopathy. However, the duration of suffering from diabetes mellitus did not affect the abnormal ABI value. Conclusion: The Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) value can be influenced by Age, Gender, the severity of diabetic foot, and symptoms of complications, but the length of suffering from Diabetes Mellitus does not affect the ABI value.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the actions of health workers in preventing the effects of N95 masks. The research method used is literature review through electronic databases and websites, namely Pubmed, Proquest, ScienceDirect and Wiley. The results showed that from 9 research articles, there were articles that reported that the use of bandages was effective in preventing injury and providing comfort, there were also articles that wrote no harm but caused discomfort and there were those who reported more pressure injuries with the use of bandages than those who did not use a dressing. In conclusion, preventive measures by using sanitary napkins when wearing an N95 mask can be applied, although further research is still needed to determine its effectiveness. Abstract

Along with the increasing number of cases diagnosed with cancer, cancer treatment therapy is growing, one of which is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is an indicated treatment for systemic, metastatic, and advanced cancers, whose use has increased from one to four in 10 patients diagnosed with cancer. This is because chemotherapy can reduce recurrence rates and prolong life. However, chemotherapy has some serious side effects, such as experiencing nutritional problems during and after chemotherapy, even continuing for the next year. Thus, the need for early screening to detect patients at risk for nutritional problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the use of appropriate nutritional assessment in cancer patients with chemotherapy. This research study is a literature review using PI(E)O (patient, intervention/exposure and outcome) to determine the keywords used in searches in several databases. The databases used are PubMed, Wiley Online Library, Science Director and Google Scholar. The keywords used are (Cancer AND Chemotherapy) AND (Assessment OR Measurement OR Instrument OR Screening) AND (Nutrition OR Nutritional Status OR Nutrition Score). A total of articles 134,274 were identified, after being screened for the last 5 years (2016-2021), in English, full text, duplication, and according to the title and abstract, obtained 73 articles and nine article include this study. The results of a literature search found nine articles describing nutritional assessments used by cancer patients with chemotherapy, namely; PG-SGA as many as four articles, NRS-2002 as many as two articles, MST as many as one article, MNA as many as one article, and a combination of MUST and PG-SGA as many as one article. PG-SGA is a nutritional assessment that is precise, effective, easy, accurate, simple, and has high sensitivity. In addition, PG-SGA can be used in conjunction with other nutritional assessments, and is proven to be efficient.
