Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide information about the role of mathematics in social society. The method of writing this article uses literature study by taking information sources from various data sources such as books, journals, and the internet. The author hopes that this article will add to the reader's insight about mathematics which has urgency with the development of social life, namely how mathematics is used to solve everyday human problems, and the relationship of mathematics to the progress of the times. In the economic development of society, mathematics provides such a large contribution, mathematics as a means of interacting socially. Both from buying and selling activities, banking, lending and borrowing, and other activities. Judging from the agricultural aspect, it turns out that farmers' activities are related to mathematics, namely measuring and calculating. From the aspect of education, mathematics has a consistent character in the system and adheres to principles. This means that there is no contradiction in mathematics in the system. Consistency is meant in terms of meaning and truth value. It is expected that students after studying mathematics can make students honest, consistent, and responsible characters.

Abstract

Kemampuan kolaborasi sangat penting untuk dikembangkan agar mahasiswa dapat bekerjasama dalam perbedaan kelompok sebagai bekal untuk menghadapi era globalisasi abad ke-21. Sebagai calon guru abad 21 mahasiswa perlu mengembangkan kemampuan kolaborasi mereka agar dapat bekerja secara profesional. Salah satu metode pembelajaran,yang memungkinkan mahasiswa melakukan aktivitas kolaborasi yang dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran matematika adalah case method  sebab pemecahan kasus dilakukan dengan berpikir kritis secara ilmiah. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh implementasi Case Method berbasis pembelajaran proyek kolaboratif terhadap kemampuan kolaboratif mahasiswa dan seberapa besar pengaruh tersebut. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperiment dengan sampel penelitian mahasiswa semester 6 yang mengambil mata kuliah struktur sebanyak 34 mahasiswa di Program Studi Pendidikan matematika. Instrumen penelitian ini menggunakan angket kemampuan kolaboratif mahasiswa yang berjumlah 30 butir pernyataan dengan skala likert 1 sampai 4. Pemberian angket pada mahasiswa sebanyak dua kali yaitu pada saat sebelum dan sesudah pembelajaran menggunakan case method. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini yaitu statistic paired sample t test Sig. (2-talled) < 0,05. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh implementasi case method berbasis proyek kolaboratif terhadap kemampuan kolaboratif mahasiswa dengan efek size kriteria sedang. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut Case Method baik digunakan dalam pembelajaran matematika.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kemampuan dan mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis setelah diajarkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran inkuiri. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI MIA 5 SMA Negeri 9 Medan. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan pedoman wawancara. Kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis siswa dalam proses pembelajaran aktif diajarkan dengan model pembelajaran inkuiri, karena dalam model tersebut didalamnya erat hubungannya  dengan berpikir kritis matematis dapat dilihat dari sintaksnya yang mampu menopang kemampuan tersebut. Sehingga dari hasil penelitian diperoleh data bahwa: siswa dengan tingkat kemampuan berpikir kritis kategori sangat tinggi diperoleh sebanyak 3 orang siswa (9%), kategori tinggi diperoleh sebanyak 9 orang siswa (27%), kategori sedang diperoleh sebanyak 12 orang siswa (36%), kategori rendah diperoleh sebanyak 6 orang siswa (18%) dan kategori sangat rendah diperoleh   3 orang siswa (9%) dari total keseluruhan 33 siswa. Perolehan perindikator berpikir kritis matematis siswa yang mampu mengerjakan kemampuan interpretasi terdapat 21 siswa (63,6%), kemampuan analisis terdapat 14 siswa (42,4%), kemampuan evaluasi terdapat 10 siswa (30,3%), dan kemampuan inferensi terdapat 7 siswa (21,2%). Kesulitan yang dihadapi siswa yaitu berkesinambungan dengan ketidakmampuan siswa dalam mengerjakan setiap aspek kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam mengerjakan soal yang diberikan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together (NHT) berbantuan Geogebra dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII A MTsN 4 Padang Lawas serta mengetahui bagaimana peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A MTsN 4 Padang Lawas tahun ajaran 2022/2023 berjumlah 36 siswa. Instrumen penelitian ini terdiri dari tes dan lembar observasi kegiatan guru. Analisis data hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together berbantuan Geogebra mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I ke siklus II dengan nilai rata-rata siklus I adalah 72,91 (cukup), dan siklus II adalah 91,66 (sangat baik). Rata-rata kemampuan penalaran matematis awal siswa, siklus I, dan siklus II masing-masing adalah 51,16 (cukup) dengan PKK 25%, 65,97 (baik) dengan PKK 47,22%, serta 82,18 (sangat baik) dengan PKK 86,11%. Berdasarkan uraian tersebut, Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa kelas VIII A MTsN 4 Padang Lawas meningkat setelah diterapkannya model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Numbered Head Together berbantuan Geogebra.

Abstract

Multicultural learning is a strategy for creating a learning environment and designing a learning experience that integrates culture as part of the learning process. In multicultural learning, culture becomes a method for students to transform the results of their observations into creative forms and principles of nature so that the role of students is not merely to imitate or receive information, but to act as a creation of meaning and understanding. Subjects such as Citizenship Education, Social Sciences, Natural Science, Cultural Arts and Skills are considered to contribute to multicultural learning, but mathematics subjects can also contribute. The research aimed to find out how the use of multicultural learning in mathematical learning, on flat building materials, affected students' racism and social attitudes. This is a qualitative descriptive study that uses the interview method to gather data. The results will be qualitatively analyzed. Interviews were conducted to find out how multiculturalism is integrated into learning, how knowledge construction is built through cultural influences, how prejudice reduction occurs, how equality pedagogy is implemented, how the empowerment of school culture occurs in the learning process, and how it impacts in tackling racism and social attitudes of students after using such learning.

Abstract

There are many tribes in Indonesia and each tribe has its own uniqueness. However, this uniqueness certainly has a value that is considered important for each follower. The unique values of each tribe influence various aspects in the lives of the individuals in that tribe. The Toba Batak ethnic group has a cultural philosophy to guide their lives. To achieve this philosophy they carry out education because they are aware that education is a step in achieving this philosophy. The Toba Batak tribe has many life philosophies or life guidelines. One such philosophy is Anakkon Hi Do Hamoraon in Ahu. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. This research aims to: examine the cultural philosophy of the Toba Bataks in North Tapanuli in shaping the mindset of the Toba Batak ethnic group regarding the importance of education. This research has 2 objectives, namely: 1). Knowing the condition of education in North Tapanuli, and 2). Knowing the role of Toba Batak cultural values in community education in North Tapanuli. The research was carried out by conducting field observations, literature studies and in-depth interviews with three types of sources, namely: government, community leaders and the community. The research results were analyzed using qualitative descriptive methods. The research results show the role of local cultural values in increasing public awareness of obtaining education. Through education, society achieves 3 main ideals, namely hamoraon, hagabeon and hasangapon so that society is taken into account in daily life and in cultural activities. The cultural value of anakkon ki do hamoraon in ahu has a unique educational significance. The community is invited to strive to obtain education for their children accompanied by the aspiration that their children's lives must be of a higher quality than their own lives, which can only be achieved by obtaining a good education. These cultural values also motivate students to study and excel in school.

Abstract

The low mathematical problem-solvingability of class X students of SMK Negeri 14 Medan and the lack of application of learning models according to the latest trends are the background of this research. This study aims to determine the effect and effect size of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) using Video-Based Learning (VBL) on the mathematical problem-solvingability of students at SMK Negeri 14 Medan in a two-variable linear equation system. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design, where class X TEI is the experimental class, and class X TITL 1 as the control class. Data collection techniques in the form of pretest and posttest results were given to the two research classes. Furthermore, the t-test was carried out to test the hypothesis after first passing the prerequisite tests, namely the normality test and homogeneity test. The results obtained indicate that learning with the PBL model using VBL has an effect on students' mathematical problem-solvingability. Students who are taught with the PBL model using VBL have higher problem-solvingability than those taught with the direct learning model. The effect size of the treatment indicate that there is a high and consistent influence of the application of the PBL model using VBL on the mathematical problem-solvingability of students at SMK Negeri 14 Medan

Abstract

Philosophy requires humans to think intelligently to develop towards the next thought of knowledge. The presence of ethnomathematics is not a new thing but has existed since the introduction of mathematics itself as a form of advanced knowledge thinking related to mathematics learning. Through the concept of ethnomathematics, cultural practices can be studied so that students will better understand how their culture is related to mathematics. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method with a type of ethnographic research that analyzes the movement pattern of traditional Malay dance culture in Serampang 12. The results of the research findings are in the form of variations in mathematics learning, in the form of media associated in the context of traditional Malay culture, so that students who have been considering boring and rigid learning can have a fun lesson because it is associate with the value of the beauty of a Traditional Dance who have a philosophy of politeness, order, togetherness or positive association. The exploration of movement patterns in the traditional dance of Serampang 12 also aims to make it easier for students to build a learning experience that connected to the visual and kinesthetic experience of students. AbstrakFilsafat menuntut manusia agar berpikir cerdas sehingga manusia tersebut dapat berkembang menuju pemikiran pengetahuan yang selanjutnya. Kehadiran etnomatematika bukan suatu hal yang baru melainkan sudah ada sejak diperkenalkan ilmu matematika itu sendiri sebagai bentuk pemikiran pengetahuan lanjutan terkait dengan pembelajaran matematika. Melalui konsep etnomatematika dapat dikaji praktik budaya sehingga peserta didik akan lebih memahami bagaimana budaya mereka terkait dengan matematika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian etnografi yang menganalisis pola gerakan budaya tari tradisional Melayu Serampang 12. Hasil temuan penelitian berupa variasi dalam pembelajaran matematika dimana media dikaitkan dalam konteks budaya tradisional Melayu, sehingga peserta didik yang selama ini menganggap pembelajaran membosankan dan kaku bisa menjadi pelajaran yang menyenangkan karena bisa dihubungkan dengan nilai keindahan suatu tarian tradisional serampang 12 yang memiliki filosofi kesopanan, keteraturan, kebersamaan atau pergaulan yang positif. Eksplorasi pola gerakan pada tarian tradisional Serampang 12 juga bertujuan untuk memberikan kemudahan peserta didik dalam membangun pengalaman belajar yang terhubung dengan pengalaman visual dan kinestetik peserta didik.Kata Kunci: budaya; filsafat; Matematika; pendidikan Matematika

Abstract

Penelitian ini berguna dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis murid SMP Swasta Al Razi Sinar Harapan Medan melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berbantuan Geogebra. Subjek riset berjumlah 25 siswa kelas VIII-2 SMP Swasta Al Razi Sinar Harapan Medan. Riset ini memakai metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dengan 2 siklus, di mana setiap siklus mencakup 2 pertemuan. Data dikumpulkan melalui lembar observasi guru dan siswa serta tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa. Tes direalisasikan sebanyak tiga kali, yakni tes awal, kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis I, dan tes kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis II. Perolehan riset menggambarkan peningkatan secara signifikan dalam kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa yang dapat diamati dari hasil tes awal hanya sebanyak 12% anak didik yang tuntas tetapi pada tes akhir siklus I mengalami peningkatan secara klasikal dengan memperoleh sebanyak 44% siswa tuntas. Kemudian pada siklus II terjadi peningkatkan lebih lanjut dengan tingkat ketuntasan klasikal pada tes akhir siklus II mencapai 92%. Rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 0,50 menggambarkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa. Dengan demikian, diputuskan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berbantuan Geogebra efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa SMP Swasta Al Razi Sinar Harapan Medan.

Abstract

21st century mathematics education has made use of science and technology while maintaining the philosophy of mathematics from an ethical and epistemological standpoint. This paper examines the goals of the philosophy of mathematics from an epistemological and ethical perspective. It also investigates the relationship between these perspectives and the practice of studying mathematics in the twenty-first century. This article was written using the Publish or Perish software and a systematic literature review approach. 41 initial articles were found by inputting keywords. Following review, fifteen articles were found to be in agreement. This study reveals that the goal of mathematics philosophy is to understand truth, meaning, certainty, and the nature and sources of mathematical knowledge, as well as how to interpret mathematics, from an epistemological perspective. Analyze and reflect on the ethical implications of mathematical practices. Its epistemological application in 21st century learning practices guides the way concepts are positioned, logical arguments are made, and mathematical problems are solved. Next, ethical considerations include maintaining student privacy, establishing learning agreements in every class, and avoiding creating group distinctions. by utilizing an interactive, student-centered learning paradigm like PBL, inquiry, contextual learning, use of technology, STEM, and others. Such behaviors will subsequently cultivate the values of critical, communicative, creative, and cooperative character. Therefore, we must uphold the fundamentals of learning in the 21st century, both in terms of epistemology and ethics.
