Abstract

This research aimed to develop an integrated assessment instrument and to study the instrument’s characteristics. This research used 4-D development model of which the stages included defining, designing, developing, and disseminating. The primary product is validated by expert judgment. This research involved 274 mathematics and natural science eleventh-grade students of Senior High Schools in Sleman district, Yogyakarta. The polytomous data generated by the instrument trial was analyzed using the WINSTEPS 3.73 program and the Partial Credit Model 1-Parameter Logistic (PCM 1-PL) approach. Data collecting techniques included interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Data collecting instruments included interview guidelines, a question item validation sheet, and the integrated assessment instrument an essay test. The result of the research shows that the integrated assessment instrument has 0.93 of Aiken validation value. All tryout test items were stated to fit with the PCM 1-PL based on the criteria for the lowest and the highest limit outfit MNSQ 0.5 and 1.5. Item reliability was 0.96 and person reliability was 0.71. The difficulty level of question items was good, because of the range from -1.05 to +1.01 logit. Therefore, the integrated assessment instrument is suitable to be applied to measure the student’s critical thinking skills and scientific attitudes.

Abstract

Bacterial cellulose (C) and its composites were synthesized from rice waste water with addition of glycerol (G) and chitosan (Ch).Antibacterial activity of the C, the bacterial cellulose-chitosan composite (CCh), and the bacterial  cellulose – glycerol - chitosan composite (CGCh) which were deposited silver nanoparticles against S. aureus, E. coli,  and yeast C. albicans has been conducted. Silver nanoparticles was prepared by chemical reduction of a silver nitrate solution, a trisodium citrate as a reductor, and a PVA as a stabilizer. The UV-Vis spectroscopy is used to determine the formation of silver nanoparticles. The characterization was conducted on the bacterial celluloses and those composites including the functional groups by the FTIR, the mechanical properties by Tensile Tester, photos surfaces by SEM, and the test of the antibacterial activity against S. aureus, E. coli, and C. albicans by diffusion method. The silver nanoparticle characterization indicates that the silver nanoparticles are formed at a wavelength of 418.80 nm. The antibacterial test showed an inhibitory effect of the C, the CCh, and the CGCh which are deposited  the silver nanoparticles against of S. aureus, E. coli,  and C.albicans. The CGChs which are deposited silver nanoparticles has the highest antimicrobial activity against the Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The CGs which are deposited silver nanoparticles provide the highest antimicrobial activity against the E. coli ATCC 25922 and the yeast Candida albicans ATCC 10231.

Abstract

Kegiatan penyuluhan dan pelatihan melalui PkM ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pengetahuan tentang cara pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi dari limbah kulit jeruk pada pemuda Kampung Pingit, menjelaskan manfaat pengolahan limbah kulit jeruk menjadi sabun mandi aroma terapi, dan memotivasi pemuda Kampung Pingit untuk membuat usaha pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi. Kegiatan PkM ditujukan bagi kelompok Muda Mudi Mesjid Al-Manshurin Kampung Pingit, Kelurahan Bumijo, Kecamatan Jetis, Kodya Yogya. Melalui koordinasi dengan Ketua Muda Mudi Mesjid Al-Manshurin Kampung Pingit, sebanyak 48 anggota  kelompok muda mudi Kampung Pingit diundang dalam pelatihan ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan PkM ini adalah ceramah, diskusi, dan demonstrasi tentang cara pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi, manfaat pengolahan kulit jeruk menjadi minyak atsiri sebagai bahan baku pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi, serta kiat untuk melakukan wirausaha di bidang pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi meliputi modal yang dibutuhkan, teknik pengemasan, serta strategi pemasaran. Berdasarkan evaluasi proses dan produk serta diskusi dengan peserta pelatihan kegiatan PPM dapat disimpulkan bahwa seluruh pemuda Kampung Pingit peserta kegiatan pengasuhan manajemen kewirausahaan mengungkap bahwa kegiatan PPM tentang cara pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi dari limbah kulit jeruk dapat memberikan bekal pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi. Sebanyak 100% peserta pelatihan menyatakan bahwa kegiatan pengasuhan manajemen kewirausahaan pengolahan limbah kulit jeruk menjadi sabun mandi aroma terapi dapat memberikan manfaat kepada mereka. Sebanyak 91% peserta pelatihan menyatakan bahwa kegiatan pengasuhan manajemen kewirausahaan ini mampu memotivasi pemuda Kampung Pingit untuk mencoba sendiri dan sebanyak 80% peserta pelatihan menyatakan bahwa kegiatan PPM tersebut dapat memotivasi mereka untuk berwirausaha membuat usaha pembuatan sabun mandi aroma terapi. Kata kunci: limbah kulit jeruk, pengasuhan, dan sabun aroma terapi Parenting of Entrepreneurship Management through Training of Making of Aroma Soap from Citrus Skin Waste Abstract           Extension and training activities through PkM aimed to provide knowledge on how to make aromatherapy bath soap from citrus peel waste in Pingit Village youth, to explain the benefits of citrus skin processing waste into aromatherapy soap, and to motivate the youth in Pingit Village to make a bath soap making business aroma therapy. The activities of PkM were aimed at youths in Mesjid Al-Manshurin Kampung Pingit, Bumijo, Jetis, Yogya. In coordination with the Chairman of  Muda Mudi Mesjid Al-Manshurin of Pingit Village, 48 members of the young in village group were invited to this training. The methods used in this PkM activity were lectures, discussions, and demonstrations on how to make aromatherapy soap, the benefits of citrus skin processing into essential oil as a raw material for aromatherapy soaps, and tips for entrepreneurship in aromatherapy soap making including the required capital, packaging techniques, and marketing strategies. Based on the evaluation of the process and product and discussion with the participants of the PkM activity, it can be concluded that all youth participated in entrepreneurial management activities revealed that the PkM activities on how to make aromatherapy soap bath from orange peel waste can provide knowledge and understanding about making aroma bath soap therapy. As many as 100% of trainees stated that the entrepreneurial management activities of citrus skin processing waste into aromatherapy soap can benefit them. As many as 91% of the participants stated that this entrepreneurial management activity is able to motivate the youth to try their own and as many as 80% of the participants stated that the PkM activities can motivate them to make entrepreneurial effort to make aromatherapy bath soap. Keywords: citron skin waste, parenting, and aromatherapy soap

Abstract

The objective of this research were to study hydrophobicity and antibacterial activity of polyester fibers before and after modification by using silver nanoparticles as antibacterial agent and hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS) as self cleaning agent. The research was conducted in stages, chemical preparation of silver nanoparticles, deposit of silver nanoparticles on polyester fiber, modification of polyester fiber through the addition HDTMS, and characterization. Modification of polyester fibers with silver nanoparticles and HDTMS was conducted through dipping method, followed by curing. Characterization was conducted by testing the contact angle and antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 35218. Silver nanoparticles has been prepared by adding sodium citrate and polyvinylalcohol as stabilizer. The addition of silver nanoparticles decreased hydrophobicity of polyester fibers without and with modification. Modification with HDTMS increased hydrophobicity of polyester fibers. Modification with silver nanoparticles and HDTMS increased antibacterial activity of polyester fabrics. Statistic analysis showed that there were significant differences in the antibacterial activity of polyester fibers against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 and Escherichia coli ATCC 35218

Abstract

This study aimed to prepare silver nanoparticles chemically, deposite silver nanoparticles on bacterial cellulose-chitosan-glycerol composite based rice waste water, as well as test the antibacterial activity of bacterial cellulose and its composite. Preparation of silver nanoparticles was conducted by chemical reduction of silver nitrate solution, as well as trisodium citrate as the reductor. Bacterial cellulose from rice waste water is fermented by the bacteria Acetobacter xylinum for 7 days. The dried bacterial cellulose was composited with chitosan and glycerol by immersion method on 2% of chitosan solution and 0.5% of glycerol solution. UV-Vis spectroscopy is used to determine the formation of silvernanoparticles and Particle Size Analyzer to test the size and particle size distribution. Characterization was conducted to bacterial cellulose and its composite included functional groups by FTIR, the mechanical properties by Tensile Tester, crystallinity by XRD, surface photograph by SEM, and antibacterial test against S. aureus and E. coli by the shake flask turbidimetry method. Silver nanoparticle characterization indicated that silver nanoparticles are formed at a wavelength of 421.80 nm, yellow, diameter particle size of 61.8 nm. SEM images showed that the surface of bacterial cellulose had deposited silver nanoparticles and antibacterial test showed an inhibitory effect of bacterial cellulose, bacterial cellulose-chitosan composite, and bacterial cellulose-chitosan-glycerol composite which are deposited silver nanoparticles against the growth of S. aureus and E. coli bacteria.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effect of PBL model on students’ analytical thinking abilities and science process skills at rate reaction. This research was quasi experimental research using posttest-only control design. The sample was consisted 2 classess, experiment class used Problem Based Learning model and control class used Direct Instruction model with a total sample of 61 students. Instruments of this research were the observation sheet for measuring science process skills and the integrated assessment instrument which involved two indicators, analytical thinking abilities and science process skills. The result of this study shows that PBL model can increase students’ analytical thinking abilities and science process skills. The mean of posttest analytical thinking abilities and science process skills in experiment class is better than control class. The result of the statistic tests using ancova analysis shows that significance 0.000 0.05 at 5% significance level, so there’s effect of the using of PBL model on students’ analytical thinking abilities and science process skills.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh model PBL terhadap kemampuan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan proses sains kimia peserta didik pada materi laju reaksi menggunakan instrumen penilaian terintegrasi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu. Desain penelitian yang digunakan, yaitu posttest control group design. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 61 peserta didik yang dibagi dalam dua kelas, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen menggunakan model Problem Based Learning, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan model Direct Instruction. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian, yaitu lembar observasi untuk mengukur keterampilan proses sains kimia dan instrumen penilaian terintegrasi yang mencakup indikator kemampuan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan proses sains kimia peserta didik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Problem Based Learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan proses sains kimia peserta didik. Nilai rata-rata posttest kemampuan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan proses sains kimia kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibanding kelas kontrol. Hasil uji statistik menggunakan uji ankova menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 0,05 sehingga pada taraf signifikansi 5% dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh penggunaan model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan berpikir analitis dan keterampilan proses sains kimia peserta didik pada materi laju reaksi.

Abstract

Nanopartikel perak banyak dikembangkan karena sifat-sifatnya sebagai antimikroba, digunakan dalam berbagai bidang industri, diantaranya industri kulit. Antimikroba sangat dibutuhkan dalam proses penyamakan kulit agar kulit menjadi lebih awet. Kulit dapat dikonversi menjadi aneka barang kulit dengan sentuhan finishing yang eksotis seperti ecoprint dan batik kulit. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk  mengetahui pengaruh nanopartikel perak dengan reduktor ekstrak daun sambiloto dan kulit pisang kepok sebagai anti bakteri pada kulit domba tersamak. Dalam penelitian ini, digunakan nanopertikel perak yang disintesis dengan reduktor daun sambiloto dan ekstrak pisang kepok. Hasil uji aktifitas pertumbuhan bakteri S.aureus dan E.coli, menunjukkan bahwa daun sambiloto sebagai reduktor mempunyai kemampuan terbaik untuk menghambat bakteri E.coli. Hasil analisis FTIR menunjukkan penurunan absorbansi terutama dalam penyerapan gugus –OH dan N-H serta gugus -C=O karena gugus-gugus tersebut berinteraksi dengan nanopartikel perak. Hasil pengamatan morfologi menggunakan SEM menunjukkan adanya butiran berbentuk bulat (spherical) yang tersebar dalam jaringan kulit yang berarti telah terjadi ikatan nanopartikel perak pada struktur  jaringan kulit domba tersamak. Jumlah butiran bulat yang tersebar pada struktur jaringan kulit domba tersamak setelah diberi nanopartikel perak dengan reduktor daun sambiloto tampak lebih banyak dibandingkan dengan kulit setelah diberi nanopartikel perak dengan reduktor kulit pisang kepok.

Abstract

Learning during a pandemic requires teachers to innovate in developing teaching materials that can be used in online learning. The use of problem-based learning-based electronic student worksheets (SW) can be an innovative solution for teaching materials that are integrated with technological developments that can help the online learning process. This study aims to analyze the differences in students' problem-solving abilities between classes that use problem-based learning-based electronic student worksheets and classes that do not use problem-based learning-based electronic student worksheets on acid-base materials and analyze the effective contribution of the application of problem-based electronic worksheets. -based learning on students' problem-solving abilities on acid-base material. This research is a Quasi Experiment research type with post-test only control-group type. The research instruments used are syllabus, lesson plans, problem-based learning-based electronic worksheets and problem-solving skills. The data analysis technique in this study consisted of 2 analyzes, namely the independent sample t-test and effect size analysis. The results of the development research show that: (1) there are differences in the problem-solving abilities of students between classes that use problem-based learning-based electronic student worksheets and those that do not use problem-based learning-based electronic student worksheets on acid-base materials for class XI MIPA, (2) Problem-based learning-based electronic worksheets provide an effective contribution to students' problem-solving abilities on acid-base materials with a percentage of 2.5%.

Abstract

This study aimed to overview learning strategies to create learning innovation that can improve students' high-order thinking and communication skills in science learning. This research was classified as a systematic review. The data used in this study was secondary. This study's 15 secondary data sources consist of books, proceedings, and scientific articles in reputable journals. The data analysis using Miles & Huberman analysis technique. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The result of this study is that problem-based learning and inquiry-based instruction is learning strategies that can improve students' high-order thinking skills. The learning strategy that can improve students' communication skills is problem-based learning. High-order thinking skills and communication skills can influence each other. It was hoped that with this research, innovative learning centered on learning models and learning media could be developed so that students have high-order thinking and communication skills with good categories in future education.

Abstract

Students’ competencies in the 21st century can be achieved if the students have various skills and scientific attitudes. Scientific Attitude will affect students' minds or memories and actions that require in making decisions and problem-solving in the future. So, the aim of this study was to describe the profile of students' scientific attitudes through Practicum Activities Using Student E-Worksheet Based Chemicals at Home. This research used a descriptive quantitative method. The research was conducted in Budi Mulia Dua senior high school, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, at the last of the first semester of the academic year 2021/2022. The observation involved 15 of tenth-grade students as the participant. The data was collected using an observation sheet which was developed based on students' scientific attitude aspects. The instrument has been validated by expert learning lecturers so that it is feasible to use. The data obtained from the students were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of students’ scientific attitudes were in the good category ie. 75.8%. Therefore, teachers need to innovate the learning process in order to improve students' scientific attitudes
