Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the application of emergency online learning during covid 19 in STKIP Media Nusantara Citra using the CIPP evaluation model. The Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) evaluation model was formed to identify the evaluation result for the sake of program improvement. The descriptive qualitative study was used in this research. The subjects of this research were the Director of STKIP MNC, the head of the quality control board, the vice director of STKIP MNC, The lecturers, the academic staff, and the students of STKIP MNC. The study utilized several instruments to gather the data; document analysis, observational checklist, questionnaire, and interview. The result of the study showed that in the context phase, the program was held based on a clear base: the Minister of Education and Culture letter No. 1 of 2020. In the input process. Moodle Learning Management system was the main component of delivering online learning. In the process stage, The Obstacles were internet networks and inadequate student-owned facilities, which are significant hurdles to the program's implementation. Moreover, the last phase, product evaluation, the use of LMS in online learning, eased the measurement of student participation in the program. However, the problems that appeared in the process evaluation must be the base of analysis in the future to ensure the sustainability of the hybrid learning program.

Abstract

Modern language education demands assessments that not only measure linguistic abilities, but also cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects in a holistic manner. With the advancement of educational technology, technology-based assessment offers the potential to integrate knowledge, attitudes, and skills into a more comprehensive evaluation framework. This paper employs a literature review method to analyze recent developments in the application of formative and summative assessments in language education, with a focus on the holistic integration of these three domains. The results of the literature review indicate that although many studies have discussed the use of technology in assessment, few address the holistic measurement of attitudes and skills alongside knowledge. This research contributes new insights by proposing a technology-based holistic evaluation model that can be applied within language learning contexts.

Abstract

Assessment systems across countries often face challenges in balancing the functions of selection and learning. Examinations often focus on measuring learning outcomes without considering the accompanying pedagogical and social impacts. This study aims to critically analyze and compare the assessment systems implemented by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) in India and the National Education Examinations Authority (NEEA)/Gaokao. This study uses a qualitative, comparative document analysis design to provide an in-depth understanding of the characteristics, principles, and implications of both institutions' assessment systems. The research subjects consisted of 32 official documents. Data were collected through documentation studies and in-depth interviews. The instrument was a validity analysis sheet containing four main components: content relevance, indicator clarity, source consistency, and theoretical relevance. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and analytically using thematic categorization techniques based on four main dimensions: assessment instrument development, system validity and reliability, impact on learning, and institutional credential recognition. The results show that the CISCE excels in curriculum flexibility, integration of formative assessment, and recognition of international credentials. In contrast, the Gaokao excels in mass selection efficiency and national standard consistency. This study concludes that an effective assessment system must balance selection and student potential development to avoid excessive academic pressure. The implications of this research emphasize the importance of developing a national assessment system that is equitable, relevant, and oriented toward lifelong learning

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid digital technological advancement, approaches to linguistic research have undergone significant transformation. One increasingly popular approach is corpus linguistics, which utilizes digital language data to analyze real and contextual language use. To introduce this method to international students, an International Community Service (P2M) program was held in the form of a training session themed "Using Corpus Tools for Linguistics Research." Conducted twice in June 2025, the program featured interactive sessions using corpus tools such as COCA (Corpus of Contemporary American English) and collaborative practice activities like the "Word Frequency Hunt." Participants actively engaged in linguistic data exploration through frequency analysis, collocation, and cross-genre language usage. Survey results indicated that 95% of participants felt motivated to apply corpus linguistics in their studies. This activity is expected to mark the beginning of ongoing international academic collaboration and open opportunities for future face-to-face implementation.

Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates how English language lecturers construct the meaning of professionalism through their assessment practices in higher education. Amid growing emphasis on standardized and technology-based evaluation systems, the role of assessment as a site of ethical decision-making and pedagogical reflection remains underexplored. Drawing from a descriptive qualitative design with an interpretive paradigm, the study involved in-depth interviews with five English lecturers from two universities in Indonesia, supported by documentation analysis and thematic coding. The findings reveal that assessment functions not only as a technical procedure but also as a medium through which lecturers express values such as fairness, empathy, and integrity. These values are negotiated within the tensions between institutional policy and personal ethical convictions. The study highlights how lecturers engage in ongoing reflection, balance objectivity with contextual judgment, and navigate evaluative dilemmas to sustain their professional identity. Assessment is thus understood as a dynamic and dialogical process that contributes to the construction of a humanistic and ethically grounded professionalism. This research contributes to the growing discourse on reflective assessment and provides implications for policy development, professional development programs, and institutional support mechanisms that promote meaningful and context-sensitive evaluation practices.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to develop English speaking material based on students’ needs. This study followed the steps of research and development proposed by Borg and Gall. Which are 1) evaluation and need analysis; 2) material development; 3) validation; 4) revision and final production. It was found that 83% students agreed that the existing materials currently used by the students were irrelevant with business and management program. The irrelevance materials were then developed through CTL approach and relevant with their study program and work life situation. The learning materials were developed into 6 units of speaking material. The learning materials were then validated by two experts. The average score of the validation was 88, It showed that learning materials were very good, relevant and feasible.

Abstract

This study explores the effect of using Virtual Reality (VR) technology in improving pronunciation and fluency in learning English as a foreign language (EFL). By offering an immersive and interactive learning environment, VR allows learners to practice speaking skills in situations that mimic real-world conversations, potentially reducing anxiety and increasing confidence. This study identifies the role of VR in facilitating repeated exposure to accurate pronunciation models and assisting in developing speaking fluency through interactive simulation. The study's results indicate that using VR proves effective med primarily by providing action in a non-stressful environment. However, although VR shows positive results, its effectiveness in the long term and in a more realistic classroom context still requires further research. Also, it highlights the need for more in-depth studies on the comparison between training using VR and traditional methods, as well as the influence of individual factors such as anxiety and previous pronunciation training on learning outcomes.
