Abstract

Jamu is a traditional medicine that contains ingredients or ingredients derived from plants, animals, minerals, or mixtures of these ingredients that have been hereditary for medicinal use. However, some industry players add Medicinal Chemicals (BKO) such as mefenamic acid into herbal medicine. This study aims to determine the validity of the method in the analysis of mefenamic acid by UV-Vis spectrophotometry on herbs circulating in several markets in Kendari City. The sampling technique used in this study is purposive sampling method so that it gets 5 herbal samples. The study began with method validation to ensure the accuracy of the method in determining the level of mefenamic acid in the sample. The results of the method validation show that this method is good for detecting the presence of mefenamic acid BKO in herbal medicine with a validation parameter value that is the correlation value (r) of 0.998; detection limit (LOD) 0.48 µg / mL; limit of quantification (LOQ) 1.63 µg / mL; intraday and interday precision expressed with the value of relative standard deviation% respectively 0.014% and 0.013%; and the accuracy stated in% recovery is 95.41% (80%), 99.04% (100%), and 102.5% (120%). The results of the analysis of the sample using a validated method showed that there were herbs with mefenamic acid BKO content of 0.8%.

Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis is a communicable disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis bacteria that mostly attack lungs, yet they also possibly attack other organs. The use of tuberculosis drug oftentimes leads to side effects on the patients. This research intends to determine the side effects of anti-tuberculosis drugs of tuberculosis patients. It employed a cross-sectional approach, in which the data were collected from questionnaires. As many as 50 patients were selected as the sample using purposive sampling, i.e., a sampling technique based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results indicate that the majority of the patients suffering from tuberculosis are men (27 people, 54%), aged 16-27 years (30%), graduating from elementary school (60%), with another job (farmer, 76%).  In addition, the frequently-occurring side effects include red urine (22%), nausea (18%), being limp (14%), vomit (12%), joint pain and itch (8%), and loss of appetite (2%).

Abstract

Potensi Kelapa di Desa Didingga sangat berlimpah, untuk pengelolaannya saat ini belum menjadi perhatian masyarakat dalam pemanfaatan Kelapa, saat ini masih kurang Produktif, karena hasil kelapa yang sangat banyak maka perlu adanya teknologi dalam pengembangan kelapa menjadi minyak balur serta produk farmasi dan kosmetik. Untuk dapat meningkatkan nilai jual kelapa minyak balur dimasa pandemic covid 19 perlu adanya teknologi pengembangan kelapa minyak balur dan dilakukan penganekaragaman pengelohan produk yang bernilai tinggi,misalnya minyak gosok, aromaterapi dan bedak lulur. selain itu produk tersebut diedarkan keswalayan, Toko dan Apotik di Kota dan kabupaten Gorontalo Utara. Produk-produk tersebut sangat bermanfaat bagi masyarakat contonya  Minyak Balur untuk pengelinu, patah tulang dan antiseranga, Aromaterapi khasiatnya untuk masuk angin, Bedak Lulur untuk perawatan kulit dan kosmetik lainya . Permasalahan berantai yang sangat menganjal adalah keterbatasan teknologi yang bisa diakses dalam hal teknologi pembuatan alat pembuatan minyak balur dan penampungannya, alat dan bahan dalam pembuatan produk kelapa serta pengemasan. Ini semua sangat mempengaruhi ekonomi lokal masyarakat. Aspek inilah yang menjadi permasalahan mendasar oleh kelompok masyarakat tentang teknologi pengembangan dan peningkatan potensi ekonomi lokal dalam hal mengembangkan Kelapa Bentuk program yang akan dilaksanakan oleh peserta KKN Tematik adalah program melestarikan desa Didingga, program pengolahan produk, program pengemasan, serta program pemasaran, program tersebut akan didistribusikan mahasiswa sesuai kebutuhan. Metode yang digunakan dalam melakukan pemberdayaan pendampingan kelompok sasaran adalah teknik pembelajaran kelompok disertai praktek yang akan nantinya bersinergi untuk mengembangkan produk farmasi dan kosmetik yang sudah terkemas dengan baik sesuai standart mutu dan kesukaan masyarakat nanti sehingga dihasilkan produk yang berkualitas dan memiliki daya saing serta pemasaran secara aktif untuk memperkenalkan lebih luas kemasyarakat dan didapatkan potensi pangsa pasar secara berkelanjutan pada program kelompok Petani dan PKK nantinya.

Abstract

Traditional medicines are ingredients in the form of plant ingredients, animal ingredients, mineral substances, galenic, or mixtures of these ingredients that have been used for treatment from generation to generation and can be applied in accordance with the prevailing norms in society. One type of traditional medicine that is currently consumed by many people is herbal medicine. Jamu (empirical based herbal medicine) is a traditional medicine that is provided traditionally which contains all the plant ingredients that make up the herbal medicine which is hygienic (free of contamination) and is used traditionally. The research objective was to determine the presence of the chemical ingredient of dexamethasone drug in jamu for rheumatic and also to quantitatively determine the dexamethasone level in jamu for rheumatic by using uv-vis spectrophotometry. The results showed that all five jamu for rheumatic samples contained the chemical ingredient of dexamethasone drug with levels of each sample, namely jamu A 99,83 mg, jamu B 34,71 mg, jamu C 363,13 mg, jamu D 9,979 mg, and jamu E 778,97 mg

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is defined as a disease or metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose levels. The management of diabetes mellitus therapy in the community is diverse, ranging from synthetic drugs to herbal medicines. Many people assume that herbal medicines are relatively cheaper and safer compared to synthetic drugs. One of the plants commonly used as herbal medicine is Lamtoro. This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of Lamtoro leaves (LeucaenaleucocephalaL) on decreasing blood glucose levels on lab mice (Mus musculus L). This study used 27 male house mice divided into nine groups; each group consisted of three male house mice, i.e., glucose control (group I), negative control Na-CMC 1% w/v (group II), Positive control of chlamyd Gliben 1.56% w/v (group III), administered N-Hexan extract of Lamtoro leave 1% w/v (group IV), the extract of N-Heksan Lamtoro leaf 2.5% w/v (group V),  the extract of N-Heksan Lamtoro leaf 5% w/v (group VI), ethanol extract of Lamtoro leaf 1% w/v (group VII), ethanol extract of Lamtoro leaf 2.5% b/v (group VIII), and ethanol extract of Lamtoro leaves 5% w/v (group IX). The results were analyzed using the One Way ANOVA test. It showed that N-Hexane and Ethanol extract of Lamtoro leaves with a concentration of 1% w/v, 2.5% w/v and 5% w/v was able to reduce the blood glucose levels. The extract which had the best activity in reducing blood glucose levels was found in ethanol extract 96% at a concentration of 5% w/v with a decrease in the percentage by 59%. This was because the 96% ethanol extract contained a number of secondary metabolite compounds, i.e., flavonoids, alkaloids and tannins as blood glucose levels reducer

Abstract

Hypertension is a disease that happens when the systolic and diastolic blood pressure is higher than 140/90 mmHg. This study aimed to identify the use of an anti-hypertension drug on outpatients at Kota Timur Community Health Center in Gorontalo, with medical records of hypertension patients from January to June 2021 as the data source. Employing the univariate analysis method, this study obtained patients' data to be recapitulated into the primary table to be descriptively analyzed. The findings in gender frequency revealed that 36 male respondents attained 53.3% of percentage and 81 female respondents attained 46.6% of percentage, while the respondent age frequency that is mostly 46-65 years old numbered 83 patients (71%), 26-45 years old numbered 22 patients (18.80%), and 65 years old numbered 12 patients (10.25%). Based on drug use from January to June 2021, the most consumed drug is Amlodipine, with 70 consumption (60%). Further, based on diseases in other categories from January to June 2021, the highest diagnosis on hypertension patients is 71 times of hypertension (60%), while the systolic and diastolic pressure category from January to June 2021 revealed that the highest blood pressure of the stage 1hypertension patients is 63 times (54%).

Abstract

Antidiabetic is a compound that has a vital role in treating diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that is characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels. The use of traditional medicine is relatively cheaper and safer compared to synthetic drugs. One of the plants that is often used in traditional herbal medicine is ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) because it contains a secondary metabolite compound that acts as an antidiabetic. Thus, this present study aimed to determine the n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol extracts that had antidiabetic efficacy on blood sugar levels and compound group that acts as antidiabetic. The research employed mehods of multiple maceration, phytochemical screening, thin layer chromatography, and antidiabetic test, while the most effective antidiabetic efficacy was then continued to the fractionation stage using vacuum liquid chromatography and gravity column chromatography. Furthermore, the preparative thin layer chromatography (PTLC) analysi, UV-Vis zspectrometry and FTIR were carried out. The research findings revealed that the maximum wavelength of active fraction in ketapang (Terminalia catappa L.) leaves was 410.50 nm, and FTIR spectrum had functional groups of O-H (hydroxyl) C=O (carbonyl Co (aliphatic), C-O (ether) and CH3. Based on the finding, it could be concluded, that antidiabetic compound that plays a role in active fraction of ketapang (Terminalia Cappy L.) leaves was a flavonoid compound.

Abstract

Andong (Cordyline fructicosa (L) A. Chev) is used as traditional medicine, the use of this traditional medicine is related to the content of secondary metabolites contained in the andong plant. Empirically people use this plant as an antioxidant, the compound that acts as an antoixidant is related to antiinflamasi. The purpose of this study was to isolate secondary metabolites from the extracts of N-Hexane, Ethyl Acetate, and Methanol from Andong (Cordyline fructicosa (L) A. Chev) leaves and to determine the anti-inflamatory effect of the isolated secondary metabolites of Andong (Cordyline fructicosa (L) A. Chev) leaves through in vitro with red blood cell stabilization method. Several methods are used in the isolation of these compounds, namely extraction, identification of compound, fractionation of KCV and KKG, KLT,KLTP, and characterizationof compounds using UV-VIS spectrophotometry and FTIR. The results of UV-VIS characterization show a maximum wavelength of 434 nm, and the results of  FTIR characterization indicate the presence of a functional groups namely O-H (Hidroxyl) at a wave number of 3448,72 cm-1, C-H (Aliphatic) at a wave number of 2954,95 cm-1, 2920,23 cm-1, and 2852,72 cm-1, aliphatic compounds are supported by the presence of CH2 and CH3 at wave number of 1463,97 cm-1 and 1379,10 cm-1, C=O (conjugated carbonyl) at wave number of 1721,79 cm-1, C=C at wave number of 1633,71 cm-1, C-O at wave number of 1294,24 cm-1. So it is very likely that the compounds in Andong leaves isolate are flavonoid compounds. Furthermore, the activity of results of the isolation is tested where the isolate whit a concentration of 100 ppm signifies the highest anti-inflamatory activity, with the ability to stabilize red blood cell membranes of 80,142 %.

Abstract

Kondisi di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa selama ini pemanfaatan dan pengelolaan tanaman atau tumbuhan rimpang-rimpangan yang berada di taman-taman sekitar rumah belum maksimal. Oleh karena itu diperlukan adanya berbagai program yang dapat dilakukan dalam rangka peningkatan kesejahteraan keluarga dengan peningkatan kesejahteraan ekonomi keluarga, khususnya di bidang pangan adalah program penanaman dan pemanfaatan Tanaman Obat Keluarga (TOGA). Metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah dan praktik atau demonstrasi. Dalam pelaksanaannya disampaikan metode pengolahan tanaman TOGA. Disamping itu juga bagaimana cara mengelola keuangan hasil penjualan hasil pengelohan tanaman TOGA tersebut. Bagaimana strategi pemasarannya kepada masyarakat atau konsumen yang membutuhkan sehingga bisa menghasilkan keuntungan.

Abstract

Anemia   pada   ibu   hamil   berdampak   buruk   bagi   ibu   maupun   janin. Kemungkinan dampak buruk  terhadap ibu hamil yaitu proses persalinan yang membutuhkan waktu lama dan mengakibatkan perdarahan serta syok akibat kontraksi. Dampak buruk pada janin yaitu terjadinya    prematur, bayi lahir berat  badan rendah, kecacatan bahkan kematian bayi. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk  menghasilkan  produk  inovasi  yang  dapat  membantu  mengatasi  masalah anemia pada ibu hamil berupa pembuatan keripik bayam sehat. Pembuatan keripik bayam ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan minat ibu hamil dalam mengkonsumsi sayuran yang kaya gizi dan dapat mencegah anemia disaat hamil. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan agar dapat mencegah kejadian anemia pada ibu hamil pada umumnya dan mencegah stunting pada anak pada khususnya. Pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan cara memberikan edukasi langsung mengenai pentingnya menghindari anemia disaat hamil pada ibu di saat posyandu ibu hamil dan membagikan keripik bayam sehat pada ibu hamil yang hadir. Pemberian edukasi dan pembagian keripik bayam pada masyarakat desa Bongohulawa khususnya ibu hamil mendapatkan respon yang baik karena sebagian besar masyarakat memiliki atensi yang tinggi melalui pertanyaan dan sangat menyukai produk olahan keripik bayam. Pengabdian ini memberikan manfaat yang besar bagi masyarakat desa agar mendapatkan pengetahuan mengenai manfaaat menghindari keadaan anemia disaat hamil dan memberikan informasi terkait produk olahan keripik bayam sehat.
