Abstract

This study aims to determine the conditions of the seagrass beds ecosystem, the physical and chemical conditions, that can be database in the waters of Sadai Village, South Bangka Regency. This research was conducted in July 2019. The data analyzed included: Seagrass cover, seagrass density, seagrass frequency, and Importance Value Index (IVI). The value of seagrass stands in Sadai Village waters is relatively rare. Based on the results obtained, Enhalus acoroides is a type of seagrass that has the ability to adapt well to various water conditions so that it is fairly evenly distributed in the five observation stations. The total percentage of total cover in Sadai Village waters ranges from 5.66% -27.37%. It is known that the highest INP value was also found in the Halodule uninervis seagrass species. Thus, it means that the Halodule uninervis seagrass in Sadai waters has an important meaning as a key species related to the condition of the seagrass community in Sadai Village waters. The seagrass ecosystem in Sadai Village waters is used by local residents as a place to find fish, snails and shellfish. Excessive human activity on the land above can increase the sediment load on water bodies which will result in high turbidity which has the potential to reduce light penetration. This can cause disruption to the primary productivity of the seagrass ecosystem because seagrass requires high light intensity for photosynthesis.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the level of feed consumption, weight gain of cattle, and to calculate the population of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) and pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli and Salmonella in cattle feces in order to determine the effect of giving probiotics on the digestive system of cattle. The research object used was 10 bali cattle with a weight of about 90-120 kg. The data in this study were analyzed by experimental design using analysis of variance to determine the effect of giving probiotics to cattle feed on cattle weight gain. The treatment in question includes G0 with treatment in the form of feeding with a composition of 60% forage, 15% palm cake, 25% cassava, and 100 ml molasses. Meanwhile, G1 was treated with the same feed as G0, but added with 100 ml of probiotic Probio_FM. Based on the results of the study, it is known that probiotics given to cattle feed showed no significant effect on the level of feed consumption and body weight of cattle where cattle with non-probiotic feed had a higher average consumption level than cattle on probiotic feed. Furthermore, this causeed the average weight gain of non-probiotic cattle to be higher than that of probiotic cattle. In addition, it was known that the population of Lactic Acid Bacteria in the feces of probiotic cattle showed a higher number of LAB colonies compared to non-probiotic cattle with numeric values of 3.6x108, 3.3x109, and 2.7x1010. This proved that giving probiotics to bali cattle with a concentration of 100 ml / 100 kg of feed was able to increase the concentration of lactic acid bacteria in the digestive system.

Abstract

Bycatch has the added value of being processed into meals for animal feed or fish farming needs. Therefore, this study aims to determine the nutritional content of local fish meals from the bycatch in Batu Beriga Village, Bangka Belitung. The method used for processing fish meal was a wet mill from bycatch. Quality parameters referred to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 01-2715-1996/Rev.92 regarding fish meal as raw material for feed. The results showed that 4 kg of wet fish could produce a meal of 0.4 kg. The nutritional content of the local fish meal is of high quality as it met the requirements of SNI Quality I, II, and III, allowing it to be released to the market. The laboratory tests showed water, ash, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber, calcium, phosphorus, NaCl, Gross energy, Carbohydrate, and pH content of 5.06% (SNI Quality I maximum 10%), 18.51% (SNI Quality I maximum 20%), 68.13% (SNI Quality I minimum 1.5%), 5.71% (SNI Quality I maximum 20%), 1.54% (SNI Quality I maximum 8%), 4.09% (SNI Quality I range 2.5-5.0%), 6.82% (SNI Quality I range 1.6-3.2%), 1.78% (SNI Quality I maximum 2%), 4,609.67 Kcal/kg, 0.0%, and 6, respectively. Furthermore, amino acids from a local fish meal could be used as feed mixtures for aquaculture. Bycatch can be used to fish meals as a potential side business for fishers. In sustainable fisheries development, independence in animal feed should be established immediately, hence the dependence on other regions can be minimized.
