Abstract

In the current digital era, the implementation of blended online learning faces challenges in understanding students' perceptions and its impact on learning outcomes, particularly in Abstract Algebra. This issue is crucial to investigate, as the shift in teaching methods can influence the comprehension of complex algebraic concepts. This research aims to investigate students' perceptions and learning outcomes in abstract algebra courses of blended and asynchronous online learning. The research method used was quasi-experiment. The subject of 27 students is available without being randomly selected. Research instruments using questionnaires and tests. The test consists of eight essay questions. The questionnaire includes 27 closed-ended questions and six open-ended questions. The results showed that students perceived Abstract Algebra subjects as difficult or very difficult. Most students needed help to study the module due to material difficulty thoroughly. In addition, asynchronous online learning is ineffective compared to blended online learning. All students wanted the tutorial asynchronous and synchronous combined (blended online learning). Most students carry out online learning at home using a smartphone device. Students who use blended online learning obtain significantly higher learning outcomes than students who only take it asynchronously.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out whether there is a difference in increasing the creative thinking abilities and learning independence of control and experimental class students in class IV of SD N 32 Tanjuang Bonai. This type of research is experimental research. The population in this study were all fourth grade students at SD N 32 Tanjuang Bonai which consisted of two classes. The samples in this research were class IV A and class IV B. The instruments used in this research were test sheets and questionnaires. Hypothesis testing is carried out using the t-test. Based on the results of data analysis, there is a significant difference between the thinking abilities of students in the experimental class and the control class which applies differentiated learning. The average N-Gain gain score for the experimental class was 0.72 and the control class was 0.46. Meanwhile, regarding the relationship between differentiated learning and student learning independence, the t-count in the t-table is 0.758 < 2.069, so rejecting Ha and accepting H0, it can be concluded that differentiated learning has no effect on student learning independence.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of Think Pair Share (TPS) type cooperative learning model and mathematical disposition on students' metacognitive skills in solving mathematical problems on the material of counting operations of small numbers. Using a 2x2 factorial experimental design, this study involved 48 fourth grade elementary school students in Padang City. The results of the two-way analysis of variance showed: (1) there was a significant difference in metacognitive skills between students taught using TPS and expository models (F(1, 44) = 25.432, *p* < 0.001, η² = 0.366); (2) there was no significant interaction between learning model and mathematical disposition (F(1, 44) = 0.021, *p* = 0. 886); (3) in the high mathematical disposition group, students taught with the TPS model showed better metacognitive skills compared to the expository model (*t*(22) = 7.12, *p* < 0.001, *d* = 2. 93); (4) in the low mathematical disposition group, students taught with the TPS model also showed better metacognitive skills compared to the expository model (*t*(22) = 4.23, *p* < 0.001, *d* = 1.66). These findings indicate that the TPS learning model is effective in improving students' metacognitive skills, both for students with high and low mathematical disposition.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach assisted by Wordwall media on the mathematical problem-solving abilities of fifth-grade elementary school students, viewed from the perspective of learning styles. The research employed a quasi-experimental method with a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design involving two classes: an experimental class that received RME-based instruction using Wordwall, and a control class that received conventional instruction. Data were collected through tests, classroom observation, and learning style questionnaires, and analyzed using t-tests, two-way ANOVA, and post hoc follow-up tests. The results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups, with the RME approach using Wordwall being more effective in enhancing students' problem-solving skills. Moreover, learning styles were found to significantly influence learning outcomes; however, no significant interaction was identified between the learning approach and learning style. The post hoc test results revealed that students with visual and auditory learning styles scored higher than those with kinesthetic styles. The RME approach supported by Wordwall media is recommended as an inclusive and adaptive instructional strategy that accommodates diverse student learning styles.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of differentiated instruction on students' mathematical reasoning abilities at SMK Negeri 1 Tolitoli. The background of the study lies in the low level of students’ mathematical reasoning skills, which is attributed to uniform teaching methods that overlook students' varying characteristics. A quasi-experimental method was employed using a Non-random Pre-test Post-test Control Group design. The sample consisted of two classes from the Accounting and Financial Institution program and two classes from the Computer and Network Engineering program, each divided into experimental and control groups. Research instruments included mathematical reasoning tests and observation sheets. Statistical analysis revealed that differentiated instruction had a significant positive effect on students’ mathematical reasoning abilities compared to conventional teaching approaches. The independent sample t-test indicated significant differences in post-test scores between the experimental and control groups in both vocational programs. These findings suggest that differentiated instruction is effective in enhancing mathematical reasoning skills among vocational school students and can serve as an adaptive and contextual teaching strategy.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the interaction between learning factors (CORE and conventional) and the initial mathematical skills factor (KAM) to increase mathematical critical thinking skills (KBKM) of students. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental with the non-equivalent group pretest-post design. The data analysis used was two-way ANAVA test. The results of the study are (1) There is no interaction between learning factors with KAM factors (2) the improvement students’ mathematical critical thinking skills in the CORE (connecting, organizing, reflecting, extending). learning group is higher than the conventional learning group for each KAM group (3) In both learning groups, the improvement of the students’ mathematical critical thinking skills in the upper KAM level is higher than the middle and lower KAM level and the improvement in the middle KAM level is higher than the lower KAM level.

Abstract

Background: Problem-solving ability and mathematical disposition are essential skills in mathematics education, particularly in developing critical thinking and practical application among students. Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) have been introduced as an instructional approach aimed at enhancing these skills by integrating real-world problems into learning. However, the effectiveness of MEAs in establishing a significant relationship between problem-solving ability and mathematical disposition remains unclear, necessitating further investigation.Aim: This study aims to analyze the association between problem-solving ability and mathematical disposition after implementing Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) in instruction.Method: This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 30 fifth-grade students from SDN 02 Bojongsari, Depok, Indonesia, as participants. Data were collected using a problem-solving ability test and a mathematical disposition questionnaire. Subsequently, the data analysis was carried out using chi-square tests.Result: The results of the study showed that the χ2 value of 0.731 is less than α = 0.947, indicating that there is no significant relationship between mathematical problem-solving ability and mathematical disposition. Conclusion: The study concluded that no association was found between problem-solving ability and mathematical disposition among elementary school students after implementing MEAs in instruction. Additionally, although there is a tendency for students with a high mathematical disposition to demonstrate stronger problem-solving skills, this correlation is not strong enough to be considered significant
