Abstract

Heart disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Adequate physical activity is an important factor in the management of heart disease, but accurately monitoring physical activity can be challenging. The use of wearable sensors offers a potential solution to measure and analyze physical activity patterns more precisely. This study aims to analyze physical activity patterns using wearable sensors in the management of heart disease. As well as to find out whether physical activity using wearable sensors can overcome heart disease. This research method uses a method with a quantitative approach. This study involves participants who suffer from heart disease and use wearable sensors to record their physical activity over a period of time. The physical activity data, including the number of steps, activity intensity, and activity duration, were analyzed using statistical methods and signal processing algorithms to identify activity patterns related to heart conditions. The results of the analysis showed different physical activity patterns between individuals with heart disease and healthy individuals. Individuals with heart disease tend to have lower levels of physical activity and less regular activity patterns. In addition, certain activity patterns, such as long periods of low-intensity activity, are associated with a higher risk for cardiac complications. The implementation of this research is that wearable sensors can be an effective tool in the management of heart disease by enabling accurate monitoring of an individual's physical activity. By analyzing physical activity patterns, we can better understand the relationship between physical activity and heart conditions, allowing for the development of more precise and personalized interventions in the management of heart disease.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) disease requires long-term treatment so some patients experience difficulty in compliance with the nursing care plan. Family support for family members who experience DM is also still very low (45,8%) in providing care. Complications in DM patients can worsen the patient's health condition and even experience amputation due to circulation problems making it difficult for wounds to heal. Objectives: To analyze the correlation between family support and wound healing in DM patients. Methods: The quantitative research approach was designed with a cross-sectional study. The sample used was non-probability sampling with an accidental technique of 34 DM patients at the Istiqamah Wound Care Clinic, Aceh Besar Regency. Family support data was collected using interviews, while wound healing data used observation. The collected data in September 2023 were analyzed using the pearson correlation coefficient test with α=0,05.Results: Almost 70,0% of patients received high emotional support from the family and 50,0% of the DM wound healing was in the wound regeneration category. The correlation coefficient test (r) revealed that emotional support (r=0,669), instrumental support (r=0,874), informational support (r=0,480), and assessment support (r=0,377). Family support has a significant positive correlation with wound healing in DM patients (p<0,05). The higher the support provided by the family during treatment, the faster the wound healing process in DM patients. Conclusion: Family support, especially instrumental support, is needed in healing wounds in DM patients, so that the health of DM patients can be achieved optimally.

Abstract

Grade II Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in children often leads to symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, appetite loss, extended hospital stay, and delayed recovery. Proper nutrition is essential for managing these symptoms and supporting recovery. Mothers play a critical role in fulfilling their children’s nutritional needs. This study explored the role of mothers in meeting the nutritional needs of children with Grade II DHF in the Pediatric Ward at Meuraxa Hospital Banda Aceh municipality. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected from three mothers whose children were treated for two weeks, from admission to discharge, during the study period in August 2021. Data were gathered through interviews, observations, and medical records and then analyzed through thematic content analysis focusing on education, caregiving, and nurturing. The results showed that, while mothers followed hospital feeding schedules, they faced difficulties in encouraging their children to eat because of their low appetite. They fostered a supportive environment using storytelling and praise but avoided discussing meal nutrition, assuming that their children were too young to understand. In conclusion, mothers demonstrated strong caregiving. Challenges include limited nutritional knowledge and difficulty in making the food appealing. Enhancing maternal knowledge and feeding strategies can support faster recovery of children with DHF.

Abstract

Mental health remains a global health challenge with significant impact. Mothers of stunted toddlers often experience psychosocial pressures that can negatively affect their mental well-being. In the working area of the Lampisang Community Health Center, cases of both stunting and mental health disorders remain prevalent. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with the mental health of mothers with stunted toddlers in this region. A quantitative research approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study was conducted from July 26 to August 1, 2024. The target population consisted of 725 mothers with toddlers. A proportional random sampling technique was used to select a total of 439 respondents. Inclusion criteria included mothers who had toddlers, lived within the Lampisang Community Health Center’s service area, and were willing to participate in the study. The exclusion criterion was mothers who were not present at the time of data collection. Logistic regression analysis was used to test the research hypothesis. The results showed that the most dominant factors associated with abnormal maternal mental health were the lack of support from husbands (OR = 72.94; CI = 23.78–223.71; p = 0.0001) and the incidence of stunting in toddlers (OR = 59.64; CI = 9.86–360.61; p = 0.0001). These findings indicate that lack of husband’s support and the presence of stunting in toddlers are the most significant contributors to mental health problems among mothers.
