Abstract

ABSTRACTWaste management needs special attention from both the government and the public, primarily associated with the waste processing technology. The more limited land for Final Processing Places (FPP) will need a development of alternative technology. There are four alternative technologies offered in this study incineration, sanitary landfill, composting and recycling. The objectives of this research were to analyze the opinions of the stakeholders on the priority scale of waste processing technology implemented in Kupang, estimating the value of Willingness to Pay (WTP) for public service improvement of waste management in Kupang and to analyze the factors affecting the public's willingness to pay for each alternative waste treatment technology. The method used applied in this research is Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with 28 respondents and contingent valuation method to determine the value of WTP with a total of 100 households. The result of AHP analysis showed that the priority waste treatment technology for waste management activities in Kupang is composting. The value of WTP for the improvement of the public waste management services in Kupang with each alternative waste treatment technologies per month per household are i.e. incinerator Rp. 16,309,45,-; composting Rp. 13,638.45,-; sanitary landfill Rp. 12,311.93,-; and recycling Rp. 13,188.07,-. In addition the factors affecting the public's willingness to pay are for the incineration technology, composting and recycling, the factors that influence WTP are the level of income and ability to pay. In terms of sanitary landfill technology there is no significant factor that affects the WTP.

Abstract

The cause of the low productivity of mung beans is partly due to the inefficient use of production factors, which will theoretically affect the profit level of farming. This study specifically aims to analyze the allocation of the use of production inputs and to analyze the profit function of mung bean farming. Data collection used a survey method by interviewing 52 farmers in Central Malaka District, Malaka District, East Nusa Tenggara. Data analysis used a quantitative descriptive method, through the analysis of farm costs, and analysis of the Cobb-Douglass Unit Output Price profit function. The results showed that mung bean farming was profitable with a profit rate of around 7.66 million rupiah per hectare. The allocation of farming inputs that significantly affect production are land area, seeds, and pesticides, with coefficient values of 0.96, 0.56 and -0.49, respectively. Meanwhile, variable inputs that significantly affect profits are fertilizer prices, pesticide prices, and labor costs, with coefficient values of -0.43, 0.43, and -0.75, respectively. These results inform several aspects: (a) increasing the area of land and seeds increases production, conversely increasing the use of pesticides can reduce production and therefore it is necessary to adjust the correct dosage, (b) the use of fertilizers is not significant to production caused by the application dose is too low, ( c) the use of labor is not significant to production and its addition reduces profits, so it needs to be more efficient in its use by prioritizing the quality of the workforce.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the ability of farmers in applying the methods or techniques of kangkung cultivation and the priority issues faced by kangkong farmers. Kupang Regency was chosen as a research site because there were kangkong farmers working with markets. This research used a case research method, and the type of data collected consists of primary data and secondary data, the data collection starts from December to January 2021, the data analysis uses Likert scaling analysis. The measured variables were problems related to aspects of kangkong cultivation. The results showed that the cultivation of kangkong (Ipomea reptans poir) at the research site was not done well, as it was still being grown seasonally and using only farmland. So it really needs agricultural extension when applying these 7 aspects. The eradication of pests and diseases was a priority problem for farmers in organic Kangkung vegetable cultivation in Baumata Timur Village, Taebenu District, Kupang Regency, where the mean level of interest was above the All Mean value (2.56 > 2.48) and the average ability level was lower than the overall average skill level (2.36 < 2.4).

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the increase and the decrease in the income of traders in the Noemuti Traditional Market. Data collection was carried out using an interactive model analysis survey method. The results of the study show that Noemuti Traditional Market has little possibility of increasing the income of market traders due to three factors: unstable prices, substandard facilities and infrastructure, and unorganized market organization. The amount of income every week or month fluctuated because of the uncertainty or no buyers who shopped at the Noemuti Traditional Market. Thus, the income factors that influence the income of traders in the Noemuti Traditional Market are location, environment, communication, consumers, trader characteristics, and types of merchandise. Suggestions for future researchers are to focus more on the level of income of each trader and provide solutions for traders to overcome all existing deficiencies.
