Abstract

This systematic literature review examines how differentiated instruction, physical fitness, and learning motivation independently and interactively influence learning outcomes in physical education (PE). Drawing on peer-reviewed national and international studies published between 2018 and 2025, the review synthesizes evidence related to pedagogical practices, students’ physical readiness, and motivational processes in school-based PE. The findings indicate that differentiated instruction consistently enhances engagement and learning readiness, although its direct effects on psychomotor outcomes, particularly at the secondary level, remain limited. Physical fitness shows a stable association with motor performance and participation, while autonomous motivation supports sustained effort and persistence. However, most studies examine these factors in isolation, offering limited insight into their combined effects. This review highlights a clear gap in integrative research and underscores the need for comprehensive instructional models that align pedagogical, physiological, and motivational dimensions to improve PE learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study examined the changes in technical skills of 15 PPLP sepak takraw athletes over a three-month structured training period, focusing on ball juggling, service, smash, and setting. Using a one-group repeated measures design, athletes’ performances were assessed under standardized conditions in March and June. Results showed significant improvement in ball juggling (mean increase = 43.6 points, F = 61.62, p < .001, η² = 0.81) and smash (mean increase = 5.2 points, F = 9.73, p < .05, η² = 0.66), indicating effective adaptation of coordination and offensive skills. In contrast, service and setting declined significantly, with setting showing the largest decrease (mean = −57 points, F = 29.92, p < .01, η² = 0.91), suggesting insufficient emphasis on precision and tactical drills. Findings highlight the need for balanced training programs integrating coordination, strength, accuracy, and tactical practice. Limitations include small and unequal sample sizes for some skills, and the absence of a control group. Future studies should incorporate control groups and longer-term monitoring to better inform evidence-based training strategies.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and evaluate a deep learning-based Physical Education, Sports, and Health learning module to improve football learning outcomes among fifth-grade elementary school students at SDN 22 V Koto Kampung Dalam. This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the Borg and Gall development model, including stages of needs analysis, data collection, product design, expert validation, product revision, product testing, and final revision. The developed module was validated by material and language experts and tested using pre-test and post-test assessments in experimental and control groups. The findings showed that the module achieved high validity scores, including 88% from the material expert and 83% from the language expert, categorized as highly feasible. Teacher responses reached 91%, indicating excellent practicality. The effectiveness test demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ football learning outcomes, with tcount > ttable (4.06 > 1.833). Therefore, the developed deep learning-based module was proven valid, practical, and effective for improving elementary students’ football learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the contribution of intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and motor ability toward practical learning outcomes in Physical Education, Sports, and Health among upper-grade elementary school students. This study employed a quantitative associative design involving 53 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using motivation questionnaires, standardized motor ability tests, and documentation of practical learning outcomes. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, and simple as well as multiple regression analyses using Jamovi 2.6.44. The findings indicated that intrinsic motivation contributed significantly to learning outcomes (R² = 0.383; p < 0.001), while extrinsic motivation contributed 0.375 (p < 0.001). Motor ability showed the strongest contribution with an R² value of 0.420 (p < 0.001). Simultaneously, the three variables explained 56.8% of the variance in practical learning outcomes (R² = 0.568). The findings emphasize that practical learning achievement is influenced by both motivational and physical factors. Motor ability emerged as the strongest predictor, while motivation strengthened student participation and engagement during learning activities.

Abstract

This study aimed to explore the implementation of life skills–based Physical Education, Sports, and Health learning and examine the development of students’ personal and social life skills at SMK Negeri 1 Painan. A qualitative case study approach was employed involving teachers, students, and school stakeholders selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings showed that life skills values were integrated through activity-based and group-oriented learning. Students demonstrated the development of responsibility, discipline, self-confidence, cooperation, communication, and empathy. Cooperation emerged as the strongest social skill, while responsibility was the most developed personal skill. However, the integration of life skills remained largely implicit, with limited reflection activities and inconsistent reinforcement by teachers. Life skills–based Physical Education, Sports, and Health learning supports students’ personal and social development. Nevertheless, more structured planning, explicit life skills objectives, and continuous reinforcement are needed to optimize its implementation in vocational education.

Abstract

This research is a literature study that aims to explore the relationship between carbohydrate consumption and athlete performance and health, especially female athletes who run long distances. This study uses the method of literature study or literature review using secondary data from scientific journal articles. Article searches are conducted through various platforms such as Google Scholar, EBSCO, ScienceDirect, and Proquest using keywords related to carbohydrate consumption in female long-distance runners. The inclusion criterion for articles is that they must be scientific journal research articles conducted in the UK with the main subject female athletes long-distance runners and the topic relates to carbohydrates. Articles that meet these criteria are then further analyzed Through an analysis of 8 scientific journal articles, it was concluded that carbohydrate intake has a crucial role in improving athletes' performance and endurance, as well as preventing the risk of low energy availability that can have a negative impact on health. In addition, research also highlights the need for adjustments in carbohydrate intake based on environment and stress to maximize athletes' training and recovery abilities. These findings affirm the importance of designing a balanced diet of carbohydrates and protein to achieve the desired results in improving athlete performance and supporting healthy weight loss. This study provides a deep understanding of the importance of carbohydrate intake in supporting the performance and health of female long-distance runners, and emphasizes the need for more inclusive research to develop better nutritional interventions.
