Abstract

The placement of satellite components usually belongs to non-deterministic polynomial-time hard (NP-hard) problems that in terms of computational complexity is very difficult to solve. This problem is normally known as layout optimization problem (LOP). In this study the layout of microsatellite components has to meet the requirements set by mission payloads, launcher and spacecraft attitude control. The novel scheme is to find the various possibilities of optimal layout using genetic algorithms combined with order-based positioning technique (OPT). Each component has a given index and then placed in a container based on specific order of placements in accordance with a bottom-left (BL) algorithm that is already established. The placement order is generated by the genetic algorithm which explore various possibilities to obtain a sequence that brings the best solution.

Abstract

Sikka District is an area with a dry tropical climate. Most of the plants especially food crops in Sikka District depend on rainfall. The lack of rain coupled with the weather anomalies occurring in Sikka District make Sikka District categorised in the area threatened by food insecurity.  Food crop cultivation often experiences obstacles, one of which is in determining the suitability of agricultural land for the advancement of certain food crops because the productivity of food crops depends on the quality of the area used. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a smart decision support system to determine land suitability with food crops. This study used a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to determine the value of alternatives based on parameters that affect the relevance of the land with the type of food crop.  The results showed that corn food crops were the best alternative crop with a value of 0.339 of the three alternative food crops studied and then use the method fuzzy inference system to calculate the amount of land suitability. Kopong Village and Geliting Village were the best villages with land suitability values 81.Keywords: fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy inference system, intelligent decision support systems, land suitability

Abstract

Nutmeg (pala) is a plantation crop cultivated by the people of Talaud Islands, and it is one of the leading commodities in Talaud district. The main issue about the utilization of nutmeg is that there is no processing industry, so the utilization of nutmeg is not optimum. This condition could be the result of poor information and lack of decision making system that help stakeholders to decide on policy. The aim of this research is to design a decision support system (DSS) that can help business and government to make a decision related to planning and development of nutmeg agroindustry. The designed DSS consists of five models, namely, (1) location determination using Location Quotient (LQ) and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) methods, (2) agroindustry products determination using AHP, (3) institutional determination using AHP, (4) market forecasting using linear regression, and (5) financial analysis using investment criterion. The development of DSS refers to research stages of System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and uses an Object Oriented (OO) approach. This research has successfully designed a web-based decision support system to develop nutmeg agroindustry in Talaud. This system could help the users to process an alternative for nutmeg agroindustry development in Talaud because the assessment has been computerized and can be accessed anywhere through the internet.
