Abstract

Background : TK Talenta is an inclusive early childhood education institution currently serving 43 students, 28 of whom are children with special needs (CWSN) with various conditions. This presents challenges in instilling the value of tolerance from an early age. Aim : The purpose of this study is to provide insights into the process of instilling tolerance in an inclusive early childhood education setting, particularly focusing on how it is integrated into the learning process. Method : This study employed a qualitative case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results revealed that the instillation of tolerance at TK Talenta was carried out through various activities, including habituation activities, learning activities, and non-learning activities. These activities demonstrated the integration of tolerance values in aspects such as peace, respect for individual differences, and awareness. Result : Observations showed that children demonstrated an understanding of tolerant behavior at each stage of school activities and were able to exhibit active participation and cooperation with one another. The implementation of tolerance values through three types of activities involving an inclusive environment served as a reinforcing medium for promoting tolerance within the school setting. Conclusion : The activities carried out at TK Talenta demonstrate that the instillation of tolerant attitudes can be effectively achieved through the integration of habituation, instructional, and non-instructional activities that are designed contextually and implemented continuously. All of these activities form an integral part of the learning process, which functions effectively and supports the implementation of inclusive education, while simultaneously instilling the values of tolerance from an early age.

Abstract

A study of the representation of multicultural educational values in textbooks is important because textbooks are the primary tool in the process of internalizing values in students. In the context of Indonesia's multicultural society, it is important to ensure that textbooks reflect diversity and encourage inclusive attitudes from an early age. This study aims to uncover the representation of multicultural educational values in Islamic Cultural History textbooks for secondary schools in Indonesia. This study uses a qualitative method with content analysis, and the data sources were taken from fourteen texts in Islamic Cultural History textbooks for Islamic secondary schools written by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. All books were analyzed using three approaches, namely text analysis, discursive practice, and social practice analysis, as established by Norman Fairclough. The analysis identified seven main messages reflecting multicultural values, including religious tolerance, cross-ethnic collaboration, open and inclusive governance practices, and respect for local wisdom, ethics-based leadership, cultural mixing, and a critical stance toward corruption. These findings underscore the important role of Islamic secondary school textbooks in shaping inclusive educational practices, while also highlighting the need for a more critical and contextual approach to history in multicultural societies.

Abstract

Lying tendencies in young children are a prevalent concern that may arise from insufficient cognitive awareness, anxiety over repercussions, or inadequate moral instruction. This study explores how teachings of Aqidah Akhlak can be utilized as a proactive measure against dishonesty in pre-schoolers residing in Semarang City. Employing a qualitative descriptive framework, the research encompasses direct observations, discussions with educators and parents, and an analysis of educational documents. Results indicate that truthfulness can be nurtured effectively through narratives, music, and dramatization that highlight moral teachings. A nurturing educational atmosphere coupled with ongoing cooperation between teachers and families is vital for reinforcing these principles. Nonetheless, the challenge remains in maintaining consistency and distinguishing between creative expressions and lies. This research emphasizes the significance of embedding moral education into everyday classroom interactions to foster honesty from a young age.
