Abstract

Aggressive behavior among peers is currently gaining renewed attention within educational institutions. Peers exerting negative pressure can influence deviant behavior, one of which is bullying. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between peer pressure and the incidence of bullying among adolescents at SMP X. This study employed a quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population comprised all adolescents at SMP X, totaling 1.047 individuals. The sample was drawn using the Slovin formula with the proportionate stratified random sampling technique, resulting in a minimum sample size of 289 individuals. Data collection utilized the peer pressure inventory and the adolescent peer relations instrument questionnaires, which were then analyzed using the Spearman rank test with the SPSS application. The results indicated that the incidence of bullying among adolescents was in the high category (54%), with a similarly high level of peer pressure (53%). Furthermore, there was a relationship between peer pressure and bullying incidence among adolescents (p=0.000) with a positive direction and a weak correlation between the variables (r=0.285). The incidence of bullying among adolescents in the school environment was influenced by peer factors. New strategies from various parties were expected to be developed to prevent bullying among adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesia is a multi-linguistic country using the official language of Bahasa Indonesia. It is important to use formal language to collect research data without misinterpretation of study outcome and intervention effect with high accuracy. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze whether the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) instrument translated into the Indonesian version was reliable and valid for measuring depression in floods-affected communities. Methods: The forward-backward translation was used to translate the BDI-II from English to Indonesian version. We tested the reliability and validity including content and construct validity through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with varimax rotation and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). We recruited 107 annual flood survivors in West Java, Indonesia as participants to test the psychometric testing. Results: The structures shown by the EFA are two factors, with Factor 1 representing negative cognitive-attitude domains and somatic symptom items consisting of Factor 2. The CFA concludes that the general factor model best fits the data on the basis Goodness-of-Fit Index (GFI)= 0.8; Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA)= 0.09; Standard Root-Mean-Square Residual (SRMSR)); Comparative Fit Index (CFI)= 0.81; Tucker–Lewis Index (TLI)= 0.79; and p-value χ2 = < 0.01, χ2/df: 1.82). Conclusions: The results showed that the BDI-II Indonesian version has good reliability and validity and can be used to measure depression status among people who suffer floods in community setting. Future studies need to be validated within multiple socio-cultural groups.

Abstract

Hallucinations are a common symptom often experienced by people with schizophrenia. Treatment can be carried out through psychiatric nursing care combined with psychoreligious therapy. This study aims to describe the application of a combination of nursing care and psychoreligious therapy in patients diagnosed with sensory perception disorders: auditory and visual hallucinations. The method used was a clinical case report with five stages of the nursing process, from assessment to evaluation. The intervention was conducted over seven days, and psychoreligious therapy was administered twice daily for 10–20 minutes per session. The study subject was a patient, Mr. I, diagnosed with schizophrenia and experiencing auditory and visual hallucinations. The patient had a history of repeated hospitalizations at the psychiatric hospital with the same symptoms since 2019. Mr. I presented with complaints of laughing and talking to himself. The patient’s speech was incoherent, his affect was labile, he had difficulty focusing, and he exhibited a flight of ideas. The results showed that this intervention was effective for Mr. I, as the patient was able to recognize, dismiss, and redirect hallucinations independently, showed improved adherence to treatment, was able to maintain focus during conversations, was calmer, could open up emotionally, and experienced a reduction in the frequency of hallucinations. The conclusion of this study is that the combination of nursing care and psychoreligious therapy can be proven effective in enhancing the ability of schizophrenia patients to manage auditory and visual hallucinations independently.

Abstract

The development of social media in Generation Z students presents the phenomenon of doomscrolling, which is the tendency to excessively search for negative content or news that impacts mental health. This study aims to map the factors that affect doomscrolling behavior in Generation Z students who use social media through scoping reviews. Article searches were conducted on PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using the PCC (Population, Concept, Context) framework, covering the period 2015–2025, with inclusion criteria for empirical articles in Indonesian or English that are available in full text. A total of 12 articles met the criteria and were analyzed descriptively. The results of the review showed that doomscrolling was influenced by psychological factors (stress, anxiety, depression, psychological distress, insomnia), cognitive-behavioral factors (Fear of Missing Out, social media addiction, intensity of use, digital multitasking), personal factors (self-control, self-efficacy, emotion regulation, neurotic personality), and socio-technological factors (low social support and social media algorithms that reinforce exposure to negative content). Doomscrolling has consistently been associated with decreased mental well-being and increased emotional fatigue. These findings confirm the importance of digital literacy interventions, emotion regulation training, and strengthening self-control for Generation Z students.
