Abstract

This research was motivated by the low ability of students to understand mathematical concepts, particularly in the topic of trigonometric ratios. The CORE model was chosen because it encourages active student participation in constructing concepts through systematic stages. The purpose of this study is to develop a valid and practical CORE-based worksheet on trigonometric ratios to support students' conceptual understanding. The development process followed the 4-D model (define, design, development, disseminate). Research data consisted of qualitative input from validators and students, as well as quantitative data from questionnaire scores. Data collection was conducted through interviews and questionnaires using validation sheets and student response instruments. The sample was selected through purposive sampling: 6 students from class XE.1 (Small Group) and 30 students from class XE.3 (Field Test). A worksheet is considered valid and practical if it achieves its values. The results showed that the developed worksheet was very valid (94.31%) based on appearance, content, and construction aspects. It was also very practical, with scores of 97.36% for Small Group and 90.13% for Field Test, assessed based on presentation, ease of use, readability, and time. CORE based worksheets encourage students to actively construct concepts actively actively, thereby facilitating their ability to conceptual understand trigonometric ratios.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of numeracy as a core competency required to face 21st-century challenges. However, results of the Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) reveal that more than half of vocational high school (SMK) students in Indonesia fall below the minimum proficiency level in numeracy. This condition occurs due to the limited availability of practice items for students and the limited ability of teachers to develop AKM-based questions. The aim of this study was to develop valid and reliable AKM-oriented numeracy items to support students’ numeracy improvement. The development model employed was development studies, consisting of two stages: the preliminary stage (analysis and design) and the formative evaluation stage. The research was conducted at SMK Abdurrab Pekanbaru using test and interview methods for data collection. During the formative evaluation stage, the developed items were tested on 32 students to assess validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discriminating power. The results showed that 18 test items were valid, comprising 2 multiple-choice, 4 true/false, 3 matching, and 9 essay items. Reliability testing using the KR-20 formula for objective items produced a coefficient of 0.847 (very high), while Cronbach’s Alpha for essay items was 0.873 (very high). Difficulty analysis indicated 3 easy, 14 moderate, and 1 difficult item. Discrimination analysis showed that 15 items had good discriminating power and 3 had moderate levels. In conclusion, the 18 developed items were considered suitable for measuring and improving students’ numeracy skills and can serve as a reference for teachers in designing AKM-based assessments.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum changes the curriculum structure in schools, starting with driving schools as pioneers who adopt and implement P5. The principal selection process for drive schools involves several stages, highlighting the crucial principals' role in implementing P5. Not all schools will be ready to implement this curriculum, especially non-driving schools. This research aims to describe school principal policies, strategies, influence, and supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing P5 and uses a qualitative approach. Data are obtained through observation, interviews with school principals, teachers, students, and documentation. The research results show that school principals’ policies consist of planning, implementation, and evaluation. Planning involves forming a curriculum acceleration team, preparing KOSP, budgeting, and increasing teacher competency. Implementation involves forming a facilitator team, creating P5 modules, and mentoring. The evaluation highlights the improvements in school readiness, teacher assessment, and P5's orientation towards strengthening character rather than products. The P5 strategy includes understanding, preparing the ecosystem, design, management, processing assessment reports, evaluation, and follow-up. Influential aspects at SDN 032 include competent human resources and strategic location, as supporting factors for P5, while the obstacle is the teacher's slow adaptation to curriculum changes. The research results are expected to contribute to improving the P5 implementation in schools.

Abstract

The constraints in students’ mathematical problem-solving proficiency and self-efficacy, as unveiled through PISA assessments and antecedent studies, constitute the rationale for the implementation of authentic learning, notably via the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach with emphasis on the Malay Riau cultural context. This study aims to investigate the impact of the RME approach grounded in the Riau cultural context on students’ mathematical problem-solving capacities and self-efficacy, both in general and according to initial mathematical ability (KAM). The entire population of public junior high school students in the Marpoyan Damai District was considered, while the study sample consisted of ninth-grade students at SMPN 25 Pekanbaru, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Tests and questionnaires were employed as instruments for data acquisition. T-tests, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA were utilized to examine the mean differences in mathematical problem-solving abilities between students exposed to RME-based instruction grounded in the Malay Riau cultural context and those who underwent conventional learning. The study outcomes revealed distinct capacities in mathematical problem-solving between students who experienced RME-based instruction within the Malay Riau cultural context and those who underwent conventional teaching. The enhancement of self-efficacy among students exposed to RME grounded in the Malay Riau cultural context demonstrated a significant divergence compared to those in conventional learning, both overall and according to KAM, with self-efficacy levels particularly pronounced in the RME-based cohort relative to the conventional instruction group.

Abstract

Lingga Cultural Village in Karo Regency has a strong potential for local wisdom, but its use in community economic development, especially Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is still not optimal. The main problems include limitations in product packaging, branding, and marketing strategies that are able to represent Karo's cultural values. The Real Work Lecture Program (KKN) aims to empower the MSME economy based on local wisdom to increase business competitiveness. The implementation method uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach involving 10 partner MSMEs engaged in culinary and traditional handicrafts. The program is implemented through three main activities, namely: 1) re-branding and packaging design workshops based on Karo's motives and philosophy; 2) digital marketing training with an emphasis on product culture storytelling; and 3) simple business management assistance. Program evaluation is carried out through observation, interviews, and comparison of conditions before and after activities. The results of the program show an increase in the capacity of MSMEs, characterized by 100% of partner MSMEs having a new visual identity, an increase in digital promotion activities from 30% to 80% of MSMEs active on social media, and the compilation of product narratives based on local culture. This program concludes that the empowerment of MSMEs that focuses on strengthening local wisdom is effective in increasing business competitiveness while contributing to the preservation of the cultural identity of the Lingga Cultural Village.
