Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of bali cattle urine consumption to blood urea nitrogen and creatinine levels and  histopathological observation on rat kidney. A total of 20 male white rats were used in this study. They were divided into 4 groups : K1 was given distilled water and feeded libitium, while K2,K3,K4 were given bali cattle urine at dose 0,5; 1; and 2 cc/head/day for 30 days respectively. At the end of the treatment period, the all rats were euthanized with cetamine and Blood was collected to obtain plasma. Plasma was analyzed on the content of blood urea nitrogen, and creatinine. Kidneys was taken for histopathological ??with hematoxylin-eosin staining. The results showed that administration of bali cattle urine of a dose 2cc/head/day can lead to increased levels of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine. On the observation of kidne histopathology showed hemorrhage intertubular and fatty degeneration.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil mineral makro (Na) dan Mikro (Zn) serum sapi bali di lahan hutan.  Sampel berupa serum diambil dari 15 ekor sapi bali yang dipelihara di lahan hutan di Kawasan Hutan Taman Nasional Bali Barat, Kecamatan Melaya Kabupaten Jembrana, Provinsi Bali. Analisi  kadar mineral dilakukan di Lab.Analitik Universitas Udayana, menggunakan alat Atom Absopsi Spetrophotometer (AAS).  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, profil mineral makro (Na) dan mikro (Zn) serum sapi bali yang dipelihara di lahan hutan mempunyai konsentrasi yang sangat bervariasi.  Rerata konsentarsi Natrium sebesar : 19,63 ±0,277 mg/lt dan besi : 0,33± 0,009 mg/lt.

Abstract

Plants kelor (moringa oleifera) has long best known to the public and has long been also used in traditional medicines and consumed as a vegetable and fodder for cattle. Flour leaves kelor itself has several substances hypotensif, anticancer, antioxidant, and antibakterial. This research aims to understand the influence of the addition of flour leaves kelor against creatinin levels and urea mice wistar blood. Sample used is 20 the tail of a mouse white galur wistar ( rattus novergicus ) the was 1-1,5 the moon and have weight 50-80 grams. Twenty the tail of a mouse wistar was divided into 5 the treatment group. The group differentiated based on concentration flour leaves kelor namely 0 %, 2.5 %, 5 %, 10 %, and 20 %. Data creatinin levels and urea analyzed use fingerprint variety of (ANOVA). If the real effect of treatment followed by Duncan test at 5% confidence level. The result of this research is on concentration 5 % creatinin levels decreased compared to the control group. In the 2.5 %, 10 % and 20 % have been kenaikan compared to the control group, but about 10 % lower than the 2,5 % and 20 %. While, on levels of urea group rtas serum a dose of 2,5 % and 5 % has experienced a fall in compared with the control group. Group 10 % an 20 % increased compared and control groups a dose of 10 % increasing significant.

Abstract

Lactic acid bacteria can excrete antimicrobial compounds like bacteriocins. The study aimed to find out the characteristic of physic-chemical of bacteriocin producing Enterococcus durans isolate 18A isolated from colon’s bali cattle. The study initiated by Gram staining and catalase test, followed by isolation and purification of bacteriocin. The result of the research showed that bacteriocins of Enterococcus durans isolate 18A as a protein with it’s concentrationis 0,272?g/ml and it does not contain carbohydrate. On the other hand, the bacteriocins was not showed a band while tested on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The result showed, the bacteriocin producing Enterococcus durans isolate 18A has antimicrobial activity to Bacillus cereus as 23,88%.

Abstract

Aktivitas tubuh seperti latihan yang intensif berlebih menyebabkan tubuh membutuhkan oksigen sangat banyak, sehingga memicu timbulnya radikal bebas yang dapat merusak berbagai organ salah satunya hati. Guna mencegah kerusakan sel-sel hati akibat radikal bebas, diperlukan usaha-usaha untuk memberikan asupan antioksidan dari luar. Salah satunya adalah kulit pisang kepok. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui perubahan kadar Alanin Aminotransferase (ALT), Aspartat Aminotransferase (AST) serta gambaran histologi hati tikus putih yang diberikan ekstrak kulit pisang kepok serta latihan fisik intensif. Penggunakan 27 ekor tikus yang terbagi atas 3 kelompok, perlakuan diberikan selama 28 hari. Sampel darah dan organ hati diambil pada hari ke-29. Sampel darah diuji menggunakan metode fotometrik sedangkan sampel hati diperiksa melalui preparat histologi dengan metode pewarnaan hematoksilin eosin (HE). Data hasil penelitian diuji menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA) dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pemberian ekstrak kulit pisang kepok pada tikus putih yang diberikan latihan intensif renang berpengaruh nyata dapat menurunkan kadar ALT, AST, dan dapat mengurangi terjadinya degenerasi dan nekrosis hati. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak kulit pisang kepok dapat mencegah kerusakan hati akibat latihan fisik intensif.

Abstract

Study of glycoconjugates in the mandibular gland of swine was performed. The aim of thisstudy was to identify the composition of mainly terminal carbohydrate residues ofglycoconjugates in the mandibular gland of swine using Alcian Blue (AB), Periodic AcidSchiff (PAS) and lectin histochemistry staining methods. Results showed that neutralcarbohydrates were detected in the mandibular gland ie. mucous cells, serous cells, epithelductus and lumen ductus cells. Acidic carbohydrates were detected in sereus cells of thegland. Whereas in the mucous cells, epitel ductus and lumen ductus cells there were noacidic carbohydrates detected. Using six types of lectins ie: PNA, RCA, WGA, LCA, ConAand UEA the terminal carbohydrate residues detected in the mucous cells of the gland weregalactose, GlcNAc, GalNAc, sialic acid and fructose. In the epitel ductus cellscarbohydrates detected were galactose, GalNAc, sialic acid, fucose and manose,respectivelly.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the profile of the mineral potassium (K) and Cobalt (Co) on 15 bali cattle reared on the farm in the Payangan Village,  District of Gianyar, Bali Province. The method used to measure the mineral content of the blood serum with a wet ashing method using HNO3 and H2SO4.  Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. The result show that the mean of 24.8436 ±0.02591 mg / l potassium and cobalt at 1.8026 ±0.01709 mg/l for Cobalt. This data is higher than normal levels of minerals in cattle.

Abstract

Consumption of beef in Indonesia is continuously increasing. Aside from being a source of protein, beef also contains all essential amino acids, vitamins, fats and cholesterol making it an ideal choice for consumers. This study aims to analyze the consumption of beef bali on rats plasma lipoprotein levels. A total of 15 male rats Spraque Dawlly average body weight of 90-100g was used in this study. They were sub-divided into five groups: a control group, without treatment (I), fed- beef group was treated from 7th day (II), fed-beef group was treated from 5th day (III), fed-beef group was treated from 3th day (IV), and fed-beef group was treated from 1st day (V). At the end of the experiment, i.e 9th days all groups of rats were euthanasia with cethamine-HCl. Blood was taken through the heart and placed in tubes containing EDTA to obtain plasma. Levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL was analyzed by spectrophotometric method using cholesterol KIT (Ref10028), TGA (Ref10720P), and HDL (Ref10018). LDL levels were calculated using the formula: LDL= total cholesterol-(TG/5)-HDL. The results showed that rats given beef bali cattle for 8 days was lead to increased plasma triglyceride levels significantly (P<0.05), while cholesterol, HDL (high density lipoprotein) and LDL (low density lipoprotein) plasma levels is not increased.

Abstract

The protein is one of the meat component. The exestence of the protein and amino acid willdetermine the charateristic and the quality of meat. The aim of the reseach is to know thecharacteristic of protein bands, composition and consentration of amino acid in bali and wagyubeef after boiled. This research was used bali and wagyu beef wich taken from femoralis biceps muscle. Meat size of 1x1x1 cm was boiled for 15 and 30 minutes, five g of each beef (bali andwagyu) extracted, subsequently analized using the SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulfatpolyacrilamide gel electrophoresis) method, in order to know the bands of  protein. While theHPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) metode was used to analize the amino acid. Theresults showed that boiled for 15 minutes of bali and wagyu beef appear five bands of protein bothbali and wagyu beef. While boiling for 30 minutes show four protein bands for bali beef, and just 3three protein bands for wagyu beef respectively. Results of HPLC showed both bali and wagyubeef contains nine types of essensial amino acid and six types of non-essensial amino acid. After 30minutes of boiled, the essensial amino acid decreases as much as 56,65% for bali beef and 27,37%for wagyu beef. On the other hands, the consentration of non-essensial amino acid for bali beefdecreases as much as 63,05%  and wagyu beef 67,17% respectively.

Abstract

In recent years, groups of antimicrobial peptides, mainly produced from lactic acidbacteria in yoghurt has been used extensively in the health field as an antibacterial andfood biopreservative. This aims of this study to determine the physicochemicalcharacterization and antimicrobial properties of bacteriocin which extracted from theyoghurt. We used Saphylococcus aureus and Eschericia coli bacteria for this trial. Weexamined physicochemical characters of the bacteriocin such as pH, thermal stability, andproteolytic effect. Also, we conducted the antimicrobial activties to S. aureus and E. coli.The results showed that the bacteriocin which extracted from the yoghurt could inhibit thegrowth of bacteria S.aureus, and E. coli. In order to, bacteriocin havephysicochemical properties, such as optimum active at pH 5, is stable against heating upto 121°C for 15 minutes, and sensitive to proteolytic enzymes
