Abstract

Abstract

Developing an e-module for biology education is necessary to optimize the learning process. This research aims to evaluate the validity and practice of the macroscopic fungal diversity e-module found in the Banyak mountain forest area, Sragen Regency, as a fungi learning resource. This research employs a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model. The e-module was validated by four validators: two media experts and two content experts. At the same time, the practicality test was conducted through individual and small group trials with Xth-grade students. The data collection instruments included a validity assessment sheet for the media and content, as well as a student response questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted both qualitatively and quantitatively, with qualitative data including suggestions and comments from evaluators, while quantitative data were based on evaluator assessments using a Likert scale. The results show that the media validity score was 94%, categorized as very valid, the content validity score was 89%, categorized as very valid, and the practicality test yielded an average score of 87%, categorized as very practical. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the e-module on macroscopic fungal diversity is valid and practical as a learning resource on fungi at a high school in Tangen and can proceed to the next phase, effectiveness testing.

Abstract

This study evaluated the impact of papaya leaf (Carica papaya L.) supplementation in bran feed on body weight and body size of chickens (Gallus domesticus). Three groups of chickens were fed with papaya leaf flour supplementation to see the efficiency on chicken growth. This study was conducted for 28 days at the "Rinael Farm" Farm, Pulerejo Village, Manggis, Mojosongo, Boyolali, Central Java. This study was implemented through an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) design that included three treatments and three repetitions: P0 (no supplementation), P1 (10% supplementation), and P2 (20% supplementation). The results of the study proved that 10% and 20% papaya leaf supplementation did not have a significant effect on chicken weight (P> 0.05). However, papaya leaf supplementation had a significant impact on the characteristics of chicken body size, with a p value <0.001. Papaya leaf supplementation increased chicken body size, with group P1 experiencing the most significant and consistent increase, while group P2 showed greater variation in growth. Supplementation with 10% papaya leaves (P1) proved to be the most effective in increasing chicken growth efficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for developing E-modules Argument Driven Inquiry (ADI) with Socio Scientific Issues (SSI) context on environmental change material to empower students' scientific argumentation skills. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques through interviews and questionnaires. The subjects of this study were biology teachers and 60 students of SMA Negeri 4 Surakarta. The results of the needs analysis showed that teachers and students need technology-integrated teaching materials in the form of ADI E-modules with SSI context on environmental change material. The development of ADI E-modules with SSI context is expected to be an alternative learning solution that is innovative and effective in improving the quality of biology learning which has implications for empowering students' scientific argumentation skills.

Abstract

Creative thinking skills are important for students to develop innovative solutions. One of the learning approaches in Natural Sciences that is effective for training creative thinking is the SSI (Socio-Scientific Issues) approach. The purpose of the research was to analyze the needs of teachers and students in the development of SSI-based e-modules to empower students' creative thinking skills. Data were collected through questionnaires given to four science teachers and 119 seventh grade students from four schools located in Wonogiri, Sukoharjo, Klaten, and Gunungkidul districts. The results showed that 1) 75% of teachers have difficulties in learning science. 2) 100% of teachers feel limitations in teaching materials. 3) 75% of teachers need teaching materials that can help teach science concepts. 4) 100% of teachers agree with the development of SSI-based e-modules. 5) 54% of students feel there is something incomplete with the module used. 6) 52% of students have difficulty in learning material from books. 7) 98% of students have smartphones. 8) 96% of students need SSI-based e-modules. The conclusion of the research shows that teachers and students need SSI-based e-modules on ecology and biodiversity materials that are easily accessible and effective to empower students' creative thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of ethnoscience in science education through a systematic literature review from 2020 to May 2025. Ethnoscience, as a culturally-based educational approach, plays a crucial role in contextualizing scientific concepts in students' daily lives. This study employs the PRISMA protocol to ensure traceability and transparency in data collection. Of the 76 articles that met the inclusion criteria, most studies were conducted in Indonesia, focusing on primary and secondary education. The findings reveal that ethnoscience research in science education contributes to improving scientific literacy and 21st-century skills and integrating local wisdom values into pedagogical approaches. However, there remains a lack of cross-country research or intercultural comparisons. This study recommends further research with empirical classroom approaches and cross-cultural studies to enhance the validity and transferability of findings. The results of this review provide valuable insights for curriculum developers, educators, and policymakers to design culturally responsive science learning that aligns with students' sociocultural contexts. The integration of ethnoscience can serve as a strategic approach to promote inclusive education, foster identity awareness, and support the sustainability of local knowledge in formal science curricula.

Abstract

Meat quality is determined based on aspects of handling, inspection, environment and facilities at the slaughterhouse. Some of these aspects have been paid attention to by slaughterhouses (RPH), but they are still less of a concern for places that carry out independent slaughtering. The aim of this research is to determine the difference in the quality of meat from RPH production and meat from production other than RPH. Parameters used in meat quality testing include organoleptic tests (color, odor, consistency and cleanliness), pH tests and Water Holding Ability (DIA) tests. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis test, if there were significant differences, it was continued with the Mann Whitney test. The results showed that there were significant differences in color quality, consistency, pH and DIA values (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the results did not show significant differences in bau and cleanliness parameters (P>0.05). However, meat originating from both places is still at a level suitable for consumption

Abstract

This paper documents the need for developing a guided inquiry-based e-module on biodiversity material for high school students. The research employs a descriptive exploratory approach involving 41 respondents, consisting of biology teachers and grade X students selected using cluster random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires focusing on the availability, use, and expectations of learning media. The results showed that current biology learning still relies heavily on teacher-centred methods and printed textbooks and lectures, limiting students’ engagement and scientific literacy. Both teachers and students expressed the need for a digital learning media that supports independent learning, encourages active student involvement, and aligns with the guided inquiry approach. The findings support the urgency to develop an interactive e-module that integrates inquiry-based learning steps and can be used flexibly both inside and outside the classroom.
