Abstract

This study aims to get the correlation between the soil compressive strength and soil shearstrength directly on silt substituted with granulated materials. This is done because if buildingstructures on the silt soil will cause several problems including a small value of the compressivestrength and low shear strength after incurring. For the testing is done with a mixture of sand, siltsoil so that it can be seen how much sand mixture to resist the forces on the load that is above theground. To determine the sand effect on silt soil , with the compressive strength and shear strength that hasbeen made by way of mixing the sand by 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%. From the test results showedan increase in the compressive strength of 0.3723 kg/cm 2 in a mixture of 10% sand and a decreasein the mixture thereafter. In the direct shear strength value increased 30% when variations mixtureof sand that is equal to 0.4290 kg / cm 2 , the cohesion of 0.27 kg / cm 2 and the friction angle in at26.170.Keywords: silt soil, sand, soil compressive strength, soil direct shear

Abstract

AbstractConstruction of a construct in civil engineering requires that the material in top shape. The soil that became the foundation of a structure should reach the prime condition to be able to sustain the existing structure on it. But in fact it is not easily met at a project site . This research will compare the compacted soil permeability values are standard with compacted soil permeability values are modified. Soil of the sample in this study were taken from the  sukajawa village , Lampung Tengah. The soil was taken from two locations with different types. The soil is then mixed with sand which then compacted using standard methods and methods modified. Permeability testing is done to obtain permeability coefficient. Based on the original soil physical test , AASHTO soil 1 put into groups of A - 7-5 and the second soil  into a group of A- 7-6, which means the land is clay soil types and USCS classify the soil into fine-grained soil. The observations in the laboratory showed that compaction with different methods show different results and the amount of a mixture of sand affects the value of soil density. Keywords : Soil clay , sand , compaction and permeability.

Abstract

In this study used raw material such as silt and clay soil with a mixture of lime additive which has a variety of levels of 5%, 10%, and 15% as well as with a variety of curing time for 7 days, 14 days and 28 days. The purpose of this study to increase the compressive strength of silt and clay soil free them. Soil samples tested in this study represents silt soil from the village Yosomulyo, East Metro District, Metro City, while the clay is derived from Rawa Sragi, Jabung District, East Lampung regency. After doing research, from the third level, the compressive strength maximum free of silt and clay soil found in the levels of 15% with 28 days curing time. This is due to the greater levels of lime and the longer the curing time, the greater the unconfined compression value. Keywords: Clay Soil, Silt Soil, Unconfined Compression, lime.

Abstract

The problem of strength and resilience of soil is one of things that really need to considered in theplanning and construction work of a civilian building . This is because the land in question servesas a medium that holds the load or the action of a construction that is built on it . Stabilizationusing sand material is one way to meet the needs of the required strength . Changes in weatherand temperature in the field are factors that makes the ground unstable .The type of soil is soft clay stabilized from the Rawa Sragi village, Jabung District, East LampungDistrict. This research was conducted by using a mixture of sand with variations mixture of 5%,10% and 15%. After the CBR testing, Density, Atterberg Limits and Specific Gravity for eachsample. The more variations of a mixture of sand were added resulting in declining water levels that wouldmake the value of the soil carrying capacity increases, the value of density and plastic limitincreased, while the value of the liquid limit and plasticity index decrease. Keywords: sand, soft clay, bearing

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the effect between zeolite and clay of compressivestrength and shear strength. Construction founded on clay will cause some impact, such as lack ofcompressive strength and shear strength. Therefore, before the construction of structures on theclay, the clay must be stabilized first. In this research, soil stabilization using zeolite.Based on the results of this research there was an increase in the compressive strength of clay by94,5 % from 0,2975 kg/cm 2 be 0,5787 kg/cm 2 , and improving the clay cohesion of 54,17 % from0.24 kg/cm 2 be 0,36 kg/cm 2 , and the increase in the maximum shear strength of 43,89 % of 0.4754kg/cm 2 be 0,6841 kg/cm 2 , the additon of zeolite until 10%. From these values it can be concluded, compressive strength and shear strength increases as a percentage addition of zeolite, althoughthe increase that occurred in the unconfined compressive strength and direct shear strength is notas great. Keywords : Clay, Zeolite, Uncofined Compressive Strenght, Shear Strenght

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the behavior of reduction and compressive strength in claywhich is substituted with sand material and to see the correlation between the value ofconsolidation and the compressive strength on the soil. Because the clay when getting loadingthere will be a significant reduction in soil that affects the reduction in carrying capacity orcompressive strength of the soil. In this study used clay from the village of Belimbing Sari, Jabungdistrict, East Lampung with the coordinates of 105° 39 '10.74 "T and 5 ° 31' 44.26" S.The research was done by testing on samples without a mixture of clay and the clay soil mixedwith sand with varying amounts of sand mixture of 10%, 20%, and 30%. Testing was conducted ona standard compaction test to find the optimum water content, consolidation testing to find thevalue of the coefficient of consolidation (Cv), compression index (Cc) and coefficient ofcompression (Av) and compressive strength testing are free to seek the compressive strength on thesoil.Based on the results of this study can be seen in the behavior of a mixture of clay and sand withoutonce mixed with sand material that is an increase in the value of the coefficient of consolidation(Cv), a decrease in the value of compression index (Cc) and coefficient of compression (Av) and anincrease in the compressive strength (qu) in the clay soil. Value increases and decreases that occurwithout a mixture of clay and after mixed variations mixture of 10%, 20%, and 30% tend to bestable. From this study it can be concluded that the value of consolidation and strong correlationpress substituted clay with sand material that is smaller then the consolidation of soil compressivestrength will be greater as well. Keywords: Soil Clay, Sand, Consolidation, Soil Compressive Strength

Abstract

This research aims to determine the compressive strength and shear strength on clay which issubstituted with a mixture of sand variations. Soil tested in this study is derived from clay ofBelimbing Sari Village, Jabung District, East Lampung. This is done because if you set up astructure on top of the clay will cause some problems, among others, the small value ofcompressive strength and shear strength of the soil.To determine the effect of mixing clay with sand on the compressive strength and shear strength, itis done by varying the mixing of sand by 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%. From the test results it is obtainedthat the increase in shear strength to a maximum of 0.7534 kg / cm2 and a decrease in cohesionvalue of 0.10 kg / cm2 at mixing the sand as much as 40%. In the compressive strength reaches amaximum value at 30% of the mixing done 4 variation is equal to 0.4996 kg / cm3. The greater thelevel of sand were added then the lesser the value of the soil cohesion, friction angle and thecompressive strength will increase although the maximum compressive strength value in mixing30% sand. Keywords : Clay, Sand, Soil Compressive Strength, Soil Strength Press

Abstract

Soil bearing capacity can be determined with several kind of test, that could produce different testresult for same sample in accordance to characteristics of test equipment and main targets of eachtest equipment in determining soil parameters. This research aimed to compare characteristics ofsoil bearing capacity that obtained from DCP (Dynamic Cone Penetrometer) test, LaboratoryCBR test, and UCS (Unconfined Compressive Strength) test. The soil sample which tested on this research was from Margakaya village and Palputih village,District of Jati Agung, South Lampung and Blimbing Sari village, District of Jabung, EastLampung. Soil sample for Laboratory CBR test was made by compaction. Meanwhile, soilsamples for UCS test was undisturbed soil and remoulded sample. The result of research showed that the CBR value of DCP test result was greater than theLaboratory CBR test result with margin less than 1%. The CBR value was directly proportional tothe compressive strength of its soil. Meanwhile, the DCPI value of DCP test result was inverselyproportional to the design CBR value and the compressive strength of its soil. Keywords: California Bearing Ratio, DCPI, clay, compressive strength

Abstract

C lay has properties that are not profitable for construction. This is because the bearing capacityof the soil or low CBR have low value. Therefore we need a stabilizing agent that can reduce soilproperties which are unprofitable, usually accompanied by binding to each soil grain with theother .The research was done by testing on clay samples without a mixture and the clay that is mixedwith zeolite with a variation of 6%, 8%, 10%, 12% and 14%. Tests were performed using standardand modified compaction which previously done curing for 14 days. After compaction test, thesamples were soaked for 4 days and then followed by mechanical testing which is CBR test thataimed to determine the bearing capacity value of the soil after the sample was mixed by zeolites.Based on the results of laboratory research, the highest value obtained on the sample CBR claywith a mixture of 14% zeolite with the use of modified compaction with 14 days of curingand 4days of soaking in the amount of 2.78%. This is because the effect of zeolite which can bind clayparticles. So, the more a mixture of zeolite then bearing capacity of the soil also increasing. However, the value of CBR in this research can not be used as subgrade in road constructionbecause of its CBR value ≤ 6%.Keywords: CBR, Soil Clay, Zeolite
