Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the form, the type and the function of the interrogative in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district, Padang city. This research is descriptive qualitative research method. The object of this research are the interrogative from people that live at Koto Tangah district, Padang city. Data analysis was performed with (1) transcripts of recording data into written language, (2) analyzing the data, (3) to classify the data into the aspects studied, (4) interpreting the data accordance with the purposes of the study, (5) make the conclusion. The result of this research, there are 40 interrogatives that found in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district, Padang city. There are 11 prototype interrogatives in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district, Padang city. Then, there are 26 derivative type interrogatives in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district, Padang city. Then, there are 3 bound type interrogatives in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district, Padang city. There are 11 types of interrogatives in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district, Padang city, they are (1) interrogative about noun, (2) interrogative about nominal, (3) interrogative about process, (4) interrogative about time, (5) interrogative about suppression, (6) interrogative about function, (7) interrogative about existence, (8) interrogative about reason, (9) interrogative about place, (10) interrogative about direction, and (11) interrogative about person. The function of interrogatives in Minangkabau language at Koto Tangah district Padang city, found in 7 functions, they are (1) used for ask about something, (2) used for rhetorical sentences, (3) used for confirmed the sentences, (4) used for ask for the opportunity, (5) used for satire sentence, (6) used for offers something, and (7) used for express the distrust. Keywords: Form, Function, Interogative

Abstract

This article aims to: (1) Describe the pattern of a nickname based on the form used lingual Minangkabau ethnic communities shoreline Pariaman; (2) Describe the category nickname used by its reference Minangkabau ethnic communities shoreline Pariaman; (3) Describe the category nickname based on the sense used Minangkabau ethnic communities shoreline Pariaman. Study the theory used in this research, among others; (1) The study of semantics; (2) Naming; (3) a nickname; (4) The connotative meanings; (5) understanding of proper names; (6) the Minangkabau language. This study found 113 nickname used by Minangkabau ethnic communities in the Pariaman shoreline Pasisia. It can be concluded that in terms of form, found in two units lingual nickname: (1) the form of words and (2) are phrases, terms of reference unit forms lingual was formed on 8 reference / references a nickname in the form of (1) the physical condition , (2) behavior, (3) where / origin, (4) the name of the parents, (5) work, (6) status, (7) similarity, and (8) mental condition, based on the value of taste found three grades flavors, namely (1) the value of the negative sense, (2) the value of a positive sense, and (3) value neutral flavor. Keywords: proper names, Minangkabau ethnic

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe the type of color adjectives, (2) describe the process of forming color adjectives in the Minangkabau language in Kenagarian Taeh Baruah district Lima Puluh Kota. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. First, the type of color adjectives in the Minangkabau language in Kenagarian Taeh Baruah regency Lima Puluh Kota are as follows: (1) based on animal names, (2) based on plant names, (3) based on natural objects, (4) based on vision, (5) based on limbs, (6) based on food. Second, there are two processes for the formation of color adjectives in the Minangkabau language, namely (1) basic adjectives, and (2) derivative adjectives (compound words).   Keyword:Type, Process of Formation, Adjectives, Minangkabau Language.

Abstract

This article was written to ( 1) the name parts of moeslim leader’s uniform of Minangkabau ( 2 ) to explain the meaning of name ( symbol ) of each moeslim leader’s Minangkabau in Kabupaten Solok. This research is qualitative research that used descriptive method. The technical to gather this data with observation, interview and library studies. Analysis data do with grouping, syncronyzed, differenciate the data and eliminate to the others group but not syncrone and also gather the meaning.  According this research found that the name parts of moeslim leader’s uniform Minangkabau in Kanagarian Kacang Kecamatan X Koto Singkarak Kabupaten Solok are: The head part is Saluak. The body part is baju hitam lapang, baju tidak bersaku, siba batanti/leher tidak berbuah, langan gadang, taburan banang emas, lilitan benang makau, cukia/ragi benang emas, motif pucuak rabuang. The trousers part is sarawa hitam gadang kaki. The accecories is Salempang, sisampiang, cawek, keris dan tungkek. The foot part is tarompa. Each name has a meaning leaders of the outfit, saluak symbolizes Minangkabau society is always consulted. Clothes and parts embodies the word leader is the result of collective consensus, the leaders are honest, patient, intelligent, and wise. Salempang implies sufficient in providing any prince in line with indigenous knowledge. Si sampiang and parts embodies the leaders knowledgeable and always helpful for others. Cawek meaning the leaders are patient and must protect its nephew. Keris symbolizes the tongue or speech of a leader. Tungkek/Stick meaning the elder person in a country and is obliged to maintain the prosperity of the country. Sarawa hitam gadang kaki implies that the prince always be on the right path and straight, and tarompa embodies a prince covered with kindness and all actions leaders must be resized. keywords: name, meaning, custom, Minangkabau

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the Speech Acts illocutionary At the State Address of President Jokowi Date August 14, 2015.This study is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. The main data in this study are speech-speech on a speech by President Jokowi containing illocutionary speech acts on the President's speech Jokowi dated August 14, 2015. The source of this research data is video of President Jokowi first official speech on August 14, 2015, which is downloaded via youtube. The instrument of this study is the researchers themselves. Data collected by the state address how to download video youtube President Jokowi through, listening to the speech of President Jokowi, President Jokowi and transcribe speech into written language.Examination of the validity of the data was done by using trilingulasi. Data analysis was done by (1) transcribe the recording data in written language, (2) classified based on the type of follow illocutionary speech, speech acts function, and the strategy says, in a speech by President Jokowi dated August 14, 2015, (3) analyzing the data that have been classified, (4) make the conclusion of the research results Based on data from this study, it was found 94 research data, the type of representative illocutionary speech act, directive, expressive, commissive, declaration. Illocutionary speech acts function is the function that is found fun and work. Abstract

This study was conducted to describe the performance of the use of EBI on the status of Facebook mayor in West Sumatera. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data research in the form of writings written by some mayors in West Sumatera through Facebook account. In this research, author focuses some writings from the Mayor of Padang, the Mayor of Padang Panjang, the Mayor of Payakumbuh, and the Mayor of Solok. Data collection is using documentation method, that is: (1) printscreened writings the Mayor of Padang (period 2016—2017), the Mayor of Padang Panjang (period 2016—2017), the Mayor of Payakumbuh (period 2016—2017), and the Mayor of Solok (period 2015—2016); (2) transcribes all the Facebook posts; and (3) observe and determine the data that includes the performance of EBI. The exanubatuib of data validation in this research uses a detailed description technique. Data are analyzed with this following steps. (1) identify and transcribe the data, (2) classify, (3) calculate, (4) interpret the data, and (5) conclude the data. The conclusion of this study is the performance of Indonesian in terms of use of EBI on Facebook mayor in West Sumatra is very low (16.4%) of 499 speeches. The biggest mistake is in the use of capital letters and the smallest is in the use of quotation mark one.Keywords: EBI, language error, spelling, mayor, Facebook

Abstract

This research is aimed to describe: (1) the structure of folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West Siberut, District Mentawai Islands; (2) the social function of folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West District of Siberut, Mentawai Islands. This sort of research is a qualitative study using descriptive methods. This research data is folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West District of Siberut, Mentawai Islands. These data was collected from informants through interview, observation, and interviews records by informants. The data were analyzed by the steps of: (1) a data inventory phase; (2) classification of data; (3) the stage of discussion or conclusion from data classification results; and (4) the stage of reporting. Based on the research, was found the following statements. (1) the structure of folklore legends Si Bajak Si Kelak Kulit in Simalegi Village, West District of Siberut, Mentawai Islands including: (a) a language style, (b) the viewpoint of the speaker (the informant), (c) character and characterization, (d) the storyline/plots of the folklore, (e) the background, (f) the theme, and (g) the moral of folklore; (2) social functions contained in folklore is to educate, entertain, also to strengthen the tradition, as the way to bequeath the tradition.Keywords: structure, social function, folklores

Abstract

This research is about the strategy of telling in the event of ILC (Indonesia Lawyers Club) in TV ONE which is said by the discussion participants on the topic about "Setya Novanto". This research type is qualitative research with descriptive method. First, the type of speech acts of illocution most commonly found in the speech of the participants of the event discussion (Indonesia Lawyers Club) is an expressive act of 'criticizing' that is as much as 207 speeches. Second, the strategy of telling the story of the illocution spoken by the discussion participant in the event (Indonesia Lawyers Club), is to have the same amount of use of the strategy type that is in using the strategy of telling frankly with the positive politeness gesture and speaking vaguely, vague that is equally as much as 89 speech. Thirdly, the context of the use of the strategies described in the act of speech of illocution is most often found in the context of speech is the same speaker with speakers using the type of strategy speak with positive politeness gestures in expressive (criticizing) illustrated speech acts. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the form of compliance and violations of the politeness in the utterances of Waktu Indonesia Timur host on NET TV. The type of this research is qualitative research by using analysis of descriptive method.The sources of this research is the utterances of Waktu Indonesia Timurhost. The findings of this study are (1) compliance with the principle of politeness in the utterances of the host in “Waktu Indonesia Timur” was found as many as 321 data consisting of compliance oftact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim; and (2) violations of the politeness principle of language in the utterances of the host in “Waktu Indonesia Timur” were found in 224 data consisting of violations of tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. Keywords: politeness,joke, Waktu Indonesia Timur

Abstract

This study aims to describe the performance of the use of communication politeness in terms of the use of the principle of language politeness by the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra in Facebook. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study are writings written by the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra. Data were collected in the following manner, (1) to capture the screen of the writings of the Governor and Deputy Governor of West Sumatra (period 2016-2021) on Facebook account; (2) transcribes the entire Facebook post; and (3) to observe and determine data that includes the performance of Indonesian politeness. The examination of data validation in this study uses a detailed description technique. After the data collected, then analyzed with the following steps, (1) identifying and transcribing data, (2) classifying, (3) calculating, (4) interpreting data, and (5) summing up data. The conclusion of this study is the performance of Indonesian politeness in the writings in the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra very well. This statement is evidenced by the corresponding speech language utterance of 519 sentences (98%) and non-corresponding nine sentences (2%). Conformity of the use of the principle of communication politeness that many found is the maxim of conclusions and incompatibility of the use of the principle of communication civility that many found is the maxim of praise and humility.Keywords: politeness, governor and deputy governor, facebook
