Abstract

The demand for organic products is increasing because of changes in consumer patterns or lifestyles. Awareness of the dangers used synthetic chemicals in agricultural cultivation makes organic farming or sustainable agriculture attract the attention of consumers and producers of organic coffee. The government supports the trend of organic products by forming a program of 1,000 organic farming villages. This study aims to analyze differences in income of organic and conventional coffee farmers. This research was conducted in Margamulya Village, Pangalengan Regency, West Java. Margamulya Village as the center of West Java coffee production and one of the villages chosen as one of the organic villages in the 1000 organic farming village program in Indonesia. The sample used in this study was 56 respondents consisting of 28 organic farmers and 28 conventional farmers obtained through the Slovin formula and taken by area sampling methods. The method used in this research is comparative quantitative research methods. Data analyzed with comparative income analysis using the Independent Sample T-Test. The analysis shows that the income of conventional farmers is higher than organic farmers. The production of organic coffee farmers still lower then conventional farmers because they are still new to applying the organic cultivation system. Organic farmers have not received a premium price for their organic coffee products.

Abstract

The tourist area of Mount Galunggung in Tasikmalaya Regency has a tourist attraction for tourists because it has many destinations in one tourist area. Tourist attractions in the tourist area of Mount Galunggung are crater attractions, hot air baths, waterfalls (waterfalls) and Galunggung Shelter coffee shop. The tourism potential of Mount Galunggung is not yet optimal, partly because there is no development of coffee tourism as a tourist attraction that is expected to attract tourists. Therefore all stakeholders must implement the concept of community-based agro-tourism in the Galunggung area. The purpose of this study was to analyze the development of community-based coffee agro-tourism in the Mount Galunggung Tourism Area, Tasikmalaya Regency. Data collection was carried out using a census-based questionnaire. Community Based Tourism (CBT) is a tour that pays attention to culture, social and environment supported by the participation of local communities. Economic, social and environmental aspects are implemented using an average index of perception of the people involved in the development of coffee agro-tourism. Based on the average index the results of the study show that agrotourism is based on economic and environmental aspects in the high category, while social aspects are categorized as very low. Development of community-based agro-tourism can be done by improving aspects that are still not optimal, namely social aspects. Planning for community-based agro-tourism development can be done by improving the social aspects of one through stakeholders by involving the FGD as a whole to discuss which developments have been carried out so that community-based coffee agro-tourism can be developed.

Abstract

Society-owned enterprises (BUMR) Food offer partnership patterns with farmers to overcome the classic problems faced by farmers so far, namely the low capital, access to sources of capital, access to technology, and market penetration. The partnership pattern offered by BUMR Food is in the form of non-collateral loan assistance accompanied by assistance and providing agricultural insurance to farmers. Farmers are required to plant rice using varieties determined by the BUMR Food and sell their grain to BUMR Food at a price determined based on the quality of grain produced by farmers. Farmers' decision to establish a partnership with BUMR Food is greatly influenced by their perception of the partnership pattern. The purpose of this study is to: (1) identify the pattern of partnership of paddy rice farmers with BUMR Food, and (2) analyze the perception of paddy rice farmers to the pattern of partnership with BUMR Food. The research method used was a survey, with a population of all paddy rice farmers who followed the pattern of collaboration with the BUMR Food in Sukabumi Regency. The sampling technique used is Simple Random Sampling. The first research objective was analyzed descriptively, while the second research objective was analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results show: (1) The partnership pattern in the form of Agribusiness Operational Cooperation, where the partner company (BUMR Food) provides non-collateral loans, provides technical assistance in cultivation, and acts as an offtaker (receives the results of production), and (2) the perception of farmers lowland rice to the partnership pattern with BUMR Food is generally positive both in terms of relative profitability, suitability and complexity.

Abstract

Coffee is a plantation commodity that is favored by farmers in Pulosari Village who were initially used to farming vegetables. However, along with the intensification of socialization and the existence of Perhutani's policy through the PHBM concept, public awareness has increased that growing vegetables in a certain slope can damage the soil structure and be counter-productive with environmental conservation. This awareness can be seen from farmers who have dared to switch to monoculture coffee farming, although in fact there are farmers who still farm coffee with polyculture cropping patterns. The research method used was a survey, using different test analysis techniques and descriptive analysis. Thus the purpose of this study was to analyze the impact of monoculture and polyculture cropping patterns on farmers' income and the factors affecting the selection of cropping patterns by coffee farmers. The results of this study show that monoculture coffee farm income is higher than polyculture coffee farming, but when calculated with vegetable crops as intercropping, overall farm income is higher with coffee with intercropping plants even though the costs and risks are also high. The factors that influence the selection of monoculture coffee planting patterns are because the price of coffee is stable, easier to maintain and complies with Perhutani regulations. As for farmers who choose polyculture cropping patterns with vegetables because farmers are already skilled at farming vegetables and the harvest time is faster than coffee.
