Abstract

Siamese oranges are the primary commodity of agricultural products in Tebas District. However, instability of the cost of capital in farming can cause uncertainty in the selling price of the product at each time of production. Therefore, this study focuses on the influence of production factors and allocative efficiency of Siamese citrus farming in Sambas Regency. Data were obtained from 88 Siamese orange farmers in Tebas Sungai Village who were selected by random sampling method using the Slovin formula. The research location was chosen based on the number of farmers and Siamese orange production among other villages in Tebas District, Sambas Regency. The coefficient of determination of 0.698 is calculated by linear regression analysis so that it shows the attachment between the two kinds of variables, while 0.302 comes from the external model. The F test shows the calculated F value > F table of 2.58> 2.04, which indicates the level of Siamese citrus production is simultaneously and significantly affected by the variables of land use, seed selection, and use of labor. The efficiency test found that the variables of land use and seed selection were efficient with a value of NPMx=1.

Abstract

As farm managers, farmers must apply financial behavior to ensure that their farms achieve good agricultural performance. Farmers in the city of Pontianak mainly grow horticultural products, especially vegetables. Therefore, the aims of this research are to determine the financial behavior level and vegetable cultivation performance level of farmers in Pontianak City, farmers' financial behavior affects the performance of vegetable farming in Pontianak City, and formulate efforts to improve the financial behavior of vegetable farmers. This study was conducted in the North Pontianak area of Pontianak City, West Kalimantan, with 90 farmers as respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive, SEM-PLS with SmartPLS 3.0 tools and qualitative. According to data analysis, the financial behavior of vegetable growers in North Pontianak is classified as poor, and vegetable cultivation in North Pontianak is classified as poor. Additionally, the financial behavior of vegetable farmers in the North Pontianak region has a positive and significant impact on agricultural performance. Pontianak City A formalized effort to improve the financial behavior of vegetable farmers in the North Pontianak District is to provide socialization, training, mentoring, and strengthening with regard to financial reporting, particularly good financial management for growing vegetables.

Abstract

Financial literacy helps independent smallholders make better financial decisions, while individual characteristics such as age, education, and experience affect financial literacy, which can improve the economic welfare of independent smallholders. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between farming characteristics and the level of financial literacy in independent oil palm farmers. This study used a quantitative descriptive method. Primary and secondary data sources were analyzed using the Spearman rank test. The analysis results showed that education and land area had a significant positive relationship with the financial literacy of independent oil palm farmers, while age and farming experience had a significant negative relationship. Gender and number of dependents showed a weak and insignificant relationship. Education and larger land area tended to increase financial literacy, while age and experience did the opposite.
