Abstract

This study aims to investigate the correlation between customer satisfaction and positive feedback posted on Google Maps, along with visitors' perceptions of the Geopark service. Geopark, a form of tourist destination highlighting natural beauty, environment, and sustainability, places significant emphasis on sustainable development principles to ensure its environmentally responsible and economically beneficial impact on local communities. Service satisfaction stands as a pivotal element in upholding Geopark tourism's success. Numerous researches have indicated that visitor contentment is intertwined with service quality, information provision, facilities, and pricing. Employing sentiment analysis techniques on Google Maps comments, the study unveiled that a majority of visitors expressed satisfaction with the Geopark service. Within the sentiment analysis of favorable comments on Google Maps, the agreement level displayed a moderate range of 0.41-0.60. This signifies that the Geopark service partially met visitors' requirements and offered a somewhat positive encounter. Certain visitors also contributed insights and recommendations for elevating service excellence and enriching the tourism venture. Nonetheless, alongside positive remarks, visitor sentiments exhibited variations concerning the Geopark service.  To conclude, service satisfaction and the advancement of an environmentally conscious and sustainable Geopark tourism model in Merangin Jambi are pivotal for ensuring the sector's triumph. Positive comments on Google Maps can drive the continuous enhancement of service standards; however, it is equally crucial to consider visitors' diverse sentiments to rectify deficiencies and provide an enhanced tourism experience.

Abstract

Urban beggary in Indonesian cities such as Pekanbaru persists as a complex social issue driven by intertwined economic, cultural, and structural factors. Rapid urbanization and economic growth have failed to alleviate deep-rooted social inequalities, resulting in a visible increase in street beggars despite government interventions. This study aims to explore the underlying factors contributing to the persistence of urban begging in Pekanbaru, understand beggars’ lived experiences, evaluate policy effectiveness, and identify barriers to sustainable solutions. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were gathered through purposive and snowball sampling, in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation in major begging hotspots across Pekanbaru. The findings reveal a heterogeneous population of beggars, including children, adults, and the elderly, often trapped in cycles of poverty, low education, and intergenerational transmission. While economic deprivation is a significant driver, agency, adaptation, and “innovative” strategies—such as performative begging—were also observed. The study highlights the limited success of punitive or charitable policies, underscoring the need for holistic, participatory interventions that address both structural constraints and socio-cultural stigmas. In conclusion, urban beggary in Pekanbaru is shaped by a complex interplay of poverty, social exclusion, and adaptive survival strategies. The research is beneficial for policymakers and social practitioners seeking context-sensitive, multi-dimensional solutions. Future studies should examine the dynamics of organized begging syndicates and evaluate long-term impacts of inclusive social programs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the types of social exchanges in Julo-Julo activities and how social exchanges function in terms of economics. This research was conducted with a qualitative approach and phenomenological methods. Observations, interviews, and documentation are used to collect data. The theory of reciprocity is the theory used in this study. According to information collected from the Julo-Julo social exchange at the Sangkumpal Bonang Market, Padangsidimpuan City, wedding and celebration materials used by Julo-Julo members for weddings and celebrations were collected by the chairman of the Julo-Julo board. The Julo-Julo method uses staples according to criteria, where the criteria are the most important members of Julo-Julo, which is to meet material needs. In society, there are two types of exchange: comparative reciprocity and general reciprocity. The function of the Julo-Julo exchange for the community in the Sangkumpal Market, Padangsidimpuan City is to overcome problems related to holding weddings and celebrations, such as a lack of money capital, a lack of rewang labor, and a lack of facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

Early Childhood Caries (ECC) remains a major public health concern in Indonesia. While global studies have widely applied the Health Belief Model (HBM) to explain parental perceptions of oral health, limited research has integrated local cultural values and the role of early childhood education (ECE) in shaping oral health practices. This study explores how cultural norms, parenting styles, and educational settings influence children’s oral health behaviors in Padang City. This study uses a qualitative case study design conducted at three early childhood education institutions with a Holistic Integrative Early Childhood Education program in Padang City (RA Ar Risalah, Adzkia, and Nirbas). Data was collected through observations, semi-structured interviews with parents and teachers and literature review. Purposive sampling identified actor informants (parents of children with and without caries) and ordinary informants (teachers, principals). Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s three-stage approach: coding, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings show that toothbrushing is culturally embedded in bathing routines, maternal control over diet is stronger than paternal or extended family control, and dental care is largely perceived as curative rather than preventive. ECC in Padang City reflects a complex interplay of cultural practices, parental roles, socioeconomic conditions, and institutional support. Addressing ECC requires culturally grounded interventions that involve both family and PAUD educators, while reframing oral health as preventive rather than curative.

Abstract

Maritime communities possess unique socio-cultural and environmental characteristics that contribute to low success rates in blood pressure control. Self-care is a key factor in hypertension management; however, its implementation within fishing communities is often hindered by local work patterns and lifestyles. Objective this study aimed to analyze the relationship between self-care activity dimensions and blood pressure control status among hypertensive patients in the coastal area of Batam City. Methods a cross-sectional study design was employed, involving 237 respondents diagnosed with hypertension selected via consecutive sampling. The sample size was calculated using the Lwanga & Lemeshow formula for two proportions. Data were collected using the H-SCALE questionnaire—which had undergone translation and validity/reliability testing—and through standardized blood pressure measurements. Data analysis utilized the Chi-square test (p < 0.05) and Odds Ratio (OR). Results the majority of respondents were male (60.8%) and primarily employed as fishermen (52.7%). A total of 74.3% of respondents had uncontrolled blood pressure. Statistical analysis revealed significant associations between uncontrolled blood pressure and non-adherence to medication (p = 0.001; OR = 3.12), non-adherence to a low-salt diet (p = 0.008; OR = 2.24), and poor stress management (p = 0.003; OR = 2.58). Conclusion self-care activities within the maritime community remain low, contributing to high rates of uncontrolled hypertension. Integrated community nursing interventions that are sensitive to the dynamics of coastal life are required.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension remains a significant health challenge in maritime communities due to unique occupational and cultural lifestyles. In the Riau Islands, the prevalence of hypertension reached 25.3% in specific coastal areas, yet control rates remain suboptimal. Objective: This study aims to analyze the factors influencing blood pressure control among hypertensive patients in a maritime setting. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted with 237 hypertensive respondents in the maritime area of Batam, Riau Islands. Data were collected using questionnaires covering demographics, knowledge, stress levels, medication adherence, and socio-cultural factors. Results: The majority of respondents were male (60.8%), aged 45–59 years (60.8%), and worked as fishermen (52.7%). Analysis showed that 74.3% of patients had uncontrolled hypertension. Significant determinants included low medication adherence (52.3%), high stress levels (62.4%), poor health knowledge (54.4%), and limited access to healthcare facilities (67.5%). Socio-cultural practices, particularly the high consumption of salted seafood and traditional beliefs, significantly hindered hypertension control (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Hypertension control in maritime populations is heavily influenced by socio-cultural habits and systemic barriers. Tailored interventions, such as the "Alviro Model," are necessary to address these specific coastal challenges.
