Abstract

Introduction: Uterine prolapse is a gynecological problem that women often experience with a prevalence of 50% and is predicted that the next 30 years will increase by 45% as life expectancy increases. Increased degrees of uterine prolapse have an impact on the deterioration of women's quality of life. The uterine prolapse is influenced by several mutually supportive factors. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between these factors to the degree of uterine prolapse. Methods: This research is an observational analytic research with cross sectional approach. The number of samples were 65 patients with uterine prolapse at Policlinic Gynecology RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya from 2015-2017. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling. To find out the significant level, the collected data will be tested with Fisher Exact Test statistic at significance level α = 0,05.Results: The result showed that there was significant difference between degree of uterine prolapse with age factor (p = 0,016) and obesity (p = 0,041). As for the parity factor (p = 0.508) there was no significant difference between the parity factor and the degree of uterine prolapse.Discussion: Age is a major factor affecting the degree of uterine prolapse, weakening of pelvic floor tissue and muscle in elderly women is the main cause. While on the obesity factor, there is no data to support that obesity is related to the degree of uterine prolapse because the trend indicates that the majority of patients are not obese. In contrast the parity factor, although according to the statistical test there is no difference to the degree of uterine prolapse, the trend shows that parity leads to increased incidence of uterine prolapse itself. Conclusion: Age is a factor that affects the degree of uterine prolapse.

Abstract

Introduction: Medical students are experiencing uncertainty in finding the appropriate help for their mental health problems. When they finally decide to seek help, some of them are already in a mental crisis. The suitable indicator for early identification of mental disorder is mental health literacy. Mental health literacy also functions as a tool to decrease stigma towards people with mental illness and to improve help-seeking behavior. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of mental health literacy to help-seeking behavior and to describe mental health literacy and help-seeking behavior of the medical students. Methods: The study design was observational analytical. Participants filled demographic data and answered questionnaire via an online file sharing platform. The questionnaires used in this study were Mental Health Literacy Scale (MHLS) and Attitudes Toward Seeking Professional Psychological Help Short Form (ATSPPH-SF). The influence of mental health literacy to help-seeking behavior was analyzed using logistic regression analysis.  Results: The respondents were 60 medical students. No differences of literacy and attitude were found across the admission years. Overall, the students had good literacy and attitude. Students showed lower scores in the MHLS attributes containing ideas about self-treatments, confidentiality, social distance, and reliance on self. Being literate in the total score of MHLS did not influence on having a good attitude in ATSPPH-SF (p=0.303). Only by being literate in attitudes that promote recognition and help-seeking, the students showed a good attitude in ATSPPH-SF (p-value=0.027).  Conclusion: There was no influence on mental health literacy to help-seeking behavior.

Abstract

Introduction: Dengue virus infection is caused by the dengue virus and transmitted through the bites of infected Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. The spectrum of clinical manifestations is varied from asymptomatic, undifferentiated fever, dengue fever, dengue hemorrhagic fever, dengue shock syndrome, to expanded dengue syndrome. Data from 2016 in Indonesia revealed that dengue virus infection is common in the population, with a total of 333.821 cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever. Methods: This was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The subjects in this study were children under 1-year-old, diagnosed with dengue virus infection, and had a complication. The number of subjects used is 60 infants. Results: Infection of dengue virus in infants is often found in the 7-9 month age group (36,6%). Clinical manifestations found were fever (100%), vomiting (62%), diarrhea (43%), petechiae (22%), bleeding (12%), and irritable (5%). Thrombocytopenia and leukopenia were found in 93,3% and 26,6% of infants respectively. Complications were found in the form of pleural effusion (66%), hypoalbuminemia (62%), hyponatremia (51%), liver involvement (49%), hypocalcemia (43%), hypokalemia (23%), bleeding (21%), brain involvement (21%), kidney involvement (13%), and ascites (11%).Conclusion: The most common clinical manifestations are fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, while the most common complications are pleural effusion, hypoalbuminemia, hyponatremia, liver involvement, and hypocalcemia.
