Abstract

A healthy lifestyle is an effort made to keep the body healthy and fit. One of the healthy lifestyles is consuming vegetables and fruit. In accordance with one of the goals of sustainable development (SDGs), namely a healthy and prosperous life and economic growth, the focus of this activity is on the health and welfare of the community by utilizing the processing of minasa leaves through diversification of miana leaves into various food preparations. This training was held in Sokkolia Village, Gowa Regency. Residents were given hands-on material and practice regarding miana leaf processing. After the training, a questionnaire was given to determine the participant's response to this training. The results of the questionnaire obtained an average score of 4.22. This means that the implementation of activities is in good criteria.

Abstract

Teachers are required to be able to use and develop digital technology for innovative learning processes. IT-based learning media is one of the solutions offered so that students are not bored in learning. This researc aimed to determine whether there is an effect on the learning outcomes of class VII students of SMPN 26 Makassar on the use of IT-based media. Student learning outcomes data obtained were analyzed by descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the average score of the student’s biology learning outcomes in the control class was 65.10 and the experimental class was 77.66. The data on the results of inferential statistical analysis with t-test were obtained a sig score of 0.000 < α 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of using learning media based on IT toward the student’s learning outcomes.

Abstract

Antioksidan merupakan senyawa yang dapat menghambat spesies oksigen reaktif dan juga radikal bebas sehingga antioksidan dapat mencegah penyakit yang berhubungan dengan radikal bebas. Daun kratom (Mitragyna speciosa Korth.) telah diteliti memiliki kandungan  diantaranya antiradang, antioksidan, dan antibakteri. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak daun kratom. Pengujian aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan uji DPPH selanjutnya, dilakukan pengukuran aktivitas antioksidan dilakukan dengan spektrofotometer.  Hasil penelitian diperoleh ekstrak daun kratom memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sebesar 47,68% menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%.

Abstract

This study aims to study the effect of banana (Musa paradisiaca forma typica) liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of chili (Capsicum frutescens L.). Based on the results of the study, the dose of organic fertilizer increased for vegetative growth (growth of root length, stem height and number of leaves of chili) while in generative growth (average number of flowers, number of fruits, many plants, and many plants), chili plants produce facts, produces large quantities, number of plants, wet weight of plants, and wet weight of chili.

Abstract

This research is an experimental study that aims to determine the effect of the application of N2-fixing bacteria Actinomycetes, Azospirillum, and Azotobacter on the vegetative growth parameters of corn plants and on the nitrogen content of corn plants. Parameters for measuring the growth of corn plants include: formation rate of radicle length, plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, fresh weight of plants, fresh weight of plant roots, dry weight of plants, dry weight of plant roots, total N content in plants, as well as physical and chemical qualities of the ground. Experiments on the application of N2 -fixing bacteria on corn plants on a laboratory scale were carried out to determine the in vitro effect of microbes on corn seeds. The pot test was carried out to determine the effect of N2-fixing bacteria on the vegetative growth of corn plants in vivo. Data were analyzed using ANOVA with Duncan's test. The results showed that corn plants inoculated with Actinomycetes, Azospirillum and Azotobacter showed a significant different growth from corn plants without nitrogen fixing bacteria, namely formation rate of radicle length, plant height, number of leaves, leaf length, fresh weight, dry weight, total N content (%) of crops, and soil physical and chemical quality. It can be concluded that the inoculation of nitrogen-fixing bacteria in corn plants has a significant effect on plant vegetative growth parameters and plant nitrogen content.Keywords: Nitrogen fixing bacteria, Actinomycetes, Azospirillum, Azotobacter, Plant vegetative growth.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji aktivitas antimikroba ekstrak daun Crescentia cujete L terhadap Staphylococcua aureus, Escherichia coli dan Candida albicans. Metode maserasi telah digunakan untuk mengekstrak daun C.cujete L dengan menggunakan dua pelarut yaitu etanol 70% dan etil asetat. Hasil ekstrak selanjutnya dilakukan uji aktivitas antimikroba. Hasil ekstrak etanol daun C. cujete L diperoleh rendemen yang lebih yaitu 28,5% dibandingkan dengan ekstrak etil asetat 4,4%. Ekstrak daun C.cujete L memiliki aktivitas antimikroba karena dapat menghambat pertumbuhan S.aureus, E.coli dan C.albicans pada konsentrasi 10%. Abstract

The use of inorganic fertilizers carried out continuously can damage the physical, chemical and environmental properties, the availability and price of inorganic fertilizers which increase the costs for farmers so that alternative solutions are needed to reduce dependence on the use of inorganic fertilizers and then switch to organic fertilizers. One alternative organic fertilizer that can be used is liquid organic fertilizer from kepok banana waste. The use of organic liquid fertilizer will improve the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil and contain high organic compounds. The purpose of this study was to determine the macro nutrient content of Kepok banana waste organic fertilizer and to know the morphological characteristics of fungi and their ability to produce IAA hormones from Kepok Banana waste. Based on the results of the analysis of macro nutrient content it is known that the fermentation liquid that produces the best macro elements is CF 30 =, with elemental levels: Nitrogen 0.25%, Phosphorus 2.68%, Potassium 3.24%, Calcium 1.58%, and Magnesium 1.33% and the lowest is CF 15 ≠, with levels of Nitrogen 0.21%, Phosphorus 2.54%, Potassium 2.41%, Calcium 0.84%, and Magnesium 0.54%. The results of this study indicate that in fermentation liquids contain macro nutrients N, P, K, Ca, and Mg that meet the standards set by the government so that they can be used as organic fertilizers. The results of macroscopic and microscopic isolation and fungal characterization showed that the most fungal isolates were found in CF 15 ≠, which were as many as 5 fungal isolates. Whereas for CF 15, 3 mushroom isolates were obtained. And CF 30 ≠ and CF 30 = each 4 fungal isolates.

Abstract

Abstract. The formulation of the problem in this research is how to develop a valid molecular genetics practicum guide with the aim of testing the validity of the practicum guide in molecular genetics courses for undergraduate biology study program students. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which consists of five stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The instrument used is a validation sheet filled out by a validator expert. Data was collected through analysis of validation sheets that had been filled in by expert validators and analyzed descriptively in order to obtain data in the form of a validity score. The results showed that practicum guides had an average validity score in the range of 4.5 ≤ Va = 5, in this case it met the very valid criteria.Keywords: ADDIE development model, practicum guide, molecular genetics

Abstract

This research aims to: (a) determine the number of fungal isolates capable of inhibiting the growth of Fusarium sp. in vitro, (b) determine the percentage of inhibitory activity of the antagonistic fungal isolates against Fusarium sp. in vitro, (c) identify the morphological characteristics of the top three antagonistic fungal isolates from the rhizosphere of potato plants (Solanum tuberosum L.). To achieve these objectives, the in vitro experimental testing was conducted at the Biology Laboratory of Makassar State University. The research results showed that: (a) based on macroscopic and microscopic morphological characteristics, the fungi isolated from potato plants were identified as Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. solanaceae. (b) There were seven isolates capable of inhibiting the growth of F.o.sp. solanaceae, namely Aspergillus sp (green), Aspergillus sp (black), Eupenicillium sp, Chaetomium sp, Paecilomyces sp, and Monilia sp. The percentage of their inhibitory activity was 54.71%, 73.13%, 36.82%, 55.01%, 50.66%, 46.53%, and 43%, respectively. (c) The morphological characteristics of the top three antagonistic fungal isolates were as follows: 1. Black Aspergillus sp had a black colony with a solid texture and very rapid growth. The hyphae were septate and non-branched, and the spherical conidia were black. 2. Green Aspergillus sp had a colony with dark green (inner), light green (middle), and white (outer) regions. The conidia were spherical, with a solid and slightly elevated texture, spreading in all directions. The hyphae were septate and non- branched. 3. Chaetomium sp had a white cotton-like colony with a fine and thick texture, spreading in all directions. The conidiophores were irregularly branched, and the hyphae were septate.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan memberikan penyuluhan kepada alumni Biologi FMIPA UNM tentang bagaimana memantau status kesehatan di sekolah masing-masing dengan memeriksa kesehatan peserta didik secara umum, dan menganalisis status gizi anak berdasarkan pengukuran antropometri (Berat badan dan Tinggi badan). Metode yang digunakan adalah Observasional langsung di lapangan dengan memberikan penyuluhan pada orang dewasa yang bersifat kekeluargaan yang alamiah dan menyenangkan. Selain itu, metode yang digunakan adalah wawancara dan diskusi interaktif antara peserta dengan tim pelaksana dan antara peserta dengan peserta. Peserta penyuluhan ini adalah alumni Biologi FMIPA UNM yang tergabung dalam Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) IPA Kabupaten Maros dan MGMP IPA Kabupaten Takalar. Kegiatan pertama dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Maros pada bulan September 2017 dan kegiatan ke dua pada bulan Oktober 2017 di Kabupaten Takalar. Berdasarkan hasil pemantauan tim pelaksana atas pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini terhadap para alumni Biologi yang tergabung dalam MGMP-IPA Kabupaten Maros dan Kabupaten Takalar, maka dinyatakan bahwa peserta sudah mampu mendeteksi status kesehatan anak dengan mengenal tanda-tanda fisik anak sehat, dan sudah mampu menilai status gizi dengan mengukur status antropometri berdasarkan indeks massa tubuh (IMT) dari berat badan dan tinggi badan. Peserta pelatihan sangat antusias mengikuti kegiatan ini tergambar dari keseriusan peserta berdiskusi secara aktif mengikuti acara sampai selesai, bahkan beberapa peserta meminta tambahan waktu agar memperoleh informasi lebih banyak tentang kesehatan dan status gizi anak serta cara mengukur dan menilainya. Alhamdulillah kegiatan ini berlangsung dengan baik dan sukses karena selain antusiasme para peserta yang tinggi juga dihadiri ratusan peserta pada 2 kabupaten.
